Hello all!

Just wondering if anyone is a similar stage to me and how you're feeling. A tiny part of me feels a bit emotional that this will be my last pregnancy and it's nearly over, but a very, very large part of me is thoroughly fed up!

Anyone else? :)

@4kinhell I'm sorry you're going through this, sounds horrible! I would really push to be seen, especially with the headaches you are experiencing - you shouldn't just have to be putting up with that. I hope the consultant appointment will be useful for you tomorrow, let us know how you get on?

marykitty · 13/10/2021 10:19

@4kinhell

Hi Everyone, hope you don't mind me joining. I'm 38+4 I've been given 2 due dates, one was yesterday (private clinic) and one is the 22nd October (have to stick with this one as it's the NHS one) I've been in slow labour for 2 weeks now, 3cm dilated and contracting but not progressing and the hospital just seem to keep sending me away with paracetamol, even though I'm having severe period and back pains, headaches that are so bad I can't speak or move my limbs and have blurred vision. I'm back at the hospital tomorrow for an MRI scan and to see a consultant so hopefully they will give me a sweep or plan an induction or just anything to get this baby moving.

This is my 4th baby by the way and my last baby is coming up to 11months old so it's been a very quick, unexpected pregnancy.

Oh poor thing, i hope you will feel better soon Flowers
8dpwoah · 13/10/2021 10:21

@4kinhell Headaches and blurred vision is one of the things my midwife always says to call triage for so it's not good they're fobbing you off. Maybe call 111, wouldn't normally advocate circumventing maternity systems but I'm sure the 111 triage flow chart thing will put that as big red flags and maybe less to a way round it?

8dpwoah · 13/10/2021 10:24

I've started getting The Texts. You know the ones, 'any news?' 'anything happening'. I shouldn't moan as it's lovely that people care but I think people don't realise getting the same thing from 5 different people a day is a bit wearing 😂

We didn't tell anyone I'd gone in for my induction last time and it was bloody marvellous to be able to reply, honestly, 'no nothing yet' and leave it at that!

4kinhell · 13/10/2021 10:40

Thanks Ladies, I've tried my GP, My Midwife, PAU Midwifes and numerous consultants and they all say different.
One will decide to induce and then they go off shift and the next one doesn't agree etc etc
Hopefully tomorrow I can push cause it's getting ridiculous now.
I've had 3 episodes of reduced movements and midwife said their policy is that after 2 you should be scanned and they haven't even offered me that. I'm going to have to be firm xx

Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles · 13/10/2021 10:49

Oh @4kinhell that sounds horrendous, you poor thing! Hope they get you sorted.

@8dpwoah oh no how annoying! No ones asking me, probably because I'm grumpy enough already!

Just back from the midwife who said im 2/5 engaged, can anyone remember what that means? I feel like I've forgotten everything from previous pregnancies! Does that mean its still a way off?

4kinhell · 13/10/2021 11:21

@Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles
2/5 is good 👍🏼 it means she can only feel 2/5s of baby's head above your pelvis so baby is tucked quite far down x

8dpwoah · 13/10/2021 11:34

Oh I went down a rabbit hole oftrying to work out engaged Vs palpable the other week, my (crappy digital so midwife can't edit headings in tables) notes say 4/5 engaged (which sounds really good) but I never got to the bottom of whether that actually meant 4/5 palpable (which isn't very exciting) as it seems both terms are still in use by different midwives 🤷‍♀️ I'm seeing mine this week so when she does her thing I'll ask her what she means 😂

Bananapancakes6 · 13/10/2021 11:53

@8dpwoah My 34 week appointment I was 4/5 palpable, which isn't much at all. I'll be interested to see what I am today.

Labyrinth86 · 13/10/2021 12:03

@8dpwoah and @bananapancakes6 Thank you for the replies re: sleeping. I managed to sleep on my left side last night for most of the night (woke up at 3.15 and 5.15 then stayed up, whereas Monday night I was up and down all night and achieved no sleep) after a day of taking Rennies Deflatine and taking some paracetamol every 4 hours - 2 before bed. I feel so much better although the pain is back - mainly PGP front and centre under my bump and in my mid-back behind my ribs.

@bananapancakes6 I'm sure my little still moves between head down and transverse. She definitely kicks her feet out my sides, which is super painful. However, at other times, I get lightning crotch (youch) so par5 of her is able to punch/kick/headbutt my cervix. I'm 37+4.

