Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

@Kat2022 Glad you managed to get your appointment in for your scan. Definitely very poor on your GP/midwife's part. Hopefully this will be the only hitch for the rest of your pregnancy.

@Scoaf Scan day buddy! I'm always anxious before the first one. Gets better for the 20 week, and by the growth scans (assuming I'm going to get them this time too) it's normal.

Scoaf · 15/09/2021 12:43

@Dyra aww you're the same day? 😊
This is my 3rd pregnancy but the furthest ive got so my 1st 12 week scan so im super anxious.
I had an early reassurance scan at 6weeks due to my previous losses and paid for a private at 9weeks as i was anxious and all has been fine so far 🤞

Nats7504 · 15/09/2021 16:11

Hi ladies 😊 Can I join please?

I’m currently 13+1 with number 3! Due around 22nd March and have my 12 week scan tomorrow. So nervous! I’ve suffered with HG this pregnancy and it’s only just starting to lift! 🙌

Just a quick question.. has anyone else had a consultant appointment booked for after 12 week scan? I’ve had a call today from the hospital saying that they’ve reviewed my notes and asked me to come in on Monday. I have asked for a C section due to a car crash of a 2nd birth but I was expecting this at 25 weeks. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dyra · 15/09/2021 17:04

@Scoaf Apparently! Why is it not the 21st yet?! Really sorry about your losses. Your anxiety is completely understandable. Everything crossed for a healthy, happy baby wriggling away on Tuesday.

@Nats7504 Welcome! Sounds very efficient of the hospital. Maybe it's just to check in with you to talk over your previous birth and discuss what sort of contact you're going to have throughout the rest of your pregnancy. Very curious. Good luck with your scan tomorrow.

Nats7504 · 15/09/2021 17:21

@Dyra Maybe, who knows! I am 37 so they’ve probably pegged me as a oldie 🙄

I’ve not caught up on the thread fully so apologies. Shall we do a recap so we know where everyone is up to?

I can start.. I’m 37 and currently 13+1 with baby number 3. My 2 boys are 11 and 13 and from ex husband. This will be my OH first (and only baby as I’m not doing it again!) We are in the North West. This pregnancy has definitely been tougher than my previous ones, I’m sure that’s probably due to my age 🙈

Bluebell88 · 15/09/2021 17:36

Welcome @Nats7504

I’m 33 and 11+6 with my first, my OH has a little boy who is 4 from a previous relationship and who I have known since he was about 1. My OH can’t wait to tell him he’s going to be a big brother. I am in Hampshire. I also have my 12 week scan tomorrow too 😃

Scoaf · 15/09/2021 17:57

@Dyra
I know... i days are dragging so much...
Thanks so much. Hope everything goes great for you too.
Hi @Nats7504

Im 35 with mine and hubbys first. Im currently 11+5. Ive got my 12 week scan next Tuesday.
Im also in the North West 😊

Nats7504 · 15/09/2021 19:09

@Bluebell88 Aww, scan date buddies. What time is yours? Mines 9.30am. I’m really anxious, can’t wait until it’s over and I can start to relax. How lovely ❤️ Will you be telling him after the scan? We had to tell the boys weeks ago as I was bedridden with HG so couldn’t get away with it 🙈

@Scoaf Yay on being North West buddies 🙌 It’s the wettest county I’ve ever lived in 🤣 Your scan is so close too. Makes it feel or the more real when you get to see the little one on screen 😊

Bluebell88 · 15/09/2021 19:20

@Nats7504 mines 10am, so glad it’s in the morning, I’m super anxious too, I’ve had two private scans but it doesn’t stop me worrying!

We’ll probably wait a bit longer to tell him, just as it’s a long time for an impatient 4 year old to wait for a baby to arrive, it’s long enough for me! He’s only with us some of the time, so he’s not picked up on my struggles and I’ve managed to hide being sick, although I’m pretty sure he’s just assumed I’ve taken to living in bed as I’m often “having a rest”.

