Hello all!

Just wondering if anyone is a similar stage to me and how you're feeling. A tiny part of me feels a bit emotional that this will be my last pregnancy and it's nearly over, but a very, very large part of me is thoroughly fed up!

Anyone else? :)

He's here!!!

Waters broke at 3.30am, got to hospital with very mild, manageable contractions around 5 and was told I was 4-5cm. I was dead impressed with myself just humming and breathing, what a super woman I thought Grin

Then 3 hours later the pain was becoming far worse, she checked again and I was 5cm. I absolutely lost my shit and begged for an epidural Blush she confirmed me to still be around 5cm as he put it in because I was screaming so much she thought it might have progressed Grin so he put it in, said it'd take 30 minutes to work and before the door hit his arse on the way out I suddenly progressed to 10cm and pushed the baby out! So a long build up but then 5-baby in about 20 minutes. Apart from the last stretch where I swore my pelvis was breaking, it wasn't too bad! Feel like a bus has driven into my vagina now though, and the after pains are no joke!

Good luck to anyone still waiting Flowers

@Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles congratulations!! How far along were you? X

8dpwoah · 06/11/2021 21:16

Ah @marykitty and @oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles congrats both! Glad all ok and hope you're both feeling a bit more human again now.

So, who's next?

Bananapancakes6 · 06/11/2021 21:20

@Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles Oh amazing! Congratulations! So did the epidural start working after he was born? How is baby? what weight?!

Its my due date today. No signs at all!

Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles · 07/11/2021 00:24

@SweetSunflowerBoo 40+4!

@Bananapancakes6 no they just disconnected it straight away, he was 8lb 7 and doing great so far! My other kids have been so sweet (so far!) less than a day in and my 5 year old is already convinced having a brother is better than his sister Grin

Just an update from me, now 40+4 and being induced tomorrow hopefully (as long as they have space for me!) via balloon induction. Feeling very excited!

Can't remember now, was it you @8dpwoah that had balloon?

mrssunshinexxx · 10/11/2021 13:48

40+5 4th sweep this morn cervix still closed at the top started losing bit of mucus plug yesterday but nothing happening

Knock123 · 10/11/2021 15:35

@Bananapancakes6 Ahh so exciting! I had a balloon induction. The insertion wasn't pleasant but it was quite quick. If they offer you gas and air, take it. It took a few hours for the contractions to get going for me so I would suggest trying to sleep before they kick in (if you can). It got me to 3cm which they said was really good for a FTM being induced at 37 weeks. Unfortunately it didn't soften my cervix enough to break my waters so I had a pessary the next day and then the drip the day after that. Hope it all goes quickly for you!

Bananapancakes6 · 10/11/2021 20:37

@Knock123 Aha thank you for sharing that, really helpful!

Apparently my cervix is only 0.5cm thick but its not dilated at all (which is weird for second baby) so my consultant thinks this is best option as she said she couch stretch it to 3cm easily and that my waters were bulging and could easily be popped. I'm scared its going to be quick and painful like last time once that happens!

@mrssunshinexxx Hang in there!

Knock123 · 10/11/2021 20:52

@Bananapancakes6 oh well my cervix was 4cm thick! So it'll probably work really well for you. Fingers crossed otherwise it becomes such a long process

Bananapancakes6 · 10/11/2021 20:59

@Knock123 Fingers crossed! weird that just 0.5cm is stopping baby from falling out, haha. Did your partner come in with you from the start, or did they come in after things got going?

Knock123 · 10/11/2021 21:04

@Bananapancakes6 yeah he came in from the start but I sent him home each night to try to get some rest. It all started Friday night and didn't give birth until Monday morning so he just came and hung out with me during the day (and brought me food) and then Sunday night when my waters were broken and things started to happen he stayed with me. Hopefully it'll be a much quicker process for you though. I was in hospital for a few days after baby was born as well, I felt part of the furniture by the end of my stay

Bananapancakes6 · 10/11/2021 22:46

@Knock123 ah thanks for that! I think I'll get my DH to come in with me and see how we go. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight 🤣

mrssunshinexxx · 11/11/2021 04:26

Lost mucus plug in one big go at midnight ish and been having contractions since every 10 min or less not a great start as already shattered not been to bed but hopefully will be ok x

Bananapancakes6 · 11/11/2021 12:23

@mrssunshinexxx ooh any update?

My induction won't be today :'( no beds available.

jennixxx · 11/11/2021 12:46

Anyone else 9+3 Smile

mrssunshinexxx · 12/11/2021 00:07

Baby born today cat 2 emergency section didn't get my vbac got to 10 cm and pushing but baby distressed and good job we went to theatre as my scar was v thin and she has d cord round her neck twice. Not slept in 36 hours and lost 1000 ml bloody defo regretting not having an elective but hey hindsight a wonderful thing glad she's all ok she is perfect

Knock123 · 12/11/2021 04:59

@mrssunshinexxx congratulations!! That sounds like it must have been an absolutely terrifying experience, hope you're feeling OK mentally. Baby girl is here and you're both safe and that's all that matters. Hope you manage bits of rest

mrssunshinexxx · 12/11/2021 05:04

Thank you @Knock123 I know all that matters is that she and I are both safe but it's abit of a head fuck when I got so
Close and bloody gave it my all and now I'm doubly exhausted just like my last birth but nevermind she's here and feeding like
A trooper she looks
Like her little 16m old sisters twin!

Knock123 · 12/11/2021 05:18

@mrssunshinexxx I didn't get the birth I wanted and it's OK to be upset about it. You gave it your all and sounds like you did bloody amazing!! Bet you can't wait for your girls to meet

mrssunshinexxx · 12/11/2021 06:32

Hard to accept isn't it @Knock123 when I think back to my emc last year I could of continued / 'tried harder' but honestly yesterday I could not of done more At all so maybe I should take some comfort from that and maybe in time I will. Did you end up with an EMC ? The recovery going to be shite ! I can't wait to get home and see what she thinks of her but I know she's just going to want to climb all over me bless her already wondering how on earth im going to BF her x

Bananapancakes6 · 12/11/2021 08:31

Congratulations @mrssunshinexxx I knew you would have had her. Sounds like a bit of an ordeal. Enjoy your new baby and I hope recovery isn't too bad.

Anyone else still waiting or is it just me? Blush 41 weeks tomorrow, waiting on induction still Sad

Knock123 · 12/11/2021 11:55

@mrssunshinexxx no I didn't, I wanted an all natural water birth but ended up being high risk, induced with an epidural and everything was the opposite to what I wanted. The advantage of that was I was able to start the 'grieving' process before I was in labour so once baby had arrived I had already made peace with the fact it hadn't gone to plan and had been a bit out of control. My baby is almost 4 weeks now and with hormones settling down I feel a lot better. If you get upset, look at your lovely baby and remind yourself she is here and you are both safe. Once you get some rest(!) and some time, you will feel so much better
