@Lianna93 I'm so glad your scan all went well! I had mine on Monday too ❤️ I have an anterior placenta so can't feel too much at the moment.

How're you feeling since your hospital trip hun? Sorry that you're suffering 😔 xx

Lianna93 · 16/02/2022 19:00

@Capricorn8990 My placenta is anterior as well, definitely feeling those kicks now but DH can't feel anything yet - he's really excited to be able to feel her kick 😂

I'm okay, stomach is still quite sore but to be expected. Managing to keep food down now & off work for the next couple of days so just taking the time to rest up.

@HotToddyColdSauvignon Thank you lovely, hope you're well x

KizboBaggins · 16/02/2022 19:31

@Lianna93 sorry you've been feeling poorly! When did you start feeling kicks? I'm so excited to feel them but nothing yet! I'm only 17+2 but I'm impatient Grin

Lianna93 · 16/02/2022 19:45

@KizboBaggins has only been the last week but they've getting more frequent & intense. Had a good few big kicks recently. You should start feeling some flutters in the next few weeks. Can take a while if your placenta is anterior :)

ChinChilly · 16/02/2022 20:01

I'm 18+4 and I'm 99% sure I felt first proper movement today! Not sure where my placenta is though, I've never been told.

My boss told me today I have to permanently work from home after 28 weeks as the corporate guidance isn't changing around covid anytime soon. Quite sad really means I've only really got the rest of Feb and Mar working with my colleagues, I don't go into the office everyday atm anyway but it's still nice to have a catch up with them.

KizboBaggins · 16/02/2022 20:37

@Lianna93 ahhh I can't wait! Is it amazing every time you feel it?

@ChinChilly that's interesting... I haven't been advised the same from my work! I'm also in a few days a week, which I enjoy and would be disappointed if I were you. From what I've read on Gov website, it seems as long as risk assessments are undertaken (and advise it's ok to continue) and risk mitigations in place, then it's not mandatory? Unless you're not in England? I think devolved nations are probs slightly different.

ChinChilly · 16/02/2022 20:46

@KizboBaggins I'm in England, I think the national guidelines have changed but our internal health and safety & HR aren't willing to take the risk. I work for a local council who are super risk averse anyway. My mom is actually a senior health and safety officer for the same council and she said policy isn't up for review any time soon, the policy even says if you can't work from home or be transferred to a role where you can then you're to remain home on full pay until maternity leave starts... crazy

KizboBaggins · 16/02/2022 20:52

@ChinChilly ahh I see sorry that makes sense now! Our place has been really good and conscious through the entire pandemic, but they're definitely easing off now and reviewing policies quite often. We deal with councils quite a lot so that makes sense Grin

Mind you that doesn't sound too bad... full pay until maternity and no work?! Dreamy.

ChinChilly · 16/02/2022 21:06

@KizboBaggins I've never known anything quite like working for a council, everything, even simple things take way longer than it should, every department is ridiculously understaffed and there is policies for policies... bizarre! I was hoping being sent home on full pay would be an option for me 😂😂

Lianna93 · 16/02/2022 21:54

@KizboBaggins They're very reassuring but personally, im not keen on the feeling 😬😂 My friend who's had 2 kids said she absolutely loved feeling the kicks though! 😂

purpleskyssssss · 17/02/2022 12:13

Hope everyone is doing well!

Feel like I haven't spoken on here for ages, nice to see people finding out the gender and having good 20 week scans, I am 20week 2 and I can't believe how fast it is going!

I have covid at the moment which I found very anxiety provoking especially when I first found out & it's meant I've had to re schedule my 20 week scan so have another week to wait.

I did ring the maternity assessment lastnight as has been having more cramps/ sharp shooting pains. They wasn't concerned and said this is normal at 20 weeks as so much growing going on - is anyone else experiencing more cramps at the moment?

The cramps are very short lived, not painful but I'm just noticing them and they are in the pelvic area - not sure if im just over thinking with having COVID and being a worrier!