We are going to visit my family this weekend, my parents already know but all being well we’ll tell my brother and my Grandma while we’re there. We also plan to tell a few more close family members on both sides over the weekend and I’m looking forward to telling a few people at work and generally not having to keep it such a secret!

Nervyy · 15/09/2021 19:30

Lovely to read everyone's recaps ☺️

My OH and I are also in the North West (Manchester). We have been together nearly 6 years and this will be both of our first times on the parenthood journey! I'm 27 and 11+3 ❤️🤞🏻
All seems to be going well so far, I have had 3 (🙈) reassurance scans as I am a bit of a worrier but also it's been incredible to see their progress and development!
My NHS 12 week scan is a week today (Weds 22nd) and I am very excited to see baby again already! ❤️🤞🏻

Cxjai792 · 15/09/2021 19:58

So nice getting to know everyone on here!

I’m 29 living in Essex and I’m 11weeks 5days with my second. I’ve got a 3year old girl with my husband and he has a 10year old girl from previous relationship. We’re telling both the girls at the weekend. Really nervous about the delivery of this little one as I ended up with a retained placenta and rushed into theatre for a blood transfusion. Terrified it’ll happen againSad

Nats7504 · 15/09/2021 20:26

@Bluebell88 Very true! 🤣 When will the baby be here.. for the next 6 months! It’s exciting when you can officially tell people after hiding away feeling like shit for 3 months 🙈

@Cxjai792 I totally get the birth fear lovely. I had Shoulder dystocia with my youngest son, room full of people as he got stuck and was born not breathing. I’ve opted for a C- Section this time due to the worry/trauma of it happening again. Have you spoken to your midwife? Mine was very understanding and referred me to a consultant to discuss birthing options.

@Nervyy You do what you have to do to get through the first 3 months. It’s hard mentally! Nearly scan time though and fingers crossed that will settle your nerves and you can maybe start to relax 😊 Another North Wester, I’m in Chester so not far!

Derbee · 15/09/2021 20:41

I’m 36 and currently 11w6d, with my first baby. Partner has 2 children from a previous relationship. We have our 12 week scan on Friday 17th. We live in Derby.

Cxjai792 · 15/09/2021 20:46

@Nats7504 god bless you that sounds awful! It’s so traumatic though when everyone rushes in and your just so out of it. I literally held my daughter for a minute and was rushed out of the room. I think a c-section is a good idea because you have some sort of control and idea of what will happen. Last midwife I spoke to said that due to me having pre eclampsia in the end and the birth I had that they will just monitor me and I’d be under a consultant. At the moment I still want to try doing it but I think my nerves may push me to a c-section

Nats7504 · 15/09/2021 21:01

@Cxjai792 It’s a difficult one isn’t it? If you could guarantee a smooth labour and delivery we’d obviously chose that but it’s the risk of it happening again.
It sounds like you’ll be kept an eye on due to the pre eclampsia and retained placenta so hopefully the consultant can reassure you of the chances of it potentially happening again.

Dyra · 15/09/2021 21:03

Nice to meet everyone!

I'm 35, in Oxfordshire, (estimated) 12+1 with my second. DD has just turned 2. I've told her there's a baby in mummy's tummy, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't understand. My only goal for delivery is to not meet my colleagues in theatre. Didn't with DD, so hoping I can get away with it again. Also hoping to labour naturally this time. My induction was ok, but I'd definitely prefer to not have to do it again. I'd also like to get a bit closer to my due date this time, but I wouldn't be gutted to not go beyond it.

@Cxjai792 As it's happened once, the midwives will be more than prepared for it to potentially happen again. I think it'll be expected you'll deliver in hospital, but that's definitely a conversation you'll need to have with your midwife.

bubblepond · 15/09/2021 21:23

Aww lovely to get to know everyone a bit better!

I am 12 weeks today with first pregnancy, this is a honeymoon baby with my DH, been together 6.5 years but married this summer. We weren't quite expecting things to happen so fast after we stopped taking precautions but we knew it was a possibility and we were very happily surprised! We live in the North East.

