Itsabean · 01/01/2022 10:58

@FeeneeTTC @Coco9910 I tested positive on Wednesday, and I also had my first phone call yesterday with the midwife! She just asked what my symptoms are, I told her how I was feeling, and she put me in a low risk categories, and said just to rest! I wouldn’t panic over it, I think it’s just if you’re feeling really bad, and showing symptoms that could be dangerous for the baby, they’d ask you to come in! Hope this helps abit Smile

FeeneeTTC · 01/01/2022 11:04

Thanks @Itsabean - I wasn’t going to mention it to the midwife as I feel fine, but the message from nhs said I should do I think I’ll just email. Thanks for letting us know about your experience that’s helpful. Hope you’re doing ok too x

Firsttimetrier · 01/01/2022 12:53

Morning all, happy new year 🥳

I’m 9+3 today and noticed that my nausea isn’t as bad as it was. Should I be concerned? I know some people say that the placenta can take over at this stage, so hoping it’s that and nothing worse.
That said, I was physically sick last night which seemed to be bought on from travel sickness, which I’ve developed during this pregnancy.

Coco9910 · 01/01/2022 13:50

@Itsabean thank you for this info! I will contact the midwife if I feel poorly / get a fever.

@Firsttimetrier I don’t think you should be concerned - symptoms come and go! I was getting really travel sick the last couple of weeks, but seem to be better the last week. I’m trying to think that there’s no reason to worry if I have no pain / bleeding.

Bit of a random question, but does anyone know what temperature is suitable for baths for us? I usually have my bath really hot so I’ve just not been having any, but thinking of getting a themometer to get the right temperature so I can enjoy a bath again 😂

Firsttimetrier · 01/01/2022 14:55

@Coco9910 you are probably right, so hard not to question everything when things seem to change day to day!

For baths, I think you can have them if they don’t raise your core temperature, which is roughly around 39c, I think!

Aims1991 · 01/01/2022 16:00

@Firsttimetrier I was really unwell during the week, wasn't sick but the nausea was for full days and I struggled to eat and drink anything. Then woke yesterday and I was fine and today I'm ok too. So weird that they come and go

Glittergirl2 · 01/01/2022 20:01

Happy New Year ladies, did everyone have a good one? We went for a private scan on Thursday as I was starting to panic that my nhs one was really close to 14 weeks and didn’t want to miss the screening. So far everything looks ok 🤞🏻 And their measurements makes me 11+2 today so I’ll be 13+6 at my scan so hoping it’ll be ok. My booking appointment picked up I have a water infection so currently half way through antibiotics and it’s making me feel rubbish 😭 I’ve never had one before, has anyone else had one through pregnancy?

Squiff70 · 01/01/2022 20:49

Hi everyone, Happy New Year to you all!

So sorry some of you are fighting Covid too. The main thing is to keep hydrated and keep any fevers under control. I hope none of you have a rough ride with it.

I'm 6+1 today. I booked a private scan for next Friday (7th) afternoon when I'll be exactly 7 weeks as despite being offered an early scan on the NHS on Tuesday morning and allowing partners in, they will not under any circumstances allow children and we have no childcare arrangements for our 2 year old daughter. I had to cancel the NHS scan and book privately. However, if there's a lockdown between now and Friday - which there might well be - our daughter won't be able to go and I'll lose my deposit. What a bloody mess. I only begged for an early scan as I'm still in a complete tizz over potentially there being more than one in there again.

Has anyone else got insane itching? Mine flares up mostly on my fet but also on my hands and anywhere else on my body. Literally no part of me has been unaffected by it. I had severe itching in my last pregnancy and my consultant refused to test me for obstetic cholestasis on the basis that even if I had it, he wouldn't treat me for it. That consultant was a total pig and was never kind to us. He wouldn't recommend NCT classes when we asked about them and after our son died neonatally he said "well that's what happens when you're born at 23 weeks". Apparently I'll be under him again as he does all the high risk pregnancies in this area. Nightmare.

Rachae · 01/01/2022 22:38

@Glittergirl2 congratulations on your scan! I think your 13 week one will be just fine if you've made it this far 😊 I got a water infection just before Xmas and was initially put on Amoxicillin - it gave me severe stomach cramps and worried me so much! Then switched to Nitrofurantin. (Wrong spelling) seems to have cleared up but going to do another sample next week to check and be on the safe side. Never felt any side effects with these antibiotics compared to the horrid Amoxicillin!

Glittergirl2 · 02/01/2022 08:59

@Rachae thanks for your reply I’ve just looked and the antibiotics I’m on are called macrobid, I’ve just googled them and it comes up with macrobid (nitrofurantoin) so I must be on the same as your second course. I seem to be having every side effect that’s listed 😭 which is pretty annoying as I didn’t even realise I had a water infection but I understand its important I get it cleared up. Im over half way through the course so hoping not much longer of feeling away with the fairies 🙈

This is a lovely idea, thanks @Firsttimetrier

Hope everyone’s well, I’m currently struggling with what’s a covid symptom and what’s a pregnancy symptom!
Anyone else really off food atm? :(

Massively off food at the moment 🤢 but cannot be sure if that's pregnancy related or medication (recently started on insulin). I've found all I can do is nibble throughout the day, letting myself get too hungry between 3 normal meals a day just results in me feeling incredibly sick, and then I can't eat my meal, so grazing all day it is! Hope you're coping ok x
ellie1789 · 02/01/2022 10:00

@Squiff70 My midwife said to urgently call them if I had itching on my hands or feet, but everywhere else was fine. Is there no way that you could ask for someone else? You should have made a complaint about your experience!

Coco9910 · 02/01/2022 10:22

Nice idea @Firsttimetrier :) my scan feels like it’s ages away but tomorrow I can say it’s at the end of next week!

@ellie1789 my email from the hospital says to call within 24 hours if you have itchy hands or feet. I would if I thought they might take it seriously but at just 6 weeks I doubt it. I'll mention it at my booking appointment though, unless it gets worse.

I didn't make a complaint- my son had just passed away and my daughter was fighting for her life in NICU. Complaining was the last thing on my mind. I did ask for a different consultant this time but apparently he's the only one who leads on high risk pregnancies so at the moment I have no choice in the matter. I won't be taking any shit from him though.

Rachae · 02/01/2022 11:51

@Firsttimetrier great idea! I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and still haven't had the 12 week scan appointment 🙈 I reckon mine might be more like 14 weeks at this rate! Xx

@Squiff70 hopefully you get an attentive midwife and your blood tests show if there's anything wrong. It's so scary putting all your trust in the health professionals isn't it

Yes don't stand for any shit this time - I can only imagine that he made the awful situation 10x worse. Keeping everything crossed for a positive experience this time

Hi all, got my 12 week scan on 24th. I had 2 early scans as I didn’t show up as pregnant until what I thought was 6 weeks into the pregnancy, which the midwife thought could indicate an ectopic pregnancy, but it actually turned out that I must have ovulated later than expected. At the last scan we saw the foetus and heard the heartbeat which was amazing. I’m having some anxiety now over waiting another 3 weeks till the next scan, I think because of reading so many stories of MMCs and the like. Hoping that all will be ok. Glad to connect with you!
