Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

I have my 25 week appointment today too! My back is really aching today, must get those dumbbells out again. And I keep waking up 3-4am! I've had it on and off all pregnancy but usually only a couple of nights, and then I sleep well again, now it's been almost a week waking up every single night. I'm so tired!

Kittycaz · 01/02/2022 09:27

Morning @GinnyBee and @Jowd92 hope it all goes well today. I've had back pain for few weeks it's annoying but I've found using my preg pillow behind my back when I sit at home in evenings it keeps my back straight and less painful. My issues are with my leg cramps god the pain. Last night it happened 3 times and had to walk around to loosen the joint it just fully seizes up. But I've realised if I over do things day before Im more likely to get em.
With movements I wouldn't be to worried I'd still tell the midwife when you see them. It could be your LO is turned into your back. X

fattycatty82 · 01/02/2022 13:25

Yes I'm the same with the insomnia, some days I'm ok and then I'll have a week of crappy sleep. I've found hip rolls help with aches and pains a bit.

I had my 25 week appt this morning and it was all really positive, it was the first time I met my actual midwife. She seems very nice but also very young! Well compared to me anyway 😂 I mentioned to my other half that she was attractive and he answered correctly, no he didn't think she was 🤣 Can you imagine??

I've now done a complete U turn on my birthing options and now seriously considering a home birth. I actually didn't think it would be an option for me and had heard so many horror stories of older mums being induced and just generally having a grim time that id pretty much convinced myself I wanted a C section.... but now, the idea of being in the comfort of my own home is very appealing... It seems like I have plenty of time to weigh up all my options though which is good

So lovely to hear the heartbeat this morning too! Such a great sound

Kittycaz · 01/02/2022 19:50

@fattycatty82 aww that sounds really nice am glad it all went well.

I've just had my first braxton hicks contraction oh god that felt wierd. Only lasted 20 seconds.

Sarah239 · 01/02/2022 22:24

Has anyone else been told their partner needs a copy of your MATB1 form to give to their employer for paternity leave/pay? My midwife said to copy ours and I was confused as I thought MATB1 was only for my employer!

@fattycatty82 the idea of a home birth does really appeal to me. I think if we lived closer to a hospital I'd be really tempted. I've been watching my hypnobirthing course and it's really instilled in me this idea of being in my own space where I feel safe and most comfortable. They said statistically for low-risk, second+ pregnancies homebirths are actually THE safest birthplace!

GinnyBee · 02/02/2022 03:47

Well this is fun! I've been sleeping until 3-4am this past week, but today I woke up at 1! It was the dog that woke me, admittedly, but haven't been able to get back to sleep, so I'm doing some work now so that I can have a nap later. Ridiculous.

Then I have the lung scan in the morning, and quite a busy afternoon out visiting a couple of customers, going pram shopping to view the two finalists side by side, and then test driving a car we're going to buy! My husband has already seen it once and we've reserved it, so now just got to go in and finalise the details. We're swapping our tiny hatchback to an estate, and I'm going to be terrified driving it!

fattycatty82 · 02/02/2022 06:35

@GinnyBee that is horrible. I find sometimes when you have a lot to do the next day the insomnia is worse, for me it's my mind already being one step ahead. I was relieved when I woke at 5am today... still stupidly early but had got so used to seeing 3am on the clock 😩

fattycatty82 · 02/02/2022 06:37

Anyone bothering with a pregnancy/birthing ball? I used to have one but never really used it and it took up too much space, but I've heard good things for pregnancy and birth

TashieWoo · 02/02/2022 07:19

Glad your midwife appointments went well @GinnyBee and @fattycatty82! Hope yours did too @Jowd92.

I don’t have a pregnancy/birthing ball yet but I will probably get one nearer the time as I can see how it could help with the early stages of labour.

itssquidstella · 02/02/2022 07:28

I’ve got one @fattycatty82.

I sit on it whilst I’m watching TV; it's definitely better for my posture than slouching on the sofa.

morphe · 02/02/2022 09:49

I'm craving carbs more than sugar, usually late at night before bed, which is not healthy at all!

@Sarah239 I think technically the father's employer shouldn't need the MATB1 but I know a lot of employers ask for it anyway.

I'm getting lots of niggles and aches, though nothing too painful. I do quite a lot of walking most days, to get my preschooler out and about, and I took her to soft play yesterday which was hard work as she likes me to climb up the different levels with her - don't know how much longer I'm going to manage to do that!

I need to get serious about decluttering in the next few weeks. We need to get rid of a wardrobe in our bedroom to be able to fit a cot in there, which means culling my clothes by half. Also need to get rid of a lot of DD1's toddler toys, but we still want to store them somewhere as the baby will eventually want to play with them.

Jowd92 · 02/02/2022 14:01

@TashieWoo yes my appointment went well thank you heartbeat was lovely and strong she said could of been the position she was lying in as to why I couldn’t feel her moving but then she’s been moving lots since is anyone else finding it weird with out any pregnancy notes mine is all online this time and it just doesn’t feel right lol and also she couldn’t measure me because the hospital never gave me a measurement chart so I won’t now get that until 28 weeks

Kittycaz · 02/02/2022 15:35

@Jowd92 I have paper maternity notes. I carry them everywhere with me. Glad to hear it all went well.

