Hello all!

Just wondering if anyone is a similar stage to me and how you're feeling. A tiny part of me feels a bit emotional that this will be my last pregnancy and it's nearly over, but a very, very large part of me is thoroughly fed up!

Anyone else? :)

@8dpwoah ah yeah that must feel disappointing? I keep trying to plan for a 41 week pregnancy at least as to not get my hopes up, but I can't help but notice every little twinge. A friend of mine said she felt for her cervix in the bath and could feel that it was soft and dilated - I tried the same and mine is wayyy up there, totally out of reach.

Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles · 14/10/2021 22:31

@Bananapancakes6 saaaame, can't even find it 😂

Hey ladies hope I'm not too late to join,37 weeks tomorrow baby number 2 I have a little girl 15months and due another little girl. First ended in emc so aiming for a vbac but keep scaring myself stupid reading threads on here about tears 😭
My first pregnancy was fairly smooth this time I have carpal tunnel syndrome, PGP and horrific piles yay having a sweep at 38+5 so hope it starts something off. The midwife and a lot of other people I've spoken too have said second labours are v likely to be much quicker even though first ended in section becayse I was dilating and contracting for so long my body should recognise it's go time , fingers crossed. Really anxious about leaving my toddler so want to stay home as long as poss nice smooth birth and home ASAP hahaha i can dream!

marykitty · 15/10/2021 07:22

Prodormial labor all night, it lasted so long I actually thought that was it! I slept 3 hours totale and now I am starting work Brew I need a strong coffee

Knock123 · 15/10/2021 21:47

It was my last day of work today but had a growth scan at the end of the day. Didn't think there was much to worry about but babys tummy hasn't grown much in 3 weeks and coupled with reduced movement the other day they decided to induce me (37+2)
I was allowed to go home and have a shower and grab my things but I'm now in hospital with a balloon up my bits trying to get things moving! Not even one day to put my feet up!

mrssunshinexxx · 15/10/2021 22:18

Ah gosh @Knock123 that's a shock ! Wishing you a safe and speedy labour good luck x

Bananapancakes6 · 15/10/2021 22:36

Goodness @Knock123 that's must have been a bit of a shock. Please keep us updated when you can. How exciting that you'll be meeting your baby very shortly!

8dpwoah · 15/10/2021 22:59

Bloody hell @Knock123 I found it hard enough being induced unexpectedly with 48 hours notice never mind without even having time to have my first mat leave evening! Hope all goes quickly and smoothly for you 🙂

Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles · 15/10/2021 23:04

Oh wow @knock123 good luck! Do update us when you can. Hope all goes smoothly xx

@marykitty how are you getting on?

OP posts:
Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles · 15/10/2021 23:07

@mrssunshinexxx it was certainly my experience that the second was a lot quicker and easier than the first Smile hope things go the same way for you!

mrssunshinexxx · 16/10/2021 01:21

Eek @Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles did you have emc first time ?

Bananapancakes6 · 16/10/2021 08:09

@mrssunshinexxx what you'd like ideally sounds doable. As long as your midwife / consultant haven't said you need to rush into hospital, you can surely be at home as long as possible. Do you need extra monitoring at all? And please don't worry too much about tears. I had an episiotomy but also had 2nd degree tear and labial tear and it all healed so quickly and nicely, it was tender for a while but honestly nothing dreadful!

I'm now 37+1 and last night I was getting contractions all on one side and it was extremely painful! It lasted about 2 hours and thankfully went away when I went to bed. Wondering what it was all about tho!

Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles · 16/10/2021 10:07

@mrssunshinexxx sorry no just a longer/ more difficult labour then the second just flew out 😂 and heard that from a lot of people!

Ooh @Bananapancakes6 sounds promising, hopefully your body preparing!

@Knock123 hope you're ok!

Thank you all for your lovely wishes! I have been quite upset that I can't have the water and natural birth I had planned for but here we are. I had the balloon last night which got me to 3cm but cervix is still too short so will have the pessary put in today. The Dr has said it may take a while as I'm so early my body just isnt ready. So annoyed I didn't even get one day off work!!!

@Bananapancakes6 that sounds very promising, fingers crossed things get moving for you soon!

Hey no they haven't said I need to rush in unless I was concerned I can stay at home as long as poss other than it being a vbac I am low risk. I'm having abit of a wobble today wondering whether to book an elective I guess it's just the unknown of a vaginal and I have this I know it's irrational but fear of dying in labour, I lost my mum who was my best friend in the world suddenly and unexpectedly last year 6 weeks before I had my first baby and to say it's been hard would be an understatement I think it's magnified again as I'm due so soon that I don't have her and she was the one person in the world who made me feel so safe so yeah having a wobble and an extra emotional day hopefully tomorrow is better.
They have said they would like me to be continuously monitored which I wouldn't decline as want to look after us both but they have 2 wireless monitors so I'm really hoping one will be available as can still Potter Around and go in the pool.

How far are you ? Did you think it was go time last night?

Bananapancakes6 · 16/10/2021 16:45

@mrssunshinexxx ah ofc it's normal to be anxious, sorry about your mum - is she doing ok now?

I honestly didn't think it was time. It was all down one side only, maybe if it was all over I might have thought more of it! Feeling generally off and very achey today tho.

mrssunshinexxx · 17/10/2021 01:39

@Bananapancakes6 no she died which has devastated me. What gestation are you? I feel nervy not knowing how or when the first signs will be and my husband was working 8 hours away last week, not sure what next week holds for him yet 😳

8dpwoah · 17/10/2021 22:22

Oh gosh @mrssunshinexxx that sounds tough 😬

Thought I had trickly waters yesterday but nothing interesting since then other than feeling quite periody/crampy for a lot of today. Really not getting excited though as it's not even at the level I'd take a painkiller for in normal circumstances so I'm sure it's just things thinking about getting organised. I've got an unavoidable and non-rearrangeable delivery coming on Weds so maybe that will jinx things into kicking off so we're not at home 😂 my mum is on toddler duty and will be baffled if so but I'm sure she'll cope (she very rarely does online shopping precisely because she doesn't get how deliveries work, somehow, bless her).

Bananapancakes6 · 17/10/2021 22:34

I'm so sorry @mrssunshinexxx sounds incredibly hard. I'm 37+2 today.

@8dpwoah feeling similar, period type crampy uncomfortableness but nothing more than that really.

Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles · 17/10/2021 22:36

@mrssunshinexxx so sorry about your mum, my dad died recently too and its really hard thinking he'll not meet the new baby 😔 big hugs.

I've been into PAU today thinking things were kicking off after regular, painful contractions and diarrhoea but not long after I arrived they stopped Blush the midwife wasn't very impressed!

@Knock123 how are you have you had your baby x

mrssunshinexxx · 18/10/2021 07:06

@Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles so sorry for your loss losing a parent you were so close to has to be up there one of the worst things to go through so young. I just never in a million years thought I would lose her for another 20/30 years it's brutal
