Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

Thanks everyone! I'll look at those. I have been looking at Nina Mixx this evening and Maxi Cosi Zelia but still no idea 🤷‍♀️

@itssquidstella I actually thought the Uppababy Cruz (2) wasn't suitable from birth, now I'm confused... was sure I looked at that one earlier as was recommended it elsewhere...

@MissM94 not even heard of that one! I will check it out

@EastMidsGem that looks really nice!

Sarah239 · 03/02/2022 21:51

Ooh sorry forgot a few other things I wanted to say...

  1. I might have asked this before but is anyone else planning on trying to cope with a 3dr car 😬 my husband has a 5dr I can use sometimes but mine is 3dr. I'd really like to avoid the expense of a new(used) car if I can but I am worried about the lack of back doors. Annoyingly only the passenger seat folds forward. I think we're just going to plan what we would want to buy in advance so if we decide it's impossible we can buy another car pretty quickly.

  2. I started feeling movements early (17 weeks) and now at 25 weeks it's like my whole belly wobbles like jelly every time she moves! The movements are enormous! I love it but I'm a bit scared at her strength/maybe size?! 😅 Anyone else? I think she's waking me up in the night too! I think she just finds it comfy right at the lower front of my belly! Midwife said at 24 weeks she was lying sideways like a hammock.

YummyMummyXoX · 03/02/2022 21:53

Exciting seeing about the big purchases I saved everything big from my son he never slept in his cot overnight so that's basically new.
Put his pushchair back together, it's in winter version but adapts to summer version snd a lightweight buggy and can change the way it faces etc. It was so comfy to push and strong. Now for steriliser, baby bath, rocker and baby hospital bag
All the appointments are coming through thick and fast has anyone had their GTT test yet? I've a consultant app next week at 26 weeks can't wait for may already ❤️

@Sarah239 you have to buy the carrycot insert for the Cruz, but we got a good deal on it - it's also suitable for overnight sleeping so we'll be able to use it for daytime naps instead of buying a Moses basket for the sitting room, so we felt it was worth the expense.

YummyMummyXoX · 03/02/2022 21:59

@Sarah239 I did have a 3 door with my son being a newborn until he was 3 found it easier having 4 doors when he got older to be honest. I don't remember any issues when he was baby x

morphe · 04/02/2022 00:03

@MrsMay19 I definitely can't fit into my normal clothes! This is my third baby though. A few days ago I got my first congratulations from an acquaintance I ran into but hadn't told, so my bump is looking more obvious now. I have just bought some cheap loungewear clothes to wear at home, in five sizes bigger than my normal size (cheaper than getting proper maternity wear) and it's a bit loose, but they aren't falling down and I'm sure I'll be fitting into them in a couple of months.

@Sarah239 I'm getting pretty big movements, she feels like she is shifting around a lot in there and I can see elbows and knees from the outside!

@GinnyBee sorry your hospital appointment wasn't helpful, it sounds like a bit of a waste of time but sometimes worth turning up just in case things get worse later and you can say you've tried.

EastMidsGem · 04/02/2022 07:46

@YummyMummyXoX I had my GTT on Monday so just waiting for the results which hopefully I'll get on Monday as the midwife plans to ring me! I have been having a loooot of sugar so I'm quite nervous

TashieWoo · 04/02/2022 07:54

I haven’t been on here for a few days and it’s moved quickly!

Glad your appointment went well @Jowd92, it’s so lovely listening to their heartbeat 💓.

I have my 28 week appointment next week and a glucose tolerance test hasn’t been mentioned (yet) and isn’t in the bit of my notes which says what happens at each appointment. Are they standard or just if something is noticed in your urine?

I’ve pretty much decided on the Silver Cross Pioneer, it looks nice and robust for trips to the woods and the stables, and baby should be very comfortable as it has good suspension. Just need to go and see it in real life now! I probably won’t get the travel system though as I might get a different brand car seat, looking at Cybex for those.

With movements I get a mixture of big moves I can see from the outside, moves that feel like my whole bump is wobbling (not every day) and smaller general movement. I don’t think the nature of the movement matters so much (apart from hiccups that aren’t counted, not sure I’ve had those yet), more that they are regular. At the moment it’s whenever I am sitting down, at hourly intervals or thereabouts. I love it so much and I think she can feel me as if I rub my bump when she’s moving she stops, then starts again when I stop! 💖

GinnyBee · 04/02/2022 08:15

@TashieWoo I think you only have to have the GTT if you have a risk factor for GD. My mum had type 2 so that's why I have to have it although otherwise I'm nowhere near at risk.

