Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who have been through treatment or faced infertility and are finally pregnant.

I have just got my BFP following frozen embryo transfer! It is still very early early days but I've had my beta today at 11dp5dt which was 474 so very pleased.

It's now the anxious wait to the 7 week scan at the end of the month!

@Northandsouth85 how are you getting on this morning? I think the occasional brown tinge is ok when you wipe is fairly common. Though understandably it is worrying.

Lori23TTC · 27/12/2021 17:03

@Northandsouth85 hey, try not to worry about a brown tinge.. I know how worrying it is tho.. last Tuesday I had red blood when I wiped then it turned to brown and got less and less. I went for an emergency scan I was 5+6 and we got a heartbeat and baby is measuring exactly 5+6. I also got the same on Christmas morning the red blood then brown.. my next scan is next week so just trying not to stress out to much in-between! My nurse said some blood and brown spotting is normal it’s only if it’s quite heavy and if you get severe cramps with it that you should worry. So just monitor it. If it’s just brown it’s likely to be old blood coming out your uterus making space for baby xx

Think quite a few people have scans lined up this week. Mine is tomorrow and I'm a little worried. Good luck to everyone else with their scan on the 29th.

Exhausted lately. Sleeping what feels like almost all the time, and tired when awake.

Shroedy · 28/12/2021 16:11

Good luck @ToCaden. Mine is Friday and I know exactly how you feel. It feels like it can't come quickly enough but I'm also absolutely petrified at the same...

Symptoms are relatively stable at the moment. I'm also permanently exhausted and seem to be sleeping badly, naps a must. Sore boobs and some nausea but it's more a queasiness than anything else.

MrsLA88 · 29/12/2021 10:08

Morning everyone good luck today @ToCaden please update us!

I feel soo nauseous in the mornings at the moment 😩 it usually happens when I'm hungry so I feel like I need to snack on crackers to just warn it off.

My scans on Friday and I'm so nervous x

Shroedy · 29/12/2021 12:44

@MrsLA88 up until today my nausea was generally in the afternoon / early evening. Today it started as soon as I got out of bed. I'm supposed to be working today but I can't say I'm achieving much! Anyone found any foods / supplements that help? I'm eating a load of ginger but not sure it's making any difference (other than who doesn't feel better after a ginger snap?)

Cleozeta · 29/12/2021 12:56

Hi, congrats to all. I'm 9+6 from IVF (donor egg) and its twins, eek!!!
Still on sooo much medication, will be on all that until 12+6, so another 3 weeks. Looking forward to, and anxious about 12 week scan on 18th Jan. How is everyone doing?

ToCaden · 29/12/2021 12:58

Just got back from my scan! All looks good and I got to see the heartbeat. Feeling so relieved right now.

@shroedy I'm finding car sickness wrist bands useful for the nausea. The most useful thing I found was to eat something small every four hours or so including keeping something by my bed to snack on during the night. I get nauseous whenever my stomach gets too empty. Ginger ale also seems to help.

Shroedy · 29/12/2021 13:24

@ToCaden congrats, that's such good news! Must have been so exciting! Hopefully if everyone is getting positive news from the scans over the next day or two I'll be panicking less by Friday 😂

Thanks for the suggestion of travel sickness bands - I'll be Amazoning some ASAP...

MrsLA88 · 29/12/2021 13:55

@ToCaden that's amazing congratulations! What a relief you must feel.

@Shroedy I agree any time my stomach feels empty I feel sick so I've been eating ginger biscuits even when I'm not hungry. It's mad I'll fancy something one min and the next it's making me wretch 🤣

I'm working tomorrow I don't think I'll get much done either lol x

Shroedy · 29/12/2021 13:59

@Cleozeta welcome! I'm 6+6, also with donor egg. It's petrifying and amazing in equal amounts...

Wow, twins! Did you have multiples transferred? Will definitely be quite a ride, but can't argue with two for the price of one!

Novavee · 29/12/2021 17:42

@ToCaden great news about your scan.

@Cleozeta welcome and congratulations on your twins. That's amazing!

8+3 today and the nausea has increased, which made the return to the office that much difficult. Snacking definitely helps but I'm finding most food unappetising this week and I can't even look at another ginger biscuit.

ToCaden · 29/12/2021 17:43

@cleozeta twins, wow. Welcome to the thread. The twelve week scan is such a milestone and 18th Jan doesn't seem that far off now we're nearing the end of December.

I told my GP surgery today and they already booked me in with the midwife for a review next week. Didn't expect one so soon. I assume the first one is just a chat to make sure I'm not binging alcohol or something stupid? Or is it more involved? I'll be eight weeks exactly at that point.

Do we have anyone due a scan tomorrow (30th?) or is Friday the next one?

Cleozeta · 29/12/2021 19:59

Thanks for the welcome!

