@PrettyPlatapus
I didn’t mean it was you being overly organised I meant it must be hard having to be so prepared already to ensure you get somewhere. I think where I live it’s not quite as bad. It’s difficult working different shifts from week to week with only 4-6 weeks notice of the rota so I’m not entirely sure what to do regarding childcare, luckily my mum is going to help out when she can but she works shifts too.

@PrettyPlatapus we are viewing nurseries next week and have to put a deposit down then also. This is for a baby not starting nursery until September! Seems bonkers to me but some seem to get full quickly.

I'm not NHS but work with lots of clients/people face to face in close quarters. My risk assessment is that I can work from home for the 3-4 weeks before giving birth. I'm hoping to work up to my due date as it's a really busy time for my team and don't want to burden them too much - small team, lots of work

Sunshine8888 · 24/10/2021 09:14

I’ve already started the registration process for nursery. I waited until my little girl was 3 months old last time and couldn’t get her a place so ended up having to start at one nursery and then move her when a space opened up - really don’t want to have to do that again!

Sunshine8888 · 24/10/2021 09:14

I should add I’m registering him for a space starting February 2023 - it’s just crazy around here!!

Rmw99 · 24/10/2021 09:24

It's the same here, we're based in Oxford. You need to register before baby is even conceived 🤣. Nurseries here don't have spaces till January/ February 2023. Our original childcare has let us down but a friend has come forward willing to helo luckily. I'm also not finishing work till December il be 34 weeks and work with little ones so no chance of non face to face contact 🙄 x

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 25/10/2021 09:57

@Rmw99 oh god yeah if I was working with children, I'd be going early like you. Luckily the clients I work with I know well and they can be trusted not to come up to me with coronavirus symptoms and touch me etc 😂

Although I was out for lunch yesterday with a friend who got a message during the meal that his colleague he sits next to has just tested positive, but what can you do 🤷‍♀️

limeblossom · 25/10/2021 10:02

Hi everyone I'm 21w6d with my first baby. Have just joined Mumsnet to meet some like minded people as I'm the first of my friends to have a baby. Had my first and only scan last week and baby was measuring ahead by 1 week 😂
It's all starting to feel real now and I'm very excited

22Feb22 · 25/10/2021 17:09

Please can I be added to the facebook page?

lililou · 25/10/2021 21:24

Can I be added to fb too pls?

becarefuloutthere · 26/10/2021 10:11

@Peachi82 you have some fb requests on here 🙂

Peachi82 · 26/10/2021 12:48

I've sent them both a message already! Thanks for letting me know.

All good here, baby wriggling (however a bit less yesterday and today, it might have moved). Had heartburn from hell the other night, so bad that I vomited for 2 hours. Next midwife appointment is on Saturday in hospital, hope the midwife is nice, had mixed experiences with the last one and the one in hospital after the 12 weeks scan.

I am more and more swaying towards an elective section. Huge respect with the big surgery, but so scared to repeat the birth scenario I had with my son.

blink18two · 26/10/2021 12:49

I'm having an elective section. 100%

0Scapes · 26/10/2021 21:12

I know that each place is different but those of you that have already made enquiries with nurseries/already have little ones enrolled have you found there to be much flexibility with days of the week they attend? Due to working shifts I’m just struggling to work out how to make it work for us! I’d know which days we would need 12 months in advance so it wouldn’t be anything short notice… I just wanted to put the feelers out before contacting anywhere local as I don’t want to be bombarded with emails etc when we’re not sure of anything yet!

CucumberCool · 26/10/2021 21:39

@0Scapes

I'd make enquiries now about which nurseries have which days available. They told me which day and I've asked to be put on a reserve list for the day I actually want.

0Scapes · 26/10/2021 21:58

@PrettyPlatapus wow! I best get cracking then 😂

nl1991 · 27/10/2021 01:22

Hi please could I be added to the Facebook page too? Smile

feb2022 · 27/10/2021 10:54

Hey everyone how are you all?
Been absent on here for a bit, both boys have had this horrible virus bug that's doing the rounds.. not fun at all! 😅
I'm 22+2 now and feeling regular movements, heartburn is also kicking off big time and just all round exhausted 😂
I feel like I've got 200000 things to do around the house but I'm just procrastinating and finding any excuse not to do it!
I might have to get the playdoh out for the kids and try and do something productive while they are occupied

Sunshine8888 · 28/10/2021 19:58

I think my little girl bought covid home from nursery about a month ago as my parents got it and then I did too. It was like a bad head cold that lasted about two weeks but we are all fine now. Actually quite relieved to have got it out the way ahead of winter and feel much less fearful of it now!

Winterfellismyhome · 29/10/2021 19:32

Anyone else just absolutely knackered all the time? Starting to get some pain down below when i walk too which is fun

Yes, very tired all the time. Also have a cold of doom and can't think straight.

I have a strong feeling that my midwife appointment tomorrow isn't happening. I had an appointment a couple of weeks ago and she was well weird, interrogating me why I'm consultant led (like it was my choice being old and fat...) and then kept on and on how many babies she has delivered single handedly. Anyway, she booked me in for tomorrow, but I didn't receive a text message beforehand to confirm the appointment which is usually the case. I looked it up on the NHS website and a 25 week appointment is only for first time mums. I see myself paying the parking fees and then having to defend myself why I have this appointment and then go home. Arrrgh.

Bad memories as something similar happened earlier this year (I was booked in for an appointment in the past...) and on the next day I started to miscarry.

ItsMeantToBe · 30/10/2021 08:21

I'm also really tired all the time, it's so much worse the past few weeks. I'm falling asleep around 9pm every night. Also having the craziest dreams. Like something out of a blockbuster.

@Peachi82 I've got a 25 week midwife appointment too and this isn't my first baby. I think I'm having my anti-D injection then but I might be wrong. Fingers crossed you don't have a wasted journey.

Jellybean8 · 30/10/2021 08:42

Luckily my tiredness has subsided a bit this last few weeks but the dreams I'm having are absolutely insane! So vivid and my husband said Ive been talking and shouting in my sleep all week. I had four dreams I can remember last night, so weird!

feb2022 · 30/10/2021 09:03

@Peachi82 I think if your consultant lead you do get a 25 week appointment, I was consultant led this time but I spoke to her and because my second birth was fine (haemorrhaged real bad first time) she's let me just go along with the midwives instead so my 25 week one was cancelled and it's at 28 weeks instead now

@Winterfellismyhome yes I am bloody exhausted 😂 and I'm getting the pressure feeling in my bits and the creaky pelvis 😲
God forbid I walk more than 5 minutes

feb2022 · 30/10/2021 09:05

@Jellybean8 the dreams are crazy!
I had a dream about a lady I know she's been struggling ttc for years!
She is a photographer, I dreamed I went for a photo shoot with my kids with her and she had the most beautiful little girl with her with green eyes and a big green bow in her hair.
I woke up from t

LadyBecks22 · 30/10/2021 09:06

I just feel a bit up and down - one day I can have loads of energy and others I have to crash. Also, anyone else’s baby brain massively kicked in? I’m forgetting so much - like, I put things down then later end up spend an hour looking for it, I even went into the office one day this week when I wasn’t down to go in!

Question as a first timer - when do you have to start making a birthing plan? Does the midwife guide you through it or do you have to be proactive in bringing it up when you see them?
