I am finishing work on 23rd December. I’ll only be 34 weeks but my daughter came at 35 and I was still working so didn’t get any maternity leave. This time I’m really hoping for some time before baby to get more prepared! I also had 5 weeks of annual leave I could use so I don’t actually start maternity leave until past my due date 😁 or whenever baby arrives anyway! Just keeping 🤞🏻 I make it to 37 weeks this time but also don’t want to be going over and being induced.

0Scapes · 18/11/2021 21:16

I’m hoping to start maternity leave just after 37 weeks but as I don’t yet have my Mat B 1 my work won’t allow me to make any plans! I forgot to ask for it due to the surprise change of midwife at my 25 week appointment so I rang up and was told she would post it but still haven’t seen it yet. I was also meant to get a call with antenatal classes but that never happened either. I’m not feeling filled with confidence at the moment if I’m honest!! (Sorry off on a tangent!)

Also as this is my first pregnancy it’s so difficult knowing how I’ll be feeling by then so it’s hard to say when will be the right time. I do feel like I’m starting to flag a bit now so May need to reconsider!

Is it normal to be so warm? My poor dp was freezing in the car earlier because i had the window wide open Blush

Is anyone having a 4D scan?
I've got one booked for December 12th
I got to meet my boys at Christmas time my last pregnancy's (Xmas day and the 23rd) so it will be nice to see this little one around Christmas time too

laalaaleelee · 20/11/2021 23:32

Yes I've been really warm! And I'm normally a very cold person! My OH said I've been sleeping with the blankets of me a few times this week.

Winterfellismyhome · 21/11/2021 07:39

@feb2022 aw thats sweet! Do they have similar birthdays?

OP posts:
feb2022 · 21/11/2021 07:51

@Winterfellismyhome yeah they are only 12 months and 2 days apart and they turn 2&3 this year and they are both car mad 😂
Cars and construction vehicles have officially taken over my life 😉

BabyFeb22 · 24/11/2021 09:17

Hope everyone's okay! First pregnancy and don't know if I'm just being a moaner but I'm really struggling with pain at the top of my stomach- feels 100% like muscle pain but it's so painful at night- is this normal?

Jenc1111 · 24/11/2021 09:55

@BabyFeb22 I think I have something similar… at the top of my stomach, sometimes feels like nerve pain sometimes more muscular. Really hurts when I lie on my side… which is obviously very annoying when trying to sleep. I tried to google and seems like it’s something to do with your uterus expanding and trapping nerves between the uterus and your skin.

BabyFeb22 · 24/11/2021 12:23

@Jenc1111 Yes it sounds exactly the same! I get bad reflux so didn't know if it was related to that but the tablets I'm on for reflux have calmed that down but already being tired and then in pain when lying down is probably making me a 100 times more mardy if that's at all possible haha

Sunshine8888 · 25/11/2021 16:40

This third trimester is hard work! I ended up fainting the other day - just out of nowhere! Really need this baby to stay in until 2022 but also can’t wait to not be pregnant anymore!!

BabyFeb22 · 27/11/2021 20:26

I don't want to sound like a moan but I'm struggling tbh, baby is fine and while I have a killer UTI she has decided now is the time to start kicking on my bladder what a little love hahah! I'm still with my partner but I won't lie it's not perfect he's a recovering alcoholic and has been struggling recently with relapses! My fear is that while I love when she kicks I feel like because I don't touch my belly until she kicks that I'm not attached, am I just overthinking this?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 28/11/2021 12:04

@Sunshine8888 so sorry to hear you fainted! Are you feeling better now?

