Oh @Willow1981 so sorry you're going through this, how heavy is the bleeding? I was also bleeding at 11+5 and passed a large clot, had a scan and baby was fine. Praying the same for you x

EarlGreywithLemon · 25/11/2021 08:04

@Rolledthedice I think the accuracy on the sex is around 99.9%, so pretty good odds! Smile It got it right for us the first time and we do have a 2 year old girl.
@Pandamama88 the NIPT analyses the fetal DNA in your blood so is more accurate than the NHS test, which is more of a predictor. I was worried my age would tip us into high risk in the NHS test so we did this one first.
@Willow1981 keeping everything crossed for you. I’ve been there (at 14 weeks) and everything was thankfully fine, but I know the horrible horrible fear so well.
@GabsK92 welcome! They don’t start until quite a bit later but, budget permitting, would you consider doing something like an NCT course? We were very lucky with ours and we are all still in touch 2 years later. That group made such a difference for me in the early weeks and months when our daughter was a newborn!

RoseValleyRambles · 25/11/2021 08:04

Oh @willow1981 that's so scary, but hang in there. As you say, many of us have had significant bleeds and are still here. Push for a scan if you can as it may simply be a hematoma. Sending prayers.

EarlGreywithLemon · 25/11/2021 08:08

@Rolledthedice sorry my confusion with the NIPT odds for the sex. It still sounds like it will be accurate though Smile

HWka · 25/11/2021 08:23

@Willow1981 thinking of you today, I’ve had a couple of bleeds and everything been ok so far so fingers crossed for you. Sure you’ll get scanned today for peace of mind xxx

Clomid1 · 25/11/2021 08:33

@Willow1981 after an orgasm the night before I had some spotting yesterday. It just makes you completely panicked and sick doesn’t it. I have decided to wait until my 12 week scan which is on thursday next week. I hope your scan today goes well. Good luck

Willow1981 · 25/11/2021 09:12

Thanks everyone.
Trying to stay calm. Not a lot of sleep last night. This is my first pregnancy.
Passed a couple of clots. Been too scared to go to the loo yet this morning but seemed to slow overnight.
Waiting for the call from the unit.

PeeAche · 25/11/2021 09:15

Oh @Willow1981 what a load of crap. Bleeding at 11+5 must feel like tripping over a few feet from a finish line. I'm keeping everything crossed for your good news. I'm sure there'll be good news. This thread has been so overwhelmed by "bleeding and then" success stories. I'll be thinking of you all day ❤️

Huge welcome to @GabsK92 the loneliness of early pregnancy is very very real. It's not long now and you can start telling other people. All of the classes in my area have moved online so I'm not relying on them to make any friends. Do you have Facebook? There might be a local group on there? Also, we are a friendly bunch!

This group has been my saviour, when I haven't had anyone else to talk to. My DH is great too but he's fed up of my daily discharge consistency updates.
Or, my latest thing: "do my nipples look any different to you?" (I've actually convinced myself that my Montgomery tubercules haven't appeared. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This is what I spend my time doing now.)

I will be finding out the sex of my baby but I won't be paying for it early. If I'm offered a NIPT after routine screening, then it's a silver lining but otherwise, I'll just wait for my later scan. No baby showers or gender reveal for me either.

@Willow1981 thinking of you and I'll be checking this thread for the good news that you are going to come back with!! Thanks

DaimDillyDoo · 25/11/2021 09:17

I didn't realise I had to specifically ask for the gender at the NIPT test. I assumed it was automatic. Ahh gutted Sad

Imhereforthecake · 25/11/2021 09:34

Does anyone else work for the NHS?
I'm trying to work out what weeks my maternity pay will be based on - try and get in some unsociable hours Grin

beansprout55 · 25/11/2021 09:44

@Willow1981 honey, praying baby is Ok. I bled for a whopping 3 weeks! Some days more than others. I only stopped a week ago. So it doesn't mean the worst. 1/3 women will bleed in the first trimester at some point. Hang in there xxxx

laurenGame · 25/11/2021 09:48

@DaimDillyDoo you can still ask for the NIPT scan. I'm not doing gender reveal either, we will have an envelope provided by my obstetrician and we will open it with family on Xmas day, with someone filming a reaction so they can show the baby when they're older.

@Willow1981 thinking of you. I have Hematoma and baby is fine. Had a bleed few weeks ago. Let us know how you go x

@GabsK92 I would highly recommend Peanut app - it's like tinder forums to be. I've connected to a few similar women living near me, and I live in a small town! It's a lovely thought that when I give birth I already know a few women in a similar situation with whom I can physically catch up for coffee, or a stroll with the babies.

laurenGame · 25/11/2021 09:49

How you going @beansprout55 ? Long time no see!
Had my scan today all is well, still see a small Hematoma but my spotting has gone. Hope you're well x

Me!!

I think it's between 16-20 weeks. I've got my rota and trying to swap into some Sunday 12 hour shifts 😂

Do you know work with Covid patients? Do you change anything after 28 weeks?

X

AmICrazy36 · 25/11/2021 10:09

@Imhereforthecake I work for the nhs also! Been trying to have a nosey!

@Willow1981 sending hugs and a handhold! Thinking of you today xx

Rolledthedice · 25/11/2021 10:16

@Willow1981 you poor thing, I’m thinking of you today! Everything crossed that you get good news. Like others have said, the stories here are very reassuring so stay positive. xx

@DaimDillyDoo The private companies will tell you the sex but I don’t believe the NHS test will (worth checking though).

Prema112 · 25/11/2021 10:36

@laurenGame & @beansprout55 so pleased to hear your bleeding has stopped!

I've already talked about cramps on here but I'd like to ask again, anyone getting regular low back cramps? I'm getting them daily now and I'm glued to my hot water bottle. They come and go and they're not severe but they are really bothering me

Willow1981 · 25/11/2021 10:37

I'm having some purr therapy while I wait for the call.
Bleeding is a lot less this morning and not filled a pad overnight so feeling optimistic.

DaimDillyDoo · 25/11/2021 10:54

@Rolledthedice I checked on our Trusts information page, they do tell you the gender but if you specifically write 'gender' on the testing form. Which we didn't Sad

Never mind, not the end of the world I guess!

Rolledthedice · 25/11/2021 11:03

@DaimDillyDoo Aw that’s frustrating for you! :(

Rolledthedice · 25/11/2021 11:05

@Willow1981 Aww your cat is gorgeous! 😍 My old cat was a ginger Tom, I’m a sucker for ginger cats. Glad to hear the bleeding has gone down overnight 🤞🏻

PeeAche · 25/11/2021 11:06

What a gorgeous cat! 🐈

@EarlGreywithLemon oh wow, congratulations! Grin

@Brightsmoke Beautiful scan picture ❤️ Adorable! Mine is due on 3rd June as well! Grin

@PeeAche it’s completely your decision and ignore your weird SIL lol. She’s not an expert! Hate it when people pretend to be experts on parenting and personal choice. Personally I don’t like slings but that’s because I’m scared that if I trip I could fall onto the baby and literally flatten them. My friend fell recently whilst taking her daughter to nursery, she broke her elbow but thankfully managed to avoid falling on her DD, but the thought of it has always been worrying for me! That being said I can see the appeal of them; my son was a lap sleeper for ages and I couldn’t get anything done, whereas if he was in a sling I could have got some things done lol.
