Hello I’m new to this thread! First time mum, expecting a little girl. 18 weeks and 2 days and due date is 13th Feb! I definitely have an ever growing bump and still feeling exhausted al the time! Please can someone also send me a link to the fb group? Thanks 😊

VixFromThe6ix · 14/09/2021 16:21

Hi everyone 👋
I'm 19 + 6 weeks. My 20wk scan is on Friday... Nervous... Excited...
Happy to read others are also tired like me. My first trimester was the worst as I needed two naps to get me through a day. Now I sometimes need a nap, but noticing every evening by 7pm my energy seems to disappear. Which sucks cause that's usually when I'd normally go for a walk which I've been too tired to do... Not good, I know.
Sleeping on the side has been an issue for me. I'm a tummy sleeper. Found myself on my tummy when I awake so I got the u-shaped pillow which now prevents me from turning into my tummy, but I still find myself not comfortable to sleep on a side, so now I mostly sleep on my back. I make an effort to turn to a side but I wake up on my back anyway lol Ugh.
So I thought having to get up twice a night for a wee was a lot, but seeing as some of you are getting up even more often than me I feel like I'm doing ok 🤣
I've been feeling weird flutter-like feeling in my tummy (usually right below belly button and bit to the sides, so not too centre) but now I'm questioning that it's just my tummy being itchy or something from the skin stretching. Would be nice to be certain a baby is kicking...
Um, can we talk about discharge?? Lol oh boy... Is anyone wearing a liner? I'm worried to get a UTI or something...

KiwiDramaQueen · 14/09/2021 16:30

@VixFromThe6ix

A lot I can relate to here! Totally wiped out by tiredness first trimester, afternoon nap and post work nap most days. Much less tired now but still struggling to get back into some healthy activities.

Back sleeper and struggling to convert to side sleeping, even with a pregnancy pillow.

And yes to the discharge and wearing liners :(. I even got my consultant to check me out for a bacterial infection as it also smells more ahem pungent than usual. But just hormones apparently!

VixFromThe6ix · 14/09/2021 16:37

@KiwiDramaQueen so hard to tell sometimes what's normal and what needs to get checked out.

Only thing I know is the colour of discharge should be white or yellow-y, otherwise I gotta go for some help.

Also, all of my first trimester I craved sour things. Now, suddenly, it's sweets. I'm downing those Lindt hazelnut chocolate bars like nobody's business 🤣

Also.... My bellybutton isn't fully an outtie yet but looks like it's working it's way to become one. Is it normal this early??

catinthehat12 · 14/09/2021 16:53

@VixFromThe6ix Yes to the itchy flutters! And almost everything else you said but the flutters I really related with.

Also my belly button was and still is an inny, but prior to pregnancy I would say it was a super inny, and now I see so much more of the inside than I used to. Do almost all belly buttons pop out eventually? I can’t imagine getting more of a bump and it staying in.

arield · 14/09/2021 17:55

Mine never popped out

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 14/09/2021 18:30

I think I've felt movements from about 16 weeks, BUT it could be gastro (constipation and wind anyone 🙈) or things stretching and moving about down there, so I can't say if it's baby or not. It feels like a tapping sometimes, or muscle twitching, not really fluttering for me. And I haven't felt anything for the last couple days 😬

Got my 20 week scan this week and feeling v nervous about it. Have been donated a load of stuff from friends, so I've very little to buy - maybe just some specifically winter stuff, a sleeping bag and any little extras. And a decent steriliser and some glass bottles and reusable nappies etc. If things go well this week, I might get some more bits then.

Yes discharge here also! Panics me when I feel it out and about, as it feels so much when walking!

Sunshine8888 · 14/09/2021 21:29

19+2 here with nhs scan tomorrow morning! Really hope everything’s ok 🤞🏻 I am feeling strong movements now, proper jabs and kicks! I reckon my husband will be able to feel them now if he’s touching me at the right time!

My stomach and back feels achy and also getting lots of discharge, I know what you mean when you say it’s unnerving @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7, I keep running to the toilet to check 🙈

Also keep waking on my back! Definitely need to get the pregnancy pillow back out soon as that did help me last time.

The tiredness has returned for me too, especially in the evenings! I just feel exhausted!

Rose212 · 14/09/2021 22:07

I had a second degree tear with my first birth and i would defo rather have that and heal again then a c section im just sooo scared at the thought of major surgery!