@Shroedy congrats to you too! Donor egg is a scary prospect, but also exciting! We only had one transferred but it split, so they will be identical. We had 4 failed transfers with a previous donor and this was our first round with a new one!

MrsLA88 · 30/12/2021 12:39

@Cleozeta that's amazing! My husband is hoping for twins 😂 did you find out at your 7 week scan?

For anyone nauseous I've got some sickness bands and they seem to be working but I'm not sure if it's a placebo? I'm ok with it as long as it works lol x

Shroedy · 30/12/2021 12:40

@Cleozeta ah, it's not the DE element that's stressful (although finding a suitable donor was a real difficulty for us) but not quite believing things might actually be going right! This was our first donor transfer but we had 5 years of treatment and IVF before. I think you just get used to things going wrong! Sounds like you've been through the ringer as well but new donor has come up trumps 😊

Amyhope123 · 30/12/2021 12:49

Congratulations guys on your BFP’s I hope you all have healthy pregnancies.
This is a bit of topic but my first fresh cycle failed and I’m not going to start my frozen transfer and I’m just looking for some tips. My clinic is only given my oestradiol tablets to thicken my lining and then cyclogest pesseries. I have asked for additional progesterone tablets but the doctors won’t allow them. I’m trying my best to make sure this next transfer works.
Please can you share any tips

ToCaden · 30/12/2021 13:10

@Amyhope123 beetroot juice. I drank lots of it around the time little one would be implanting. Don't know if it helped, but there's actually some scientific basis for it helping implantation enough that a few clinics prescribe it.

Other than that I tried to focus on other things. My way of doing that was to finally add a second cat to my household which along with being a fun distraction was brilliant overall as my grumpy fourteen year old cat loves her. They're cuddling as I type which if you knew how nervous and antisocial my older cat was prekitten you'd know how big a deal it is. Bermese kittens appear to be charmers of even the grumpiest cats. I feel like I bought her a therapy cat.

I also tried to focus on various changes I'm making to my house in order not to focus on the 'will it work' anxieties.

Can't think of anything else right now except napping when felt I needed it and remembering to take my pregnacare tablet every day.

Amyhope123 · 30/12/2021 13:20

@ToCaden thank you! I will definitely try the beetroot juice although I do not like beetroot. And yes keeping yourself busy and distracted definitely helps but it’s so hard to keep your mind constantly busy. Can I ask which clinic you went with?

ToCaden · 30/12/2021 13:37

@Amyhope123 I was with bcrm Bristol centre for reproductive medicine. The staff there were really nice. You could tell they cared about the outcome. Even asked me to send baby pics if I reach full term when they discharged me to GP. They said they love receiving them. Though admittedly I didn't shop around that much before going to them.

I loathe the taste of beetroot. I found when chugging the juice you didn't really taste it, but the moment you stopped the aftertaste hit you like a brick. So I developed the habit of chugging some every now and again and quickly following it with apple or tropical juice to cut off the aftertaste before it started. Funnily enough though after a few days the aftertaste stopped bothering me so I didn't need to do that anymore.

I agree keeping your mind busy is difficult. I also listened to a lot of Audiobooks just so I'd have something constantly there to concentrate on when I felt myself start to worry. Books I'd read before and liked that weren't too angsty worked the best.

Cleozeta · 30/12/2021 14:08

@mrsLA88 I found out it was twins as I had a bleed at 6 weeks, thought it was all over so went to EPU, but they said it was caused by a subchorionic haematoma and the babies (!!) were fine!

Shroedy · 30/12/2021 15:27

@Amyhope123 for my recent transfer I had oestrogen tablets (6mg/day) and progesterone pessaries (800mg/day), no additional progesterone. My previous clinic had additional injections and tablets but transfer failed. More isn't necessarily better and they will monitor how your lining is progressing and increase if need be. Trust the process!

MrsLA88 · 30/12/2021 16:06

@Amyhope123 I did good old pineapple! 1 cut up into 5 slices and had 1 a day including the core starting day before transfer.

@ToCaden we're with BCRM as well! Have you been to their new clinic yet? My 7 week scan is tomorrow 🤞🏼

@Cleozeta I'm glad you and the babies are doing well now that must have been scary x

Sunbird24 · 30/12/2021 16:14

McDonald’s fries post-transfer…
No scientific basis I’m sure! 😂

ToCaden · 30/12/2021 16:20

@mrsla88 Yes. I was talking to the nurse and receptionist about how different it is to the old one. It's all big and shiny and kind of industrial looking. I was there one of the first days the staff started so it looked really empty, but the bonus is they weren't seeing as many patients as usual so I was seen pretty quick.

Best of luck for your scan tomorrow. Please let us know how it goes.

My favourite moment was when the nurse zoomed in on the little smudge that is the bubba and I got to see the fluttering heartbeat. It was so clear. I wasn't expecting to see it so clearly so early.
