@DJmum83 he's so obsessed with her its lovely to see. He gets so excited he forgets what her name is because he calls her his little sister and has to ask us to remind him of her name 🤣 she's sleeping well but only if in with us at the moment. Feeding is the bit we're struggling with. They didn't make me feed her before we left the hospital and I was so dead thay I didn't think about it myself. So she wouldn't latch on at all and I was having to hand express colostrum onto a teaspoon to feed it to her, she didn't feed for the whole day the first day and in the night she hardly did either then I had to top her up with formula for a day and a half before I got some shields and she started feeding off my breast with them but my god the pain 😭xx

DJmum83 · 29/08/2021 14:52

@lucyrp I tried breastfeeding with my first 2 the pain was so bad.
Hope it eases soon.
The midwives should be sending out a breastfeeding support worker ask her about it. Xx

2020mission · 29/08/2021 14:57

@lucyrp how was breast feeding with your first? Hopefully it will get easier for you... I just assumed they'd always check you haven't got any issues with feeding before releasing you from hospital but I guess these days they don't! Were you checked out of hospital pretty soon after Evelyn was born?

lucyrp · 29/08/2021 15:03

@DJmum83 I've got some nipple trauma at the moment so its hard as I think subconsciously I'm withholding feeds 🥺 yeah I've said to the midwife I want her to check how she's latching etc with the shields as I'm unsure if we're doing it correctly. Xx

@2020mission I struggled with the first few days with my first but the midwives in hospital before I was discharged helped with latch etc. Then I fed for 12 months until I returned to work and it was great. Yeah they're supposed to but because it was in a midwife led unit they left us to it which I didn't really like so much I wish there had been more structure to the aftercare. The midwife had a quick look but Evelyn wasn't latching but she said shouldn't be a problem as she knew where it was and I know what I'm doing because I did it before and that was that. We left about 3/4 hours after she was born but I missed the first few alert hours cx

Kirky658 · 29/08/2021 16:45

@djmum83 and everyone, sorry, we've been rushed off our feet since we got home and haven't stopped. Alice is doing so well, feeding well but tends to just sleep in the day and have a party at night 😂 so we are good but exhausted. Xx

Crazydoglady123 · 29/08/2021 16:47

Quick jump on here...it's a GIRL!!!!!!!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗

Justanothercyster · 29/08/2021 18:22

@lucyrp aw bless, good they're coming to help

@DJmum83 not long to go, hope it all goes smoothly with the bp etc

@Kirky658 glad she's doing well! Are you feeling better now you're all home?

Saw your video on Instagram @Crazydoglady123 so chuffed for you! Knew it didn't necessarily mean boy having photo evidence from the sonographer 😅

Justanothercyster · 29/08/2021 19:10

Did any of you feel terrified in the third trimester?
Dh unpacked the Snuzpod yesterday and he was so excited bless him and I just sat there staring and feeling guilty that I was anxious :/ as if there's going to be a baby sleeping in there! Can't get my head round it.

Kirky658 · 29/08/2021 19:18

@crazydoglady123 congrats!!!
@justanothercyster yeah it is so good to be home, good to have family support too. Its hard work though haha xx

Haiyaa · 29/08/2021 19:32

Yay! Saw your video @Crazydoglady123, so pleased you have your little girl!

@lucyrp, I really struggled with my first, she basically tore my nipple to shreds whilst still in recovery. Turns out she had a tongue tie. I would dread feeds and my toes would be curling with pain until she settled. Lansinoh is your friend!

Glad you’re settled at home now @Kirky658, those first few weeks whilst they learn about day vs night are killer but they do get it eventually!

Kate105 · 29/08/2021 19:47

Congratulations @Crazydoglady123 how lovely for you!

Glad you're hanging on in there @Kirky658 , it must feel so good to be home

The terror is real @Justanothercyster and it simultaneously gets bigger and smaller as you get closer to your due date... On the one hand I am desperate to not be pregnant any more, on the other I am also desperate to not be entirely responsible for a tiny human life 😂🙈 every so often I look at OH and say "we should've got a dog"

becarefuloutthere · 29/08/2021 21:10

@Crazydoglady123 aww yay so happy for you!! 🥰 need to check out this vid don't I! X

Florence13 · 31/08/2021 04:20

Yay found you all!!

