As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@clolo you could just buy a baby bath to use? That's what I'm contemplating in case we still haven't renovated the house

@SWAttempting brilliant news!! What gender did they guess at?? Was it using nub theory?

Bloody hell I've been trying since Wednesday to book NIPT in and no one is answering the phone or getting back to me! I think I might cave and book a second best option but I'd like OHs go ahead and typically he's out tonight.

larrythelizard · 07/01/2022 15:24

We got the snuggle bath for DS and it was great @clolo - you could easily use it in a shower for at least the first year, maybe even longer, I don't think lack of a bath is a problem.

Been for the scan, all fine, all as it should be, measuring 7+6 which is about where I thought I was. Baby looks like a pterodactyl - managed to see it all via abdominal scan which I was pleased about.

Also felt better than I have all week so went for lunch whilst we were there and I had a hankering for avo on toast which was delicious!

Now just got to hope it stays there!

Glad all was well @SWAttempting - do we assume boy then...?!

Oh I am no good at those @SWAttempting!

Minster2012 · 07/01/2022 16:19

@Juno231 there's no judgement here 😍

@SWAttempting excellent news 🙌🏻and I would say boy but I'm not sure whether it's a trick with those bits 😂

That shoulder thing is so random @bez91, mind you I've just tried some Frugi maternity bits on and I looked like a bin lady, one was huge & made me look full term, the others small, so disappointing

@clolo I also agree you can use smaller bath things you can put in the shower or on the floor, or use the sink a la @Juno231 with the petal thing or just use the shower until about 1 easily though it might make a difference how you reach into the shower or if you have to get in but we actually showered DS from a young age as told not to bath too much cos of his allergies. It's not hard to get around

@paintfairy babies love noise, I enjoyed the ability to take DS out for lunches & things & he'd sleep & I'd see my friends. The toddler bits less fun on that front.

@kaylsd they are spying on us 👀

@larrythelizard yessssssss amazing news that's so good and feeling better too! 🙌🏻🥰, soooooo excited for you, so just @Vil10 hoping to hear good news from 🤞🏻

paintfairy · 07/01/2022 16:38

@clolo 🤣 Stinky. But yes, a baby bath in the shower might work? Especially if it's a really large shower? Obviously most people use baby baths anyway (but put them in the bath). You can't really use them where you are going to splash water everywhere. Our shower you'd struggle because it's small and other than a really small baby bath, i think nothing would fit. But if you've got a huge shower tray then I don't think it would be an issue at all? Assuming you can lean in ok etc?
@kaylsd beef dripping? How standard is that?! I don't feel it is! But I need to try it!
@larrythelizard excellent news! All good. Will the Pterodactyl pic be on Instagram? 🤔😆
@SWAttempting good news about yours too! As for what it is, I've no bloody idea. I'm useless and can barely make out any living creature on them, let alone specific bits. The nurse theory things crack me up too because most photos they post i can't even see this 'nub'. 🤣
@Minster2012 bin lady. 🤣🤣🤣 God. I hate shopping in real life. But I hate internet shopping for that reason too. Unless it's a brand you are really familiar with, and their stuff is consistent, then most stuff ends up going back! 🙄

I've had a text reminder about my 12 week scan. The note on the bottom does say DH can come. 🤞

Minster2012 · 07/01/2022 16:40

Oh and you get told about safe sleeping stuff, SIDS by the midwife, health visitor & others. I've still not been told about the side sleeping though & it's not in a leaflet I've been given 🤷🏼‍♀️my pillow and I are gradually getting to know each other but when I can't breathe it's whatever is comfy tbh

Minster2012 · 07/01/2022 16:40

That was aimed at @paintfairy

paintfairy · 07/01/2022 16:43

@Minster2012 oh good! That's one thing. I was wondering how people coped before the Internet otherwise! It'll be interesting to see how much you are told actually, given the current climate. Someone did tell me about the side sleeping (I know that's more for later on) and I will at some point investigate the pregnancy pillows.
@Juno231 rubbish about the tests. How ridiculous? You'd think they'd want the business.

