Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who have been through treatment or faced infertility and are finally pregnant.

I have just got my BFP following frozen embryo transfer! It is still very early early days but I've had my beta today at 11dp5dt which was 474 so very pleased.

It's now the anxious wait to the 7 week scan at the end of the month!

Well it’s a good job I didn’t book in with the midwife. Baby stopped growing about a week ago.

Shroedy · 06/01/2022 19:22

Oh @Sunbird24 I'm so sorry to hear that. I know that some random person on the internet offering you support means not very much but we have all been through so much of the absolute trash that IVF can throw at you and the crushing disappointments. Take the time to grieve and get your head straight. We're here if you need to rant / emote. Hope you have all the love and support around you. ❤️

Chrischross · 06/01/2022 20:47

@Sunbird24, sorry to hear about this. There is nothing that can be said that will make the situation any better but I really do hope you find comfort in something to help you get through this.

ToCaden · 07/01/2022 13:22

@sunbird24 sorry you had such bad news. Please remember to take time for yourself and allow yourself to be supported if you need it.

Starlight2021 · 07/01/2022 14:19

@Sunbird24 I’m so sorry, it’s such terrible news and although nothing I can say will help, I do know what you’re going through and wish you nothing but a healed heart. Take care of yourself x

Cakecakecheese · 07/01/2022 15:59

@Sunbird24 I'm so sorry xx

Chrischross · 09/01/2022 20:02

Happy Sunday everyone, was wondering if everyone is still on progesterone and oestrogen. I had my final progesterone oil injections on Thursday and I have never been happier. Those things were brutal and I am still so sore but feeling like I have more energy.

How is everyone getting on?

ToCaden · 10/01/2022 08:36

@Chrischross I stopped progesterone suppositories very early, but will be carrying on with a little progesterone cream until 12 weeks. More for my piece of mind than anything else. Will start decreasing the dose around ten weeks.

As to how I'm doing, morning sickness has amped up last couple days. Getting worried about how this work week is going to go, to the point I'm wondering whether I need to mention something to my line manager as pretty sure my performance is going to take more of a nosedive than it has already.

Thankfully working from home so can nap during breaks which helps. Some days I just want to sleep crazy amounts.

Playing about with what foods help and which don't. Focusing on the fact that first trimester only has a few weeks left.

I miss the weekend. I could sleep whenever I needed and be vertical for a while when my back started aching.

Cramps left for a bit, but are back today. Anyone know if those stop after first trimester or keep going?

Cakecakecheese · 10/01/2022 08:43

I stopped progesterone last week. I wish I'd thought of cream.

I have my last Clexane injection tonight which I am happy about. Those injections are brutal.

Shroedy · 10/01/2022 14:48

I've not been on progesterone jabs at all on my protocol (just pessaries, which I'll be continuing until 12 weeks). Suspect they are not helping my mood!

I'm pretty stressed at the moment as my symptoms have all but disappeared. Almost no nausea, boobs aren't really sore. Still tired (but that's always the case anyway!) and still have a dry mouth and need to pee all the time but it's majorly stressing me out. I know, logically, that this is not uncommon and that it's not necessarily indicative of an MMC, with continuing symptoms not necessarily a sign that everything is fine. Thinking of booking another early scan but worried that it'll only be pandering to the anxiety and I'll be just as stressed within a day or two. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Chrischross · 10/01/2022 21:41

@ToCaden ooh I’ve never heard of progesterone cream, sounds like a great idea. I can relate to the tiredness. My nausea disappeared but the tiredness is unreal.

@Christmascakecakecheese I had suppositories with my last cycle. My protocol this time was 1 prostap injection, then oestrogen tablets for 12 days. I was feeling quite smug until about 6 days before transfer when I started transfer.

