I had my 25 week appointment yesterday and turns out my midwife has left! The new one seems fine and I know this kind of thing happens but I’m just a bit annoyed that we didn’t find out before the appointment. A call or email would have been nice either from her or even from the surgery itself!

Also I was supposed to get my Mat B 1 but it wasn’t until I left I realised I didn’t have it which doesn’t fill me with confidence 😂.

feb2022 · 05/11/2021 09:52

I'm not looking forward to the fireworks tonight!
My oldest is terrified of them! It's gonna be a loooong night 😅

feb2022 · 05/11/2021 09:54

@0Scapes ohh that's soo annoying!
Every time I've gone in to see mine it's been a stand in midwife, rushed off her feet so I've felt like I haven't had the time to raise my concerns so then I get home and just worry and Google!
I've got my glucose test on the 11th December, I didn't have one with my other pregnancies so I don't really know what to expect

catinthehat12 · 05/11/2021 11:17

I have my midwife appointment today, thanks for the reminder of my MATB1 certificate though, I would have forgotten. I read on my works policy that I give them the original, is that right? I mean makes sense as what else is it useful for!

Glucose tolerance test in a couple of weeks. Not looking forward to it.

Otherwise things ticking along nicely, lots of movement and starting to notice a bit of routine with it now. Also really counting down the days at work.

0Scapes · 05/11/2021 16:06

@feb2022 I must have been quite lucky then as I’d only seen the one until this point! Also good luck with the fireworks!!

I’ve not heard anything about the glucose test. When does that usually happen and what does it normally consist of?

The midwife did say I had ketones in my urine which she didn’t seem too concerned about but did say ‘ooh you’ve not had breakfast yet this morning!’.. which I had… so I did the obvious thing and google it and worry myself 😂.

Winterfellismyhome · 05/11/2021 17:33

@catinthehat12 my midwife was adamant that i had to keep the original as I wouldnt get another. Even if HR asked, i could only give them a copy

MStarG · 05/11/2021 18:17

@catinthehat12 same I've been told to keep the original as workplaces are good at losing them and getting a replacement is near impossible.

I'm 24 weeks and have only seen a midwife once! (Plus my 2 scans.) So I have no idea if she is meant to be my actual midwife or what the deal is. My other appointments have been last minute changes to phone and different midwives each time.

catinthehat12 · 05/11/2021 19:25

Thanks both, I think I will keep the original then. My manager supposedly sends off the original in the post to our payroll, so the risk is high. I will give them a scan instead and see if that’s ok.

@0Scapes I don’t think it’s routine unless growth scans or family history prompt it, so you may not need to have it.

pusscous · 05/11/2021 20:02

I've come down with a stinking head cold curtesy of my two girls. Had to cancel my once a year night with a few mum friends, which I'm sad about as rarely get adult company apart from dh. Feeling sorry for myself but wondering if I should go get tested, haven't been anywhere anyway as don't won't to move from in front of the fire.

Cruiser123 · 05/11/2021 20:23

When is everyone due?

I'm due February 26th and expecting a little girl.

My son who is 14 months old was 2 weeks overdue though so she could well be a March baby!

I have to say I'm getting really excited now and can't wait to meet the baby.

I wonder everyday what she looks like. ❤️

feb2022 · 05/11/2021 21:12

@Cruiser123 I'm due the 28th feb with a little girl also I've got 2 boys already
I'm so exited I wonder what she's gonna look like all the time

2under2howscary · 05/11/2021 21:15

OGTT was fine, and my results were normal woo!
@Cruiser123 I'm due 1st February with another little boy xx

becarefuloutthere · 06/11/2021 10:17

@pusscous aw hope you feel better soon! No harm doing a test if you have them in. You should prob do a pcr rather than LTF. You can order them in.
@Cruiser123 due 22nd also with a girl. It's our first after 20 months of trying and ivf so it's been nerve racking but we're very excited to meet her now and see what she looks like also!
@2under2howscary I'm glad all was normal with your results! I think I have mine at 28 weeks, hoping to find out the date at my MW appointment on weds.

Ghoulette · 06/11/2021 16:55
@0Scapes I am getting the Spectre 1, it's an affordable hospital grade closed system portable pump - mains and battery. Hoping to use it to help establish supply also, and to pump at work. I went on the recommendations and reviews though
Thank you for this! I've been shopping around to try and find something that isn't an expensive Medela one. Even renting it seem extortionate!

I am 26 weeks now, feeling a lot of pain but they game me codeine for it which has helped immeasurably. No more insomnia because of the severity of the pain, no more hallucinations due to lack of sleep.