Minster2012 · 07/01/2022 16:50

@Juno231 ooooo sorry didn't see the test thing, I was distracted by your pic of the baby! You do what you feel is best I'm sure it won't matter too much to DH

blackcurrantqueen · 07/01/2022 16:53

@larrythelizard yay!!!! Brilliant news 🥰

Kate105 · 07/01/2022 16:56

Just jumping on to say LIME PICKLE IS LIFE (I eat it straight from the jar 😍) and TSD is a prick. After one night of only 2 wake ups, just to prove he can still do it, we were back to the hourly party arm last night AAAAAARGH. He's currently supposed to be napping on me but is in fact just gently sucking my neck. Prick.

DKDK123 · 07/01/2022 16:58

@paintfairy you could in theory put them upstairs to sleep with a monitor but the putting them in another room to sleep isn't recommended due to SIDS, it just depends on what you're comfortable with, the same with using the snoozepods etc, just read up all the info and guidelines and make your personal decision from there you'll always get people on both sides of the fence and no matter what you choose once baby's here you'll find someone who visits will always have an opinion regardless 🤦‍♀️. Personally the thought of SIDS terrified the life out of me and I followed every guideline to the letter but was still paranoid and constantly checking he was still breathing. I dont know if that was partly due to him being a premie tho and needing a breathing tube when he was born that made me extra paranoid.

@kaylsd the doona car seat strollers look very convenient but it'd depend where you were going with them. It's recommended not to leave baby in a car seat any longer than 45min stretches at a time as it can effect their breathing so depending on how long your journey was to get to where you were going it might not be as practical as a pram with a lie flat carrycot.

@SWAttempting glad to hear your scan went well 😁 can they tell the gender that early?

@clolo we only have a shower, I had a baby bath for DS and once he got bigger I just bought the bigger baby/toddler plastic bath sat in the shower which he used right up till he was 4. Obviously he couldn't lie down in it once bigger but he was happy just to sit in it. Now he takes showers, I would have switched to showers earlier but he was absolutely terrified of our shower until he was 4, now he loves a shower. I've also seem people use blow up paddling pools in the bottom of the shower as a bath or the big round plastic gardening/storage tubs as a toddler bath.

@Juno231 that's crazy you've been trying since Wednesday and still haven't managed to book one! Hope you get something soon.

@larrythelizard glad all is doing well at the scan and baby has graduated to pterodactyl looking stage 😂

larrythelizard · 07/01/2022 17:40

That is mad @Juno231 - I would agree that you'd think they want the business!

@Minster2012 thanks for the peg tip, I'll try anything at this point! Although it's not lasted all day today which is a positive sign.

Yes that's good DH can go with you @paintfairy. I got some stuff from New Look when pregnant with DS, also next.

I've had beef dripping chips (most memorably at Rick Stein's fish and chip chain in Cornwall) @kaylsd and agree they were incredible. Also mushy peas made with beef fat 👌🏻

Completely agree @bez91, no need to clean your house 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

It's always worse when they've done it once @Kate105 - I was really chilled about DS (not) sleeping through the night, figured he'd do it when he was ready, then he did it once and then not again for a good 2 months. Little shitbag!

paintfairy · 07/01/2022 17:41

@DKDK123 I think I would be scared too! I know it seems less common these days but I just literally cannot imagine going through that.
Omg - forgot to say before- we went out earlier and stuck at a train line. There was some poor woman with a running type pram also waiting, who was probably wondering what on earth I was staring at, as I was trying to look what make it was. 🤣 It said nothing on the frame and had an adjustable handle, so couldn't have been a summit @Minster2012 but it looked OK. I definitely need to investigate them though. I was watching a video on the summit and I see why it works as an every day pram too, so maybe something like that would be an option for us and then we'd only need the 1 pram. My only doubt is the handle though not being adjustable? I would need to try one. And DH is also clearly taller than me. Do you find it ok? I'm about 5ft 4 so I'm not tall.
I'm permanently bloody starving! Raaarrr. I weighed myself yesterday though and I'm still 5lb lighter than pre IVF. Christ knows how.

