Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

Many-th attempt at posting the appointment schedule. Get stuck on the whirling circle of infinite loading every time so far.... Don't know why Mumsnet seems to hate it.

Everything crossed that the staffing issues are resolved, or at least much improved by the time your little one decides it's time to meet you.

@Dyra That’s fab. I don’t have anything like that in my folder so will refer to that if he misses anything again 🤦🏻‍♀️

Derbee · 11/01/2022 14:22

Is anyone signed up for NCT classes? Was really looking forward to them, and have just had an email saying everything is moving online, rather than face to face. Feeling a bit disappointed by it Sad

Countingchicks · 11/01/2022 15:03

@Derbee I've not as I worried about them going online would have been more for the social aspect but as we're going to move to another part of the country not long after birth it didn't make sense for the cost of it so I'm just doing online classes with let's talk birth and baby instead

Dyra · 11/01/2022 20:50

Oh that's really rubbish @Derbee. It's a main reason I'm not doing NCT this time, as it's only the social aspect I'm after. Are you at least getting a discount because of it? Hopefully you'll have a really good teacher anyway, and your group will still be able to meet up outside of WhatsApp.

Derbee · 11/01/2022 21:34

Yes, they do a partial refund. We decided not to cancel as it’s our first baby, so we’ll hopefully learn helpful things. And we’ll just need to make an effort to swap phone numbers and meet up with everyone on our own time.

Just makes it all seem harder!

Add to that I’ve been picked up by the diabetes clinic after my GTT. I showed borderline “glucose intolerance” not actual diabetes, but they prefer to be cautious and I now have to test my blood glucose levels 4x a day, and have growth scans/possible induction etc. Seems like a rough 10 weeks til my due date now…

Pac35 · 13/01/2022 07:59

I'm doing two sets of antenatal classes (we might be moving cities within the first 6 months to 1 year post baby depending on DHs new job). So I booked local and in the new city. (Exhausting but I'm glad we did it!) Both of mine (different companies) are face to face. I think it's disappointing and also a bit unnecessary for NCT to do online? There's no rules or recommendations for groups to be avoided right now.

SouthwestSis · 13/01/2022 08:23

NCT moved ours online also but said it was cos they hadn't found a venue or someone to lead the course rather than anything to do with covid which I found really disappointing several weeks after they had taken our money, very poor show from them and we asked for a full refund, just seemed really disorganised.

And yes I know what you mean about no recommendations to avoid groups @Pac35 but most pregnant women I've known have been avoiding large indoor groups in their late 2nd and 3rd trimester, it just makes sense with covid infections so high at the moment. We can't rely on those setting the rules to keep us safe with 150,000 people dead.

Derbee · 13/01/2022 11:05

@Pac35 I totally agree. I think it’s a bad decision from NCT. If the course leader, and the attendees are comfortable with face to face, it seems ridiculous for head office to issue their own blanket rules that let a lot of people down

Dyra · 14/01/2022 10:56

Definitely poor from NCT. Though I did look at my local course, and the vast majority of it is still in person, with only one session of the 6 (breastfeeding) being via Zoom. Shame that can't be the case everywhere else.

GTT yesterday + 28 week midwife yesterday. Drink wasn't as bad as I remembered. Tasted like unset cheap orange jelly. Wait and see now for the results. I had a 1st year student, who did very well at taking my bloods. Otherwise, BP is behaving (it was showing a definite upwards trend by this point last time), urine dip was all good, baby did not wish to have their heart be heard (extra wriggly rolling made that very clear), and bump is on the smaller side.

30 weeks on Sunday.... Definitely feels like a countdown starting. 10 weeks... Then 9 weeks... So I've started gathering stuff for a hospital bag today. Early I know, but I was caught out last time, and I'm not being caught unprepared again.

Hope everyone is doing well. ❤️

Countingchicks · 14/01/2022 11:51

How are things going @Twinkles18?