@Shroedy ahh totally understandable but try not to stress. When I was pregnant with DS I was exactly the same. I had no symptoms whatsoever so I booked a scan at 10 weeks. I then bought a home Doppler which I used for ages until I realised one day that the sound I assumed was the baby’s heartbeat, was just a random artery. So the me trying to reassure myself was actually pointless in the end and I the midwives massively told me off for it

Shroedy · 12/01/2022 20:47

@Chrischross thanks for that. Sometimes it's hard to keep a lid on the crazy 😂😂😂 - I have heard that re at home dopplers! DH is a medic and apparently my suggestion of finding a midwife who needed to rent a room for the next 7 months and had her own ultrasound machine wasn't to be taken seriously 😉

My nausea has returned pretty strongly after a 5 day or so absence, which is a good sign. My husband took an exec decision to book another scan (consultant had suggested NHS might offer me one before 12 weeks anyway but are being slow to process my booking form so that's the excuse). If everything is OK on Friday then hopefully I'll be chilled if it happens again. Ok, maybe not chilled but less anxious! Here's hoping... 🤞

ToCaden · 13/01/2022 11:28

@shroedy there was someone who posted (I honestly forget where I saw the post) that they did an early scan once a week during first trimester to help with their anxiety. If you can justify the cost to yourself, then why not do an extra scan. Unless you do it every day it's not going to damage anything. Plus there's nothing like the relief of seeing that little fluttering blob on the screen.

Exhausted and nauseated here. I have to work until five pm today and every minute is grating on me. Plus my back aches after sitting a couple hours. I've taken to just heading straight to bed with an audiobook after work, and it's bliss (assuming nausea is mild enough). Sometimes I fall asleep right away.

Second half of booking appointment on Monday, after I've had a go at tackling the paperwork. Then assuming the next appointment will be the twelve week scan which is feeling more and more like a moment of truth.

Shroedy · 14/01/2022 09:55

Thanks @ToCaden. You are right that there's no reason to deny yourself, and we can afford the extra scan. It's a balance between not wanting to give yourself a crutch and getting reassurance! Glad that my husband booked the scan as we had it this morning and everything is perfect. Measuring as baby should, actually heard and didn't just see the heartbeat 💗 and looking very much more like a baby than a blob - could make our head, hands and feet. So relieved!

Sorry you're feeling so nauseated and tired - it's so hard at a point when so few people know! I have been so unproductive at work, partly because I've been anxious and partly because symptoms came back. Ended up telling a couple of people I wasn't well as my workload can be all hours at times and couldn't manage if it ramped up. Are you able to break up your day at all?

ToCaden · 15/01/2022 20:15

@shroedy thankfully I work from home so can spend much of my usual breaks horizontal which seems to help.

I got my twelve week scan date through the post. 2nd Feb. Nervous there will be a problem (all these symptoms coming and going don't help), but am quietly hopeful I'll get to see baby looking more like an actual baby rather than a blob.

Anyone else got a date for their twelve week scan yet?

Chrischross · 19/01/2022 17:33

@ToCaden I have mine next Wednesday. Can’t wait. You must be so excited about yours

ToCaden · 20/01/2022 11:51

@Chrischross oooo.... Next Wednesday. Not long at all. I'm looking forward to mine (barring any bad news). I feel like if everything looks fine at twelve weeks I can breathe a sigh of relief.

theotherfossilsister · 20/01/2022 12:23

Hey, I was on this thread before but left because of extreme anxiety which is still terrible. I'm nine weeks two days and have Covid which is horrible as it's so scary. Three x jabbed but midwife refused to reassure me on phone. I have anti ro as well so wanted to know if blood thinners were a good idea

Really good to see so many people having scans. I'm getting an ultrasound direct one when Covid is over and terrified. I'm glad yours went amazingly @Shroedy - I'm a bit scared as don't know what they'd do if mine didn't

MrsLA88 · 20/01/2022 17:26

Hi everyone! I've been absent but only because I've been sooooo sick and nauseous 😭 I've been given an antihistamine which is really helping but I've been struggling to work and not sleep all day lol

I've also booked in a private scan for this Saturday! I need the reassurance as I've not got my midwife appointment until next week and so I don't think I'll get my 12 week scan on time.