becarefuloutthere · 07/01/2022 17:41

@bez91 sounds like that sick day was much needed!
@Minster2012 I'm down for the pickled onion eating championship! 😋 loving yesterdays lunch 🤤
Oh and my mate who is CEV was told to get 4 jabs too, she hasn't yet!
@Vil10 I'm paying for it now, feel ments orients! Loving your focus on the future btw, sounds like such a good plan!
@paintfairy I tried not giving mine once and she was so insistent, I was like it's pointless it was ivf so it doesn't correlate with my usual cycle. 🤦🏾‍♀️ on the sleep front we've got a next to me for first six months and a cot set up for when we can move her, which turns into a cot bed when she's older. I have a pram cot thing for naps. No Moses basket as mil said she wanted me to have dhs but have I seen it yet...nope! 🙄
@Sunbird24 so sorry to hear about your news hun. Have also messaged on our other group 😘
@Ltay2 aw so lovely to hear from you and see little one. I'm glad you're loving motherhood!
@Kate105 oh the sleep demon! Understood now thanks 😊 I thought it was "the step daughter" and always got confused when you'd say ds 😂
@Juno231 I started picking at my belly button lap scar, I don't recommend as it started looking scabby 🙈 I've stopped now and moisture it and it looks fine now!
@SWAttempting great news on the scan! X

I hope the other two scans go well today!

Have skim read the latest msgs but agree that lime pickle is life, though I only ever have it with poppadoms when having a curry. I should start branching out with it shouldn't I.

I've set the table for the competition @becarefuloutthere 😂thanks for the info on the jabs I will look into it

I thought it meant "tiny sleep demon" @Kate105 but same difference really. I'm afraid kids are manipulative from day one, he just loves your attention. Like @bez91 says he'll do it then be like "ha ha just keeping you on your toes!"

@DKDK123 has great advice @paintfairy you just have to research (endlessly) & decide where you stand on things, ppl will always judge & pass comment or do things differently.

You should've just asked her what the pram is! @paintfairy our summit is fine for both DH (6'5/6) and me (5'5), as is the mini gt but that has an adjustable handle. The summit is bulky & heavy to fold in and out of the car though. The gt is literally one hand fold. You should be able to find an out n about nipper to try somewhere

I haven't had a proper chance to catch up due to being quite poorly and sleeping a lot.

@Sunbird24 I'm so sorry 😞 no words will help right now but know we all are here for you xxxx

Managed to get out of bed today and start to function a little bit but Jesus!! I dread to think how I'd have been without my vaccinations- I had the first 2 before/during TTC and my booster 3 weeks ago.

Vil10 · 07/01/2022 20:41

@SWAttempting amazing news!! So happy for you❤️

@larrythelizard so glad it was good news for you lovely❤️

Sorry late update from me, but baby was growing and measuring perfectly at 9w6d, with a good strong heartbeat again, we even saw he/she moving, waving its little arms about🥺

Minster2012 · 07/01/2022 20:43

@Lexber sending you all the love too, you stay taking care of yourself and those babies darling

@paintfairy maybe look at the baby jogger elite? I think the bigger carrycot (the deluxe) fits on it whereas only the compact carry cot fits on the summit is memory is right. We've got both the compact carrycot & the deluxe & the compact & the compact is very small but we still used it for 5 months 😂 or you can just use the prams as lie flat but baby faces away from you

blackcurrantqueen · 07/01/2022 21:02

@Vil10 yay amazing news !! What was your mums reaction??

So of all the baby discussions here is my round up for you all... 😂

Beds : snuzpod in lounge, seat in kitchen, next2me in bedroom

Baths : wouldn't worry about a bath @clolo you can def use a baby bath for ages (or kitchen sink,, actually a lovely height post birth!) we've got a tub thing for the baby then will throw them in with DD too

Car seats : just one infant carrier, im an extended rear facing snob so DD went into an axkid minikid which will last her to 25kg when she outgrew her infant carrier (actually a lot later than you expect and they are the safest things for them so keep them in as long as possible!)

Snuzpod: have one and love it, will use again, know not recommended 🤷🏼‍♀️

Buggies : I've got an icandy peach and a phill and teds sport, I had a baby jogger city mini. The phill and teds can fit another seat when the baby is a bit bigger. I am hopefully picking up a mountainbuggy duet this weekend which is a double buggy which can have a parent facing bassinet 🤞🏼👍🏼

Safe sleep: DD was in with us until gone six months for no reason other than ease really 😂 baby will be the same; she won't nap unsupervised but I'm not precious about leaving for five minutes whilst they're asleep if that makes sense

Anything else? 😂😂😂

Minster2012 · 07/01/2022 21:16

Yep pickle debate @blackcurrantqueen 😂😂

paintfairy · 07/01/2022 21:25

@blackcurrantqueen I thought a snuzpod was a bedside side sleeper thing? Which i thought was ok?
@Minster2012 soooo many options. 🤣 I'll have a look.
@Vil10 good news about the scan!