Didn't get my MATB1 at my 25 week appointment either. Doing everything by phone had made things so much more complicated!

Sunshine8888 · 06/11/2021 20:56

Hope everyone’s doing ok. I’m 27 weeks tomorrow with 28 week midwife app on Friday. Will be nice to have everything checked as it’s been so long since the 16 week one. Baby is properly booting me and can see my tummy moving 😂 also suffering terribly with insomnia which I don’t recall with my little girl! I’m just so tired but then lie awake for hours / wake up constantly!! Starting to dread nights to be honest it’s getting so bad. Is anyone else struggling? Any tips?!

0Scapes · 07/11/2021 14:43

@Sunshine8888 I’ve been very similar with sleep! Get to sleep absolutely fine but then I’ll be awake in the night for an hour or so. The other night it was more than two hours!! My midwife suggested trying pregnancy yoga - also to help with hip pain... So I’m booked in for a class over Zoom on Tuesday! Hoping it’ll help but I think it’ll be several weeks before noticing any difference.

pusscous · 07/11/2021 16:06

I think I will by Thursday. Just after I typed message Friday evening Husbands start up had just booked him a flight to Dubai for 5 days of meetings. Geer great timing. He left really early this morning and will be back Thursday. Hopefully have enough food in the house.

Sunshine8888 · 07/11/2021 20:29

@0Scapes I did pregnancy yoga with my first but I’ve been slightly put off as my waters broke a month early just as I was about to start the class 🙈🙈🙈 it was most likely unrelated!!

If it's not pain related like mine was, then these things helped me initially before the pain set it, and also before pregnancy (long time insomniac here)
 • white noise (plenty of free apps, I found rain was the most pleasant)
 • cooling gel pads for my hands and feet and menthol rub when that wouldn't suffice
 • meditation techniques: this tied in nicely with the white noise as I would imagine I was laying under a massive leaf or in a tent in the rainforest!
 • ear plugs: without white noise, and although my house was silent, I found I was "listening out" because I was awake and my brain was active. The biogel (I think that's their name) ones from boots really helped

I found on nights that the white noise and meditation didn't work that the ear plugs would!

Ghoulette · 07/11/2021 20:56

Anyone else's baby all one side? Most of my kicks happen on the right and when I feel my Bellini can feel his butt or head on the left side!

I get some kicks down on my left hip and occasionally in the middle between my ribs but no where else on my left at all. When I press there I don't feel any baby either, just squish! Is that normal?

Macccc · 08/11/2021 10:19

@Cruiser123 I’m due 26th as well! First baby and we’ve decided not to find out the gender, we’re very male dominated both sides of our families so I think it’ll probs be a boy!

@Ghoulette yes my baby seems to be mostly at the right side. At my 22 week midwife appointment she felt my tummy and said the baby was mostly to the right but she said that was ok. The head seems to be very low down as well, like right down in my pelvis, they said at my scan and my midwife appointment baby was very low down but they never said if that’s normal or not so it’s been worrying me slightly!

I still feel like it’s not real and I’m going to get told one day I’ve imagined the whole pregnancy, does anyone else feel like that or is my brain just completely ridiculous?😂

0Scapes · 08/11/2021 14:31

@Sunshine8888 oh gosh hopefully unrelated!!!

Sunshine8888 · 08/11/2021 14:39

Thanks @Ghoulette, I already sleep with ear plugs as I’m such a light sleeper! I’ve adjusted my pregnancy pillow a bit and that seems to have helped the last two nights. I think I’ve just had a lot on my mind - constant illness here with my little girl being in nursery - and work! Can’t wait to finish, I’ve been counting down the days and think I have something like 20 left!!

Sunshine8888 · 08/11/2021 14:41

@Macccc the way I am being booted at the moment, I have no doubt there is a baby in there! 🤣 I can see my tummy move through my clothes! But the actually reality of having another baby has not hit me …. It’s so crazy to think that at this stage my little girl was here within 8 weeks!

Ghoulette · 09/11/2021 13:01

@Sunshine8888 I am glad the last couple of nights have been better. I know what you mean about having stuff on your mind and then tossing and turning with it! I find it worse on the nights before work (I went part time a couple of weeks ago) then I get into a cycle of being stressed about being too tired at work the next day, which wakes me up more!

@Macccc I have random moments where I forget for a few minutes, then I get a big boot! Reassuring to hear a one sided womb occupier is normal too, I was starting to worry something else might be occupying the space or baby was somehow stuck!