Lianna93 · 17/02/2022 12:31

@purpleskyssssss Could be experiencing Braxton hicks - I had gotten period like pains & pains down my thighs that lasted about a minute then completely vanished. After a wee google search, confirmed Braxton hicks. Always thought they were a 3rd trimester thing but they happen right in the 1st but we'll start to noticed from 16w onwards.
I've got a lot of pelvis & back pain too that makes me waddle 🙃😂 I'm also 20w2d

Capricorn8990 · 17/02/2022 12:53

@purpleskyssssss heya lovely, I'm sorry you've got covid! I have had pains which I've been told too are very normal! It's usually round ligament pain with everything stretching! Xx

I just put some false lashes on and now I'm worried that I stupidly didn't do a patch test and I'm gonna have a reaction.. I haven't - yet and I use fake strip lashes all the time.. I'm being a bit OTT aren't I?

namechangeanonymous · 17/02/2022 13:20

My god the wobble is real, week 18,6!

purpleskyssssss · 17/02/2022 16:54

Thankyou both @Lianna93 @Capricorn8990

I did have the community midwife out today he was lovely, just couldn't shake feeling anxious and with the stomach cramps 😖

But alls well and babies heart was beating away, he did also say not to feel silly for ringing up especially at a FTM your not used to what is normal and what isn't

Coco9910 · 17/02/2022 23:08

@purpleskyssssss so sorry you have covid! Hope you are feeling better soon!

Sorry if this is a bit random, but are Lush bath bombs okay to use in the bath while pregnant?

Lianna93 · 17/02/2022 23:28

@Coco9910 I've been using mine & had no issues so far 😁

ChinChilly · 18/02/2022 07:53

@Coco9910 I've been using a few, there was a story years ago about a bath bomb which contained some kind of essential oil that was linked to helping kick start labour, i think the bath bomb was called sex bomb, some women tried it and it worked, dunno how true it was though. But i looked it up before i used them and they are generally considered safe to use

Coco9910 · 18/02/2022 08:58

@Lianna93 @ChinChilly amazing thank you both! I will steer clear of the sex bomb one just in case 😂

CaptainCarp · 18/02/2022 15:46

Hi all had my 20 week scan today. Had to come off her because i was getting myself a bit worried that hadn't felt movements!
Turned out i probably had but i thought they were ibs/gas 🤦‍♀️😂 i do have an anterior placenta so they may have been a bit muffled.

Baby was a little bit smaller than they'd hope but they checked blood flow which was fine & so they'd just put me on the "growth pathway" but I'm on it any way for being fat. Sonographer said not to worry as babies all grow at their own rate & often at the next growth scan they'll be "on target".

Told everyone at work now which is a relief as bump is getting bigger!

Hello hoping to join after months of silently following along (That makes me sound very creepy 😂) I am 20 weeks today and had my 20 week scan this morning which we were really nervous about as had a miscarriage this time last year but thankfully everything was looking great so finally feel like I can get excited :) due 8th July.

Porridgeislife · 18/02/2022 16:51

Welcome @kiwi17 (are you Kiwi? If so hello fellow Antipodean).

I’m 2 days behind you due 10th July. I’m glad to hear you scan was normal. Mine is next Friday and I’m hoping we can start daring to think there’s likely to be a take home baby at the end of this ❤️

strawberrysummer19 · 18/02/2022 17:01

@CaptainCarp congrats 🥳 I know the feeling I'm 17+3 and I haven't felt movement I don't think, movements yes but can't be sure it's baby
I have a gender scan tomorrow but also a well-being check so looking forward to that xx

kiwi17 · 18/02/2022 17:13

Thanks @Porridgeislife! No I'm not although husband's family are we live in the UK sadly... can't wait to visit again once we're allowed though! I also just really love kiwi birds 😊 haha. Oh definitely agree are you pregnant after a loss too? I've found it so hard this time round just not letting myself get attached buy finally feel like I'm a bit safer. Started feeling proper kicks last few days so that's helped. Hope everything goes smoothly for your scan next week. If it helps my sonographer said today 98% of the 20 week scans are absolutely fine and if the 2% where they see something most are treatable after birth 😊

KizboBaggins · 18/02/2022 18:17

@CaptainCarp congratulations! I don't know how you managed to go so long without telling colleagues. Mine had all guessed anyway tbf but I would've struggled to keep it a secret!

Did they tell you what having an anterior placenta means in terms of labour, or does it not mean anything really?

@kiwi17 welcome and congratulations!