We had one early scan at 9+4, at which I was measuring 8+4 which worries me slightly even though I know that measuring behind can be normal on early scans. Got my first NHS scan next Friday at 13+2.

bubblepond · 15/09/2021 21:23

Forgot to say I'm 29!

Pleasedontworry · 15/09/2021 21:50

Hi ladies - I’m 34, in Nottingham and 12+5 with our first baby (due 25 March) - had my 12 week scan today!

Scoaf · 16/09/2021 08:24

@Nats7504
Oh hey NW buddy 👍
Ive always lived here so used to the rubbish weather 🤣
I have already had 2 scans 🙈 1 at 6weeks due to previous early losses and we paid for a private 1 at 9weeks. Was amazing to see little one moving around but it feels like so long ago and the anxiety has creeped back in.
Have you had your 12 week scan? Did you have the screening? We have decided to due to my age and im pretty nervous about that too.
I hope we dont have to wait too long for the results x
Good Luck to anyone having scans today 🤞

Cxjai792 · 16/09/2021 10:23

@Nats7504 that’s exactly it! If you could have the birth exactly how you wanted or expected then we’d just go with the flow but it’s so unpredictable. Sounds like our births were quite traumatic so it’s sadly put a fear in our minds of it which is sad. Yes, they’ve told me it’s a possibility again but not definite so they’re treating this pregnancy as a new slate but with extra observation. Fingers crossedGrin

@Dyra the last midwife I spoke to said the same as you, I did ask to try a water birth but she said that’s only if I’m considered low risk by the end. How did your induction go? I was induced too on my actual due date and they did everything under the sun to get my DD out! But same as you I’d prefer to go naturally if everything is ok.

Jmal · 16/09/2021 11:43

Hi ladies,

I know I'm a bit late to the party!
First time preggo here so any and all advice would be massively appreciated!! Smile
I'm 12 weeks today but have just got my date for the 12 week scan for the 27th September when I'll be 13 + 4. Is that a bit too late? Just considering paying out for a private scan to make sure all is good. Do you guys think it's worth it or am I just being a crank?! Grin

Nats7504 · 16/09/2021 13:48

@Scoaf I had my scan this morning. I was shitting myself 🙈 Baby was healthy and sound asleep so had to jiggle a bit so she could do all the checks.

She put me forward a day, so I’m 13+3 and due 21st March. I had my screening bloods done today and they measured the NT today which was 1.4mm which she said was ok. Will you be getting yours done next week at your scan?

@Jmal Hey! I had my scan today at 13+3, they did the screening blood test at the appointment. Think that needs to be done by 14 weeks so you should be fine 😊

Bluebell88 · 16/09/2021 14:11

@Nats7504
Yay, glad your scan went well 😃
Mine went well too, I was such an anxious mess before hand! Baby was quiet to begin with but soon woke up when the sonographer started prodding around and then it wouldn’t stop moving! Made their job quite difficult, but it was so incredible to see it moving around, stretching its legs and waving.

They’ve put my dates forward by 2 days so I’m now 12+2, although a little sceptical given how much baby was moving as I was using OPKs and the two private scans have measured me bang on the dates I thought, but a few days here or there is nothing.

I also had screening bloods and NT was also 1.4mm.

All feels a bit more real now 😃

Nats7504 · 16/09/2021 14:16

@Bluebell88 Fab news on the scan! ❤️ It’s so stressful especially with the measures the hospital have in place for covid etc.

Yay to baby moving around. Mine is sleepy like it’s dad 🤣 i never know how accurate the dating really is, it’s a rough guess but like you I knew when I ovulated etc and it’s around the dates she gave me. Same measurements is a good thing. I have no idea what the norm is, I’m 37 so my age will affect the risk so fingers crossed everything is fine.

We’re going to start telling people now and I think once we do it will start to sink in.