Derbee · 14/01/2022 11:57

@Dyra our local NCT course is showing as face to face. But we’ve had an email saying ALL NCT courses are now being run online. They say they’ll reassess in Feb, but I’m not hopeful.

At least my yoga and hypnobirthing classes are face to face, so we’re socialising with other expectant parents...

Twinkles18 · 14/01/2022 12:25

@countingchicks going really well thank you ❤ 30 weeks on Monday, can't believe how quickly time is going! Had GTT this week and bloods came back normal thankfully! On the countdown now to maternity leave, work has been stressful this month 😩 How's your pregnancy going??

Countingchicks · 14/01/2022 13:15

@Twinkles18 just got back from second heart scan in London and they're quite happy. Just to dot the Is and cross the Ts they want to do a scan on baby when she's six weeks old. I'm 30 + 1 now. Crazy isn't it?!! Counting down to maternity leave too, so busy at work and finishing the first week of March but mentally I've checked out...

theconfused · 15/01/2022 22:30

I've just had a look at NCT classes for my area, NOTHINGG till the end of March.

Guess it'll be too late!

I didn't know they'd be so booked up, there isn't much else in Leicester either!

Countingchicks · 15/01/2022 22:45

@theconfused have a look for the honest midwife. First class free and it's on let's talk birth and baby. We've done class one and two and doing the hypnobirthing course. All online and cheaper than nct

HopefulRose · 15/01/2022 23:00

Working from home guidance is going to be lifted on Jan 26, apparently. I’ll be 33weeks but still a while from mat leave 😫 .. they’ll also want me back in the office 😢 anyone else in the same situation?

Dyra · 15/01/2022 23:46

I currently have everything crossed @HopefulRose. Any chance your work will see the light and just continue letting you work from home? Especially as (I assume) it's going to only be a handful of weeks.

@theconfused Oh no. Sad The same happened to me with DD. Fortunately NCT put on an extra session in the nearest city which I managed to get in on. Keep checking, and maybe NCT will do the same for your area. Does your NHS trust have any classes running? Or have any antenatal videos on YouTube? Otherwise, I've also heard good things about the honest midwife.

SouthwestSis · 16/01/2022 00:03

@HopefulRose they may lift working from home guidance in general but you will remain at extra risk being in 3rd trimester of pregnancy so your work will need to do an updated risk assessment.
Consult your trade union but you should be able to push for continued wfh since you are so far along in your pregnancy.

HopefulRose · 16/01/2022 06:10

Thanks @Dyra @SouthwestSis .. unfortunately in a role that expects me to be in but hoping as it will only be for a few weeks they might make an exception for me. Already wishing I could go off sooner!

Derbee · 16/01/2022 16:37

@theconfused it might be worth calling them, the lady was very helpful when I wanted to swap course areas

els96 · 17/01/2022 02:07

Hey ladies! Hope everyone's pregnancy is going good. Has anyone got any tips on sleeping?? Currently writing this at 02:07, can't sleep cause of restless legs and just struggling to stay still! 🤦‍♀️ it's really getting me down as I sleep till 11am when I finally get off and feel like I've wasted the day! Help 😭🤣 xx

Cxjai792 · 17/01/2022 09:07

@els96
Hey! I’m suffering from the same thing as you! Think I finally fell asleep just after 3:15 this morning then my daughter woke up for the day at 5:45. I have read that some people tried eating a banana before bed, or when the feeling starts to walk around and stretch but it’s last thing you want to do when it’s the early hours😂
Really feel for you because every night I just want to cry and mine starts sometimes during the day when I sit down. It’s horrible!xx

Nats7504 · 17/01/2022 09:19

I’m another sufferer! Then when I do eventually get to sleep I have some really crazy and messed up dreams 🤦🏻‍♀️

Countingchicks · 17/01/2022 09:53

I've been drinking tonic water as I can't stand bananas. Seems to work!
