Seeing all these scans makes me very excited for mine! Which is next week. I am usually just nervous about it due to my scan in August when I lost my pregnancy.
I had my midwife appointment and my CO monitor test was 6! Average is 1-4. Has anyone else got 6? Midwife said it could be as simple as bad traffic fumes on my way in to see her that day, but I am now wondering if I should test the air in my home.
Also, has anyone else broken out in spots on the sides of their torso? I've never had this many spots on my body before.

Vimto1991 · 24/11/2021 17:01

@RoseValleyRambles the private clinic by me does a blood test but it’s over £100, not sure it’s worth it if you can wait another two months for the 20 week scan! :)

Pandamama88 · 24/11/2021 17:05

What's an NIPT? How do you find out the sex so early? X

Clomid1 · 24/11/2021 17:13

It’s a more accurate way of finding out the risk of having a baby with downs, edwards or patau than the combined screening. It also gives you the gender of the baby. Where I am it costs about £400.

stayignorant · 24/11/2021 17:22

Ahhh this might seem strange to post here but I was due in June this year so seeing 'June 2022' is so strange.. time honestly goes so fast and now I'm here with my 5 month old baby napping on me as I write this! Congratulations to you all ❤️

Brightsmoke · 24/11/2021 17:32

@PeeAche

I'm thinking of buying a sling too. My SIL (professional "mumflencer" don't you know?) doesn't agree with them because they move baby's head too much. Not sure what people think about that?

I think it's a steaming pile of bulls.... ! 🤐

Welcome @EarlGreywithLemon!! 🤗

100% for the sling. That's on my luxury necessities. The Connecta is what I had last time, fully recommend it! The baby Bjorne never used to be recommended for new borns, might've changed but worth checking in case anyone was thinking about getting one.
PurpleMoon12 · 24/11/2021 17:33

So now i get my evening sickness from resting/lying on my back. Thats a new one for me! Its making sitting on the sofa a nightmare - i have to lean forward!
Anyone else had this/can explain this?

Clomid1 · 24/11/2021 17:43

@stayignorant congratulations on your beautiful baby. You should stay on this thread with us 😁 you might be able to help when we have our mini panicks 😁

RoseValleyRambles · 24/11/2021 18:12

@rolledthedice That makes sense. I'm 9 weeks 2 at the moment, so charting for very late June. Scan on the 15th. Sounds like I'll just have to be patient! :)

GabsK92 · 24/11/2021 18:24

Hi everyone

First addition to Mumsnet and first pregnancy here. Due 28th :)

I don't know if anyone has shared this experience but so far I am feeling a bit alone in the whole process. My SO is amazing and will be the best parent ever, but I don't have any friends that are/have been pregnant. I am 29 years old, living in London and working in the city and it seems most of my friends are still enjoying life as single people or simply aren't even close to considering starting a family. I feel like I can't speak to anyone apart from my SO about nausea (which is, like, ALL the time), stress, worry etc. without feeling like I'm burdening someone that can't really relate.

Does anyone know of any mummy groups or similar I could join? I would just love to speak with someone that isn't my partner or midwife about this madness I'm going through in my body. I'm registered with Kingston maternity and eagerly awaiting my first scan in a couple weeks time!

Love
Gabbie

Hello lovelies!

Sorry been quiet for a few days! Just going to catch up ❤️ Hope we are all doing ok!

Just having Camembert and it’s so yummy haha! Xx

DaimDillyDoo · 24/11/2021 20:23

Anxiously waiting my NIPT results Sad

Down's syndrome runs in DP's family. We didn't have to pay for our NIPT - I wonder if this is why?

Hope everyone is well Smile

I'm so tempted to book a gender reveal scan in for Xmas eve so I can find out on Xmas day. I think that would be special. I didn't find out the sex of my first baby. Is anyone else finding out? Xx

I was the same, didn't find our first baby but finding out for this one. I think I need to ease myself into realising I'm having 2 boys rather than the shock on the day 😂
caz198917 · 24/11/2021 22:24

Haha!! Same here! My little boy is 4 xx

Wow, match again! So is mine!
destiEos · 24/11/2021 22:46

@GabsK92 welcome and congrats! I'm also in London, also nauseous and also don't have mates who are having babies - they've all already had them in my case though, as I'm in my 40s 😬

The midwife did say something about signing up for antenatal classes after first scan and I was going to make an effort to find some local groups but I've been housebound with nausea, dizziness and fatigue for a couple of weeks now, so an waiting til I'm well enough to actually participate!

This group is lovely to hang out with though and it's good to know there are so many women going through all the same things, although I'm hoping to join the ones who've moved in from morning sickness really, really soon 😂

Rolledthedice · 25/11/2021 00:08

@RoseValleyRambles ooh only a few weeks until your scan, hang in there! :) I will confess I was so eager that I also did a Sneakpeek test which came back as girl. It gave me something to get excited about in the early weeks as tbh I wasn’t even sure what we would do. I’ve read that boy results can sometimes be false positives but if you get a girl it’s usually pretty accurate as they detect male hormones. It’s a cheaper (albeit less reliable) alternative if you are super keen.

Rolledthedice · 25/11/2021 00:21

@GabsK92 welcome! :) I grew up near Kingston, lovely place with plenty of families so I’m sure there must be mummy groups you could join. Have you tried finding a local Facebook group?

It’s also a tricky time because I’m guessing most of us are going to wait until after 12 weeks before letting others know? I’m weirdly resistant to telling anyone as I don’t want people to view me any differently and kinda want to just go with the flow with no pressure! I’ve spent the past 36 years not once contemplating having a family and now suddenly it’s happening, so I think my friends will do a double take lol

Willow1981 · 25/11/2021 01:01

Terrified. 11+5 and started bleeding this evening. Called triage and expecting a call from the EPU tomorrow to go in. The experience of others in this group is keeping me sane but should try to get some sleep but can't. DH is being fantastic. Keeping your fingers crossed ladies.

InvisibleDragon · 25/11/2021 06:45

Oh no @Willow1981 that sounds awful. Keeping my fingers crossed you get good news from the EPU today! xx

unknownscot · 25/11/2021 07:46

@caz198917
I'm keeping it a surprise - there's not many surprises in life and I'm quite traditional that way. Not really in to gender reveals and baby showers.
However, I do under why people find out.
X

unknownscot · 25/11/2021 07:47

@Willow1981
You're in my thoughts. Hope all is okay x

Olive60 · 25/11/2021 07:48

@Willow1981 I hope everything is OK x

Pandamama88 · 25/11/2021 07:49

@Willow1981 Hang in there. Have you had a miscarriage previously? I read a BBC article yesterday that the NHS have started giving progesterone pessaries to women with a bleed who have had previous miscarriages. This reduced the chance of having another miscarriage. I'm hoping you will be absolutely fine but worth noting as it might help.