MrsMay19 · 02/02/2022 17:38

@fejkalove I went to the baby show too, I didn’t find it overly useful, which was annoying as we drove down from Birmingham 🙈

@Jowd92 mine is all online too but they don’t actually put anything on there everything just says not recorded so I’ve not been given any blood results or anything the whole pregnancy.

Anyone else not really got a bump at all. I’m still in my normal jeans and uniform (and NHS uniforms are not forgiving). When I ask for help moving patients the other staff just keep telling me I don’t look pregnant 🙊

We only travelled an hour but agree it was annoying to only spend an hour there. Got a few freebies but probably doesn't equal the petrol costs Grin

I had my midwife appointment today, got my MATB1 form so that's one more ticked box. There was a trace of protein in my urine sample so that's been sent off and I'm trying not to worry but it's hard not to. I hadn't had a drink before doing the sample so hoping it's as simple as that!

EastMidsGem · 03/02/2022 03:44

I have 4 more working days to go until my holiday/maternity leave and I cannot wait. Baby seems to want to keep me awake from 2.50 this morning, kicking away. Serves me right for going to the toilet!!

fattycatty82 · 03/02/2022 06:32

@EastMidsGem ohhh I'm so jealous I have another 3 months to go at work! Maybe a little less. What will you do?

When I woke up and saw the clock said 6am I was so relieved 🙏 still tired but better

GinnyBee · 03/02/2022 08:44

@EastMidsGem Oh my god I'm so jealous! I'm so done, and can't wait to finish work but I have another two months left!

Yesterday we had such a busy day but so productive too! My hospital appointment was a major waste of time, I should have just cancelled as was my instinct but they kept telling me to turn up and talk to the doctor first. The pain I had went over the weekend, so I didn't see the point in doing another test to rule out a cause. But they still wanted me to have it until I nearly fainted when the doctor was putting the cannula in and it really hurt, then they decided that maybe it is best to ask the consultant actually, who agreed there's probably no benefit that would be greater than the discomfort of the test itself.

Then we drove around Birmingham visiting a couple of customers, then off to look at prams and finally to test drive a car and sort out buying it. Gonna pick it up in two weeks! It's going to feel massive compared to our little hatchback, but hopefully I'll get used to it quickly. Also decided on a pram and car seat now so can get those ordered. Who knew that having one tiny baby meant you'd end up spending like £25k on various accessories! (Obviously the new car makes up the bulk of it...)

And I had to do it all with less than 3h sleep 🙈 I've now woken up feeling awesome having slept through for the first time in over a week! And I slept for like 10 hours.

EastMidsGem · 03/02/2022 10:32

@fattycatty82 I plan to do lots of reading and probably some binge-watching of some series I've missed!

@GinnyBee I don't know how you had the energy for all of that in 1 day! I was so tired after just sitting at my desk and doing some driving to and from the office yesterday!

Sarah239 · 03/02/2022 19:09

@GinnyBee wow you sorted a lot in one day!! I still need to decide on car seat, pram and decide whether to get a new car!

I'm still completely over whelmed by the pram choice, no idea how to decide, they all seem too heavy, too expensive or don't fit requirements. I just want something not too bulky that I can clip a Cybex/Maxi Cosi car seat in to and has a seat that is world/parent facing with footmuff... and can lie flat, ideally with option of carrycot too. Now that I write it it does sound like a lot 🙈

Do you think it's realistic to want a pushchair that will cover a few years (say to 3 or 4) or should I only be thinking until they are 1 and then would probably replace?

itssquidstella · 03/02/2022 19:45

@Sarah239 get the Uppababy Cruz! It does everything you want and lasts until they're three or four.

MissM94 · 03/02/2022 20:27

@Sarah239 I've gone for a venicci tinum, no idea how long it lasts but it's pretty durable so will be used for baby number 2, will probably go to a cheap buggy when this one is toddling about until baby 2 comes haha I'm saving every item I've bought this time for number 2 so I can get my moneys worth 😂😂

MissM94 · 03/02/2022 20:28

Had my 25 week midwife appointment today and got to hear baby boys heart beat 🥰 even if he was very cheeky and kept kicking the Doppler 😂😂 so in love, hurry up May! 💙

EastMidsGem · 03/02/2022 21:12

@Sarah239 we went for a joie versatrax package. We tried the pram out at Mamas & Papas and thought it was very lightweight. This package comes with 2 car seats (so if you already have those you might not be interested in the full package) and 2 attachments for pram - also the car seats fit the pram. Also has a travel cot and a few other bits. We're so happy with it and thought it was really good value. Just don't know if it fits the seats you've mentioned

EastMidsGem · 03/02/2022 21:21

And the car seats and pram last them up until around the age of 4 which was part of the appeal