@Sarah239 It might be worth checking on autotrader what you might get as trade in for your current car. We get £7k for ours! It's 5 years old and we only paid less than £12k for it to begin with, so getting more than half the value back again towards the price of the new (used) car! After that it might not seem so expensive to upgrade :) On the prams, Nuna is an excellent brand. We've decided on iCandy Peach all-terrain because we live in the countryside and get muddy all the flippin time, but if the terrain wasn't quite as rough as it is I would have loved the Mixx! We're getting a Nuna car seat though - was a close call between the Arra and Cybex Cloud Z, but the materials Nuna use just feel much nicer!

Sarah239 · 04/02/2022 08:45

@GinnyBee I don't think I'd get more than 2K for it (if that) as I have done a couple of valuations online. It's almost 10 yrs old at 100,000 miles. Getting another car would be ok if we didn't also plan on buying a new house this year, and all the baby stuff! It all adds up doesn't it...

Really cba with work today 🙈 Easter weekend (when I go on leave) can't come quickly enough!

fattycatty82 · 04/02/2022 09:11

Someone crashed into my car last September, it was a bit of an old banger anyway so I took the insurance money and didn't bother getting a new one. I borrow the other half's car and end up getting it all weekend and occasionally during the week when he's working from home, it's so nice to just save the money and not have the hassle. I'm also a short walk from the train station and five mins into town on a train. I've saved the money so if I do decide I need one I can get one but I'm hoping to walk a lot when the baby's here... that way I won't even need a gym membership!

I also can't be arsed with work either, I've taken on a cover role which has proved full on and I'm expecting it to be manic over Easter especially when I'm going to be on the verge of popping! I still think economically it's better I wait until the very end of April though so I can take a full year off with baby and have a bit of extra money on the other side

It's very dark and miserable out there today, I think it might be one of those working from home days I don't go out, which is a bit grim but rather stay warm and dry!

Have a good day ladies and bumps x

YfenniChristie · 04/02/2022 09:58

Morning everyone, just left my 25 week appointment with the community midwife. (A different one this time as my usual one is semi-retiring) It was much of a muchness really.

Urine sample was great, blood pressure was the usual high side of normal, checked I wasn't having any headaches or blurry vision, asked if I had any concerns/questions and if everything was ok at home - and then out the door. 🤷🏼‍♀️

YummyMummyXoX · 04/02/2022 11:34

I believed the GTT was standard as gestational diabetes can occur in any pregnancy as it's gestational and triggered by the impacts of pregnancy unlike normal diabetes. But it may be different from trust to trust? I was so shocked never had it last time because I lived off sugar/salt. Basically the same this time lol. So we'll see! x

Kittycaz · 04/02/2022 11:48

Hey everyone, I've just been doing some reading and as I'm a FTM I wanted your opinions as some of you have had a LO before. I read we can't take newborn out til baby is 1 month old. Is that for everything like newborn can't sit in garden? or I can take them for a walk in a park? Just thinking fresh air.
I'm 27 weeks today I'm in last week of 2nd trimester, so excited x

GinnyBee · 04/02/2022 11:56

@Kittycaz I've never even heard of that! Sounds ridiculous, so I've Googled, and it's nonsense! You can go out as soon as you feel ready and take certain precautions. Dress appropriately for the weather, be careful in the sun, and maybe avoid large crowds and meeting loads of people, especially with covid still around. But a stroll in the park or chilling in the garden is absolutely fine!

fattycatty82 · 04/02/2022 11:57

@Kittycaz I hope that isn't true as I planned to be getting plenty of fresh air and sunshine! My daughter was born in November so maybe different but we took her out to register the birth at just a few days old.

I guess we need to make sure they're well protected from the sun but I'm sure it's fine x

fejkalove · 04/02/2022 12:06

Morning all,

Just wanted to vent...it's taken weeks for a suitable property to come up (location/budget/space) but the landlord went with another applicant...I've spent the morning crying since, I'm so stressed I won't find anything before the baby is due and I want to be in somewhere so I can get everything ready. I know nobody can do anything just wanted to get it off my chest as my friends think I'm just being picky. (I want to be near family/daughters school etc to make things a little easier after the baby is born).

