@Minster2012 matalan have a good baby sale on at the moment if you haven't looked there yet. I got a couple of wee soft pram shoes in different sizes up to 9months for about £2.50 each. As kids are notorious for always losing one shoe I figured I wouldn't mind at that price! She'll mainly be in socks or barefoot but wee pram shoes are nice for going out special occasions. And I got some dresses for under £5 too.
@Vil10 if opening a nursery is something you'd like to do why not start off a bit smaller while your first is young and register to become a childminder. It'd save you on childcare fees and you could eventually expand into a nursery? One of my work colleagues became a childminder till her LO went to school for the very reason of saving on childcare fees while also earning. My house isn't big enough to do childminding or I'd seriously have considered it too.
@paintfairy on the sleep chat, for DS we had a small rocking crib (again 2nd hand with new mattress) beside my bed for the first 6months. I liked the rocking one as if he started to stir before feed time I could just lean across and gently rock it while still half asleep without having to get up. Down stairs we had a moses basket, it was actually one a friend bought us as a baby present, they cost a lot but I often seen them on market place too. Its a travel one so can fold up when you need space but good for taking places like grandparents house or if you go away. We liked it as grandparents have a nosey, over friendly dog that licks all the time and it's got a top mesh thing you can zip up if you're out of the room to make sure dog isn't in licking the baby while you're at the loo or something. Once DS was 6months he was in a normal cot in his room both for nights and daytime naps.
@ltay2 10months already that seems to have flown in! Uh oh the crawling stage where you now need eyes on the back of your head as they're no longer where you left them and usually into something they shouldn't be 😂 I remember someone saying to me when DS was born to treasure the newborn stage as that was the easy bit. I remember being so tired and thinking how the hell is this the easy bit!? But once they reached the moving stage I realised they were right. Newborns just eat, sleep & shit, they stay exactly where you left them once they're mobile you're definitely kept on your toes more! 😂
@minster2012 I had to Google the baby hammock thing as I hadn't heard of it before. I want one for me not baby, they look well comfy! 😂
Took me literally all day yesterday just to gloss 3 doors and their frames front to back as the smell of the gloss was making me feel sick so had to keep doing it in 15min bursts then going downstairs for 15 to escape the smell. It was one of those why did I ever start this jobs. DS comes back today and I'm now thinking why did I not just spend yesterday resting 🤦♀️