@4kinhell My friend went to Labour Ward with a severe headache and she was in labour a few weeks early. I would insist they do more. I'm sorry that they are not taking you seriously.

nanabow · 13/10/2021 12:23

38 weeks. Currently dealing with day 5 of my toddler having a sickness bug, while also trying to work, and knelt being able to sleep😩

I've got an appointment on tomorrow where we're meant to be discussing booking an induction for next week. But there is no way I can go through an induction this exhausted, plus there is still a chance I'll catch this bug.

Not sure how engaged the baby is as the midwife hasn't bothered to fill out my notes for since 32 weeks. At 32 weeks she wasn't engaged at all, at 37weeks the consultant said she was head down (and a very good size).

marykitty · 13/10/2021 14:23

What a crazy day. WFH with a sick toddler. Being called 7000 times by workmates to solve stuff. I go in Mat leave in 10 days, can they just learn to deal with their own stuff instead of keep relying on me???

Sorry, hormones make me stress out easily Grin

Bananapancakes6 · 13/10/2021 19:55

I had my 36 week midwife appointment today (altho I'm 37 weeks on Fri) and I'm measuring 38 weeks! Yikes. Good news is baby is very low, she thinks 3/5 engaged!

@nanabow Sounds horrible! When do you stop work? I hope your toddler is better soon, its so draining when they are ill.

4kinhell · 14/10/2021 15:28

Just to update you all, I've been to hospital this morning and they refused to do the MRI scan because I've been having regular contractions.
Baby is back to back which explains why I've been stopping and starting in labour 🤦🏼‍♀️
Currently 4cm and waters being broken in the next hour so should have a baby tonight/early tomorrow

Bananapancakes6 · 14/10/2021 16:12

@4kinhell is it the back to back causing.the headaches too? Good luck to you! Hopefully have your baby in no time! 🤞

4kinhell · 14/10/2021 16:57

They don't know about the headaches but need to deliver baby first. I suppose it could well be because of pressure on different nerves.

Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles · 14/10/2021 17:24

@4kinhell ahhh good luck! Hope it all goes smoothly. Will be thinking of you tonight xx

Knock123 · 14/10/2021 18:32

I went in to hosp for reduced movements last night, I'm getting constant braxton hicks and I think it's making it hard to feel the baby? Thankfully all was fine and of course as soon as they hooked me up the baby had a party in there but they want me to have a growth scan tomorrow. Is anyone else finding the movements much more subtle now the baby is squished in there?

nanabow · 14/10/2021 19:13

@Bananapancakes6

Thank you.

The GP ended up sending us to the children's hospital yesterday as she was dehydrated. Luckily only a short stay and we were home this morning. DD didn't sleep well on the ward, so she's been an overtired mess today.

I'm meant to finish next Wednesday, 1 week before my due date. But I'm going to have to make up the hours I missed, so will probably end up working to at least Friday.

nanabow · 14/10/2021 19:14

@4kinhell

Good luck

🤞 baby arrives soon x

Bananapancakes6 · 14/10/2021 19:16

@nanabow Glad to hear all ok, sounds tough tho. Can you not just finish early? Hope you can get some rest before baby time.

@Knock123 I was wondering this. Every time I think baby has been quiet he will start wiggling all over the place. His movements are smoother and less jerky now I think, I suppose due to lack of space. Is the growth scan for small or big baby?

Knock123 · 14/10/2021 19:39

@Bananapancakes6 yeah actually smoother is a good description for it! It's like I have to concentrate more on feeling the movements to notice them.
They're doing the growth scan because I've had two incidents of reduced movements and apparently that's just what they do. I had a growth scan three weeks ago as they thought baby was too small but it measured 44th percentile, so perfectly average thankfully!

Bananapancakes6 · 14/10/2021 19:55

@Knock123 Good luck with the scan, let us know how it goes!

lockdownbabyx · 14/10/2021 20:20

Hi all! Hope we're all ok? Had my 38 week app yesterday although I'm actually 37+4 today. I've noticed in my notes my midwife has put cephalic 3/4. I though this was done in 5ths?! I'm so confused. Also found out he's back to back which is annoying, going to spend the next couple of weeks doing lots of exercises to try get him to turn 😬🤞🏼

8dpwoah · 14/10/2021 22:01

Well had my sweep today and although cervix coming along (much better than it was at same gestation with DD) it was closed so she couldn't actually sweep me. Induction booked for this time next week 😬 I can't believe I've gone from planning an induction at 37 weeks to waiting for one at 41 weeks 😂