Kittycaz · 04/02/2022 12:57

Thankyou @GinnyBee I thought it did sound wierd. Am glad to hear me and LO can go get fresh air rather than being stuck inside.

@Fejkalove I'm in kinda same boat. Been trying to move before LO is born we live in a 1 bed flat on 3rd floor and get anti social behaviour from neighbours (last night they finally turned off there bass at 4am and they got a massive dog which is nasty and attacks people they only moved in 2 months ago so it's really aggravating.)

mowglika · 04/02/2022 14:13

@Kittycaz I’ve never heard that and it’s definitely not true. My oldest was a summer baby and it was lovely emerging in perfect weather for a nice walk after a night spent feeding. Fingers crossed the weather is good this May 🤞🏼

YummyMummyXoX · 04/02/2022 15:36

Sorry to hear about the housing situation @fejkalove I don't think you are being picky wanting to get organised. I hope you find somewhere you like soon and feel settled x

I am currently going onto annual leave next week then medical suspension in 2 weeks as I'm riddled with hospital appointments . Feels bitter sweet feel like a failure but I will be resting in between being back and forth for monitoring - baby girl and my son are the most important things right now ❤️

fattycatty82 · 04/02/2022 17:32

@YummyMummyXoX you're not a failure you're putting your baby first and she's the most important thing

@fejkalove I hope something else even better comes up for you ASAP. Private renting is no fun I know from bitter experience. Keep looking, there's still time

I had weird and horrible pelvic pain for the first time ever today on a walk, it was so bad I struggled to make it back to my house. I've been so active, gym three times a week, plenty of walks, yoga and swimming but today was a real wake up call. I need to remind myself to take it easy more I think and build it a few extra rest days. I'm hoping it was just a one off today and not the start of something more. So glad I bought that exercise ball when I did as it really helped this afternoon, I swapped it for my desk chair!

fattycatty82 · 04/02/2022 17:36

@Kittycaz that sounds horrible for you too, I hope you find somewhere else. We were in a flat before and the girl downstairs was always smoking weed it stank out our place. I'd just close the windows but stuff like that would drive me nuts with a baby. Now I just have a neighbour who thinks he's Ed sheeran and likes to play guitar and sing badly every afternoon. Could be worse

MrsMay19 · 04/02/2022 18:11

@YummyMummyXoX I have to go off at 28 weeks too because I’m front line and working with covid patients. I’m just going to enjoy having some extra me-time before baby comes.

@Sarah239 it’s suitable from birth in the carry cot attachment but not in the seat as it’s a bucket seat.

The car seat for hubbys car arrived today which is exciting and my car seat and pram are coming in a couple of weeks. We were for ocarro and cloud z.

Kittycaz · 04/02/2022 18:33

@fattycatty82 I think we don't realise how much carrying a baby strains your body until you're absolutely exhausted and in pain. I love having long walks but I've noticed I can't walk as far as I used to and my legs swell up really bad. The pain you had may be pelvic girdle pain. Ive had it a few times during pregnancy.

morphe · 04/02/2022 22:26

@Kittycaz yep that's nonsense, although it's something that my mum would say as it's quite common where she's from. Plus what would happen with second/third babies when the eldest is in school - I'll have to take the baby out when I'm taking my DD to preschool!

@fejkalove Oh no, sounds frustrating but keep looking. With my eldest I wasn't settled in a place before he was born so don't get stressed about having everything in place before the baby arrives. It's not ideal but if you have somewhere to stay for now, just try to make that space comfortable for them. Babies don't need much space in the first few months.

We're hoping to move house this year but we have to be fussy too as DD is starting school in September, so we need somewhere near there. We're very cramped where we are (there'll be 5 of us in a 2 bed flat when baby is born) but since we're buying, we'll still be here when baby arrives and possibly when DD starts school. It's just how the timing has worked out, not ideal but we'll get through it.

@TashieWoo I'm having the GTT next week, I've been told it's because my ethnicity puts me at a higher risk (although I've never had it in previous pregnancies).

@fattycatty82 I think I've been getting pelvic girdle pain while walking, it's not severe but it slows me down enough that my 20 min walk to nursery is more like 24/25 mins now.