Regarding the belly button its sticking out for me now 😳and im the 19 weeks this week and my bump doesnt even show much its just all bloat, im quite tall so im always worrying about the size of my bump lol

Rose212 · 14/09/2021 22:09

I also keep tossing and turning in my sleep i tend to sleep on my stomach so its annoying me 😅

babyD20 · 15/09/2021 10:25

Have any anterior placenta mums felt baby yet.
I'm 19+3 and not even a flutter to be felt. Starting to worry a bit. :(

Rose212 · 15/09/2021 11:13

@babyD20 me i think i felt a flutter only 2 days ago when i drank some orange juice 😅 other than that not really

glasspaw · 15/09/2021 13:08

Glad a few others are experiencing tiredness returning in tri2. I was worried I wasn’t eating enough or something but I am shattered this week (week 18) after having felt much better energy wise for about 4/5 weeks. Feels like a backwards step 😕

Peachi82 · 15/09/2021 13:15

@glasspaw
Same here... I was suddenly so tired yesterday afternoon that I had to go to bed and DS had my phone to play with Blush
I tried to eat a bit more today and drink more. Not sure if it wasn't just lack of energy Sad

Sunshine8888 · 15/09/2021 13:39

20 week scan went well with nothing of concern 🤗 also confirmed again that it’s a boy 💙 starting to feel more real now I’m nearly at the halfway point!

Does anyone know what we are meant to do about whooping cough and flu vaccines?

feb220222 · 15/09/2021 13:57

@Sunshine8888 my midwife gave me the Whooping cough vaccine at my 16 week appointment and said I’ll receive an invite for flu and if I’ve not had it by my 25 week appointment she will give it me then.

CurlyWurlyTwos · 15/09/2021 14:02

Glad your scan went well @Sunshine8888 !! Congratulations on a little boy 💙!

At my 16 wk appointment, my midwife told me to organise WC & flu jabs at GP myself.

Not that I've done it yet 😬!

Also feeling knackered, I never got the 2nd trimester 'bounce' - been tired throughout 😂!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/09/2021 14:42

@glasspaw I'm feeling exhausted this week (week 20) having previously felt pretty good. Was thinking same as you, do I need to eat more etc, but sounds like it's just normal!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/09/2021 14:42

@Sunshine8888 congrats on the boy!

glasspaw · 15/09/2021 16:20

@Peachi82 @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I think I’m probably just putting too much pressure on myself to be able to operate at normal levels, but it’s really been getting me down the last couple of days 😞. Think maybe I just need a break from work haha.

On a more positive note, we had an early sexing scan and found out we are having a boy. It’s lovely to know a bit more about who is growing in my tummy! Feeling lots of kicking now which I thought was odd this early but my midwife said that because I was quite skinny going into pregnancy that can sometimes result in more sensitivity towards early kicks. Definitely not complaining! I like to think it’s just him saying “hi!”

Sunshine8888 · 15/09/2021 20:04

@feb220222 ahh ok that sounds like a good way to do it but didn’t happen for me and I don’t recall midwife mentioning it either! I don’t have a 25 week appointment as this is my second baby. My next midwife app is at 28 weeks!

Think I’ll try and get through to the GP which is w challenge in itself….

Sunshine8888 · 15/09/2021 20:06

Thank you @CurlyWurlyTwos and @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7, we did actually know it was a boy as had a surprise gender scan at 16 weeks but it’s nice to have it reconfirmed! 💙 feel like I can start buying things now! I’ve also been trying to teach my toddler she’s having a baby brother but definitely don’t think she gets it 😂 she has learnt there is a baby in my tummy but then today at my mums she pulled my mums top up and shouted ‘baby’ and got quite cross when granny told her there wasn’t a baby in there 😂🙈

Hope2022 · 16/09/2021 20:35

20 week scan tomorrow, starting to feel really anxious but excited too!…can’t wait for a detailed scan!
We already know we are having a girl, found out 3 weeks ago, but it’s always good to check haha 😂

19+2 and tiredness is still lingering!! 😴

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/09/2021 10:44

@Hope2022 good luck for your scan!

@Sunshine8888 that's sweet of your toddler, your poor mum 😂 hopefully it was at home and not out

Had my scan this week and it was all normal. Feel I can maybe buy some more maternity clothes now!

On movements, think I've felt them from about 16 weeks, but some days there's a lot and some days very little. However at my scan baby was facing down for part of it and kicking, and I couldn't feel a thing. So I think it depends on where they hang out inside too. I was freaking out when I went a couple days w/o feeling anything tho, but I'll be less worried going forwards

Hope2022 · 17/09/2021 16:59

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 scan went well thank you! All is perfect 😍

Haha my little wriggler was face down a lot and even though she was moving lots I couldn’t feel her moving.. I first felt flutters at 16weeks too and some days barely feel her at all. I’m guessing there’s still lots of room in there at the moment, in a few weeks I think locks will be more regular! 😍