@BabyFeb22 hope you're okay. To answer your question, pregnancy feels pretty abstract for me still also. And many friends have told me that (like with anyone) it can take a few weeks after the birth to get to know their little ones personalities and to fall properly in love with them! Everyone's different. Hope you're okay with your relationship, addiction is a tough one. Is he back at his AA meetings and counselling etc? My partner's a recovering gambling addict, luckily no relapses at the moment, but big changes and upheaval is a trigger for slipping. Some extra help might be good for him right now x

miracle2022 · 29/11/2021 15:43

Hi all - hope you're doing ok? Listening to the news re boosters, it seems like the general advice to get a booster would also apply to pregnant women. What are you all thinking re getting a booster - comfortable / not comfortable esp with us now being in the third trimester or near enough? Just interested in thoughts. Thanks all.

SouthwestSis · 29/11/2021 17:32

I managed to get my booster booked for the end of this week thankfully. I had my first jabs quite early so it's already 6 months since my 2nd dose, so I know my first 2 jabs will already be wearing off and I'm very keen to get my protection topped up for my third trimester!

glasspaw · 29/11/2021 18:15

I won’t be eligible for the booster until after baby is due unfortunately. Wishing I had made the cut sooner for the first one as it would be nice to feel like I had a bit of a top up in trimester 3!

Anyone else suffering death by acid reflux? Can’t cope with how relentless it is!

0Scapes · 29/11/2021 18:28

I’ve got my booster booked in for a couple of weeks. I had mine relatively early so have also been getting concerned that I’m not that protected against Covid. It seems that pregnant women are being quite badly affected so I’m more than happy to get mind topped up!

Dove88 · 29/11/2021 18:37

@glasspaw re the acid reflux, mine has been terrible. However I have discovered (thanks to a wise lady at work) that watermelon works like magic to relieve it. I know it sounds mad but give it a try, hopefully it works as well for you as it does for me!

Hi, first time posting on this thread, I'm due 22nd Feb! Make sure it's not gallbladder pain, I'm going through this at the moment, and it's absolute agony!

I kept being told by the doctor that it was muscle pain or skin stretching, but it's so bad at night after I've eaten a big meal.

Now needing surgery to remove it, but I'm refusing until baby arrives. If it's gallbladder related they'll give you medicine to get rid of acid, which can help 😊

The pain is middle of top stomach, and / or on right rib, it's kept me up at night etc, and felt a bit nauseous etc. Its really easy to diagnose x

becarefuloutthere · 29/11/2021 19:26

@dg93 welcome! I'm 22nd feb too. 28 weeks tomorrow can you believe it?! I'm
Excited to be in the third trimester and closer to meeting her, but also feel sad it's coming to an end too. Odd feeling! Have you found out what you're having or is it a surprise?

I won't be eligible for my booster until March so hoping baby will be out by then! 😅

Congrats!!! I have to say I love our due date 22/02/2022 🥰

We're having a baby girl too, she's growing very large right now - I have a growth scan on Monday to double check, but she's growing a few weeks ahead of schedule right now!

SouthwestSis · 29/11/2021 20:30

For those saying they won't be eligible for a booster for a while, have you seen that the recommended interval had been brought down to 3 months from 6 months now in light of the omnicron variant?
Hopefully should enable more pregnant ladies to get their protection topped up this winter.

glasspaw · 29/11/2021 20:30

@Dove88 well that sounds significantly more delicious than the antacid based diet I’ve been trying to cope on 🤣 thanks for the tip, I’ll give it a go!

becarefuloutthere · 30/11/2021 09:39

@dg93 I've never wanted something to be on time more 😂 would be such a cool dob for them! Ooh good luck for Monday, I hope they don't move your due date. Some baby's just are big, just like some adults are!

Jellybean023 · 30/11/2021 11:16

@dg93 I’ve had gallbladder pain, not during pregnancy thankfully and I don’t envy you - it’s agony. I was told eating fatty foods can make it worse, so it might help to look at what you’re eating too.

@BabyFeb22 it might not be related at all but I had my 28 week appointment last week and was told to look out for pain under the ribs as a possible sign of pre eclampsia. I think it’s still quite early for pre eclampsia but maybe look it up and check it doesn’t sound the same. If it does I think you’re advised to get checked out.