I hope everyone is ok? @theotherfossilsister I'm so sorry you have covid. I've had it but not whilst pregnant, just rest up and drink lots of water x

Shroedy · 20/01/2022 18:51

Nice to see this thread pick up a little again!

@theotherfossilsister sorry midwife wasn't too reassuring. Covid itself shouldn't pose a risk to baby, risks tend to arise if you get a temperature but you can take paracetamol if you think you're feeling unwell with it and that should control any increase. Rest up and look after yourself!

I got my booking appointment through for 27/1 when I'll be bang on 11 weeks, preceded by a scan. I'm not sure if that's my 12 week but early (you can have it from 11 I understand) or the additional scan I was told I might have. I'm hoping the latter as I really rather want a check on or after that 12 week mark as that feels like a bit of a watershed. I'll see what they say.

@MrsLA88 sorry you've been feeling so rough! At least the end is hopefully in sight with the end of the first trimester and you've found something that helps. My symptoms have all but disappeared for the second time, although I'm more relaxed since my panic scan last week and fact I have another in a week. Enjoy that scan, if it gives you a bit of peace of mind and the opportunity for that special little view of baby then definitely a good idea!

Chrischross · 20/01/2022 23:17

@ToCaden I am but honestly I still can’t quite believe I’m pregnant. I am 12 weeks today and it still feels surreal.

@theotherfossilsister how annoying about midwife. If it’s any consolation I had COVID over Christmas and midwife didn’t bat an eyelid when I mentioned this at my booking. She was very attentive about everything else having gone through IVF herself so her not being concerned reassured me.
Good luck with your scan.

Novavee · 21/01/2022 16:49

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all doing well.

I had my 12 week scan today and it was a lovely experience. Such a difference from the blob from my 6 week scan! The baby was so active, it wouldn't stop moving around. It took forever to do the scan, because it just wouldn't stay still long enough to get the measurements they needed. I also got the results of my combined tests at the same time and came back as low risk.

@Chrischross good luck for your scan next week!

@ToCaden hope these two weeks fly by for you. There is definitely a massive difference. On my 6 week scan all I could see was an elongated blob. Today it was an actual (albeit tiny) baby. One head, two arms, two legs that wouldn't stop kicking about. The contour of a little face... the difference is amazing.

@theotherfossilsister I am sorry you have been anxious and you've got Covid to add to your anxiety. I hope you are having it mild and no symptoms to worry about. Good luck with your scan.

@MrsLA88 I am sorry you have been sick. The first trimester is definitely not easy. I was not prepared for how awful I felt at times. Good luck with your scan tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Shroedy · 22/01/2022 12:37

@Novavee so glad you had a great 12-week scan! I ended up having two scans relatively close together, 7 weeks and 9 weeks and even the difference then was amazing, from blob to something discernibly baby-shaped. It really is amazing when you read in pregnancy books how much is already there and just developing for the next 6-7 months - not just organs but starts of hair, fingernails etc. Boggles the mind a little!

Not much to report from my end, waiting for booking appointment and scan on Thursday.

ToCaden · 22/01/2022 13:12

@mrsla88 good luck for your scan! Smile

Nice to see people checking in. Looks like we have a few twelve week scans coming up which is exciting.

I made the mistake of stating out loud on Wednesday that I thought the nausea was getting better. Do not tempt the universe. Had to stop work early on Thurs due to acid reflux and morning sickness, and so tired out by that point I fell straight to sleep for a couple hours. Bad again Friday, but trying some new meds which I'm hoping will work.

I'll be 11 weeks on Wednesday so hoping people are right when they say it gets better in second trimester.

MrsLA88 · 22/01/2022 14:05

Hi everyone! We've just got back baby is great! They were wiggling around and stretching their legs I just cried watching them 😭

Is it real yet?! I'm still nauseous but I did say today I'm feeling better.. whoops lol better take that back lol

Hope everyone has good weekends x