@lucyrp aww massive congratulations on your gorgeous girl Evelyn that is on my names list as it was my great grandmas name I think it’s so lovely!! Sorry to hear about feeding I hope it gets easier soon for you.

@Kirky658 aww so happy your home but sorry to hear Alice hasn’t quite got the day and night figured out I’m sure she will soon!

@Justanothercyster I feel very much the same if it’s any consolation we have been working on the nursery and the travel system got delivered and it’s all starting to feel very real.

@Crazydoglady123 a girl!! Yay ☺️

@DJmum83 I hope your growth scan went well and your BP is behaving itself.

lucyrp · 31/08/2021 04:59

@Crazydoglady123 congratulations! Seen the lovely videos on your Instagram🥰

@Haiyaa I've had 3 midwives tell me she doesn't have a tongue tie and I thought maybe she had a small posterior one but she seems to be sticking her tongue out a fair way and to look at it looks normal but can't think why else she won't latch on when I've been told we're both doing everything right🥺

@Florence13 pregnancy insomnia ?!🤪 it was OHs grandmothers name which is why we've used it 🥰 and rose was my grandmother who lived until 100🥺 it's a struggle but I guess compared to a few days ago it is much better. Still having to use shields for every feed but hopefully we'll ditch those soon. X

Florence13 · 31/08/2021 05:16

@lucyrp yup it’s very real 😂 and oh bless you well glad it’s getting much better. I hope it continues to get easier and you can ditch the shields shortly.

Justanothercyster · 31/08/2021 09:29

It's good to know I'm not the only one feeling a bit anxious!
I'm back to work tomorrow so that should take my mind off things a bit, time is just whizzing past!

I second the pregnancy insomnia 🙋🏽‍♀️ it's a bloody nightmare!

So I'm a bit pissed off. We have a couple who have been our friends since uni and we've gotten really close, they're pretty much the only people we hang out with apart from family since covid happened, we love them. We went over to theirs yesterday and when we got there they said their other friend is coming over too as he's just finished isolating. I was a bit like, umm bit worrying but ok, just assumed he'd been pinged like they thought. When he got there he explained he'd actually had covid and his last day of isolation was Saturday- but he still had the odd cough. I was super uncomfortable but we couldn't really leave as it's just awkward so we kept our distance as much as possible. I'm sure it's ok but I'm still paranoid I'm going to get covid now! Is that stupid? Also feeling a bit pissed off because they know I'm now near the end of pregnancy and he didn't seem concerned that I may get it at all. Sort of like "well if you do you do"... gah. Wish I'd never gone now.

HappyMrsR · 31/08/2021 18:13

Hi all I'm 28+3 and I'm feeling a bit anxious but it's because I'm worrying that I've got so much to do before baby comes I feel like I don't have enough time. This is baby 5 so you would think i would be used to it but this pregnancy feels completely different to any of the others and I feel like I'm stressing out about the least littlest thing.

For those who have already had their babies congratulations and hope yous are all well x

Gem176 · 31/08/2021 18:30

We have another bus baby 😊

This is wee Katie, born at 11.32am weighing 6lbs 2oz.

Absolutely besotted already!!

Another 5am wake up call here this morning 🙋🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ possibly linked to my mat leave cover falling through last minute rather than baby for once though... Argh!

Also, anyone else just a bottomless pit right now? Cannot seem to fill myself. Really hope this isn't another growth spurt being signalled by giant child...

2020mission · 31/08/2021 18:32

@Justanothercyster I'd be feeling the same if I was over at a friends and someone turned up that had recently been covid positive and was also still coughing. Hopefully they had followed the rules and stayed home for the full isolation period. It is hard to believe someone still coughing couldn't still be contagious but it must be ok if that's the rules? You're vaccinated anyway so try not to worry too much.

I've just got one of those big exercise/birthing balls to sit on at home now to try and help with restless legs and the compressed nerve in my thigh. Has anyone else got one?

Kate105 · 31/08/2021 18:32

Ahhhhh congratulations @Gem176 I do have to say I love the name 😂🥰

2020mission · 31/08/2021 18:33
