Absolutely no sign of him now unfortunately, everything has settled back down again. Nerves are building for Saturday but seeing all the ladies here that have already come out the other side is great encouragement!

PineappleSun · 22/09/2021 02:45

Martin Robin was finally born 11.22am on Monday 20th after starting induction at 1pm Saturday 18th, despite being up feeding him at this time, I'm smitten

AdventuresAwait · 22/09/2021 05:25

Wonderful news @PineappleSun, congratulations! Xx

Firevie · 22/09/2021 07:01

@PineappleSun congratulations! Amazing news! Enjoy your baby cuddles xx

Hey ladies, hope you and the babies that have arrives are all doing ok x

Has anyone who’s had their little one heard from the doctors yet about their blood tests? I got a text today saying I need to book one for November and then it will be yearly.

I’ve started to have a slight worry again as I had pushed GD to the very back of my mind ever since the birth!

@CherLW I have my blood test next week and then my pp 6 week check (I'll be 8 weeks) the week after once the results are in.

I'll be honest I have finger finger pricked a few times after carb heavy meals just for reassurance my blood sugar isn't sky high! So it hasn't been so I'm hopeful all will be ok for now.

Moominmiss · 15/10/2021 06:04

@CherLW I’m exactly 6 weeks after baby today, and due to have my blood test in a few hours so will see what it says.

Like you I’ve sort of forgotten/ignored the GD and now I’m being tested again I’m terrified it’ll be here to stay.

I also got up about an hour ago and gulped down a huge glass of orange squash as I was so thirsty and only when I was lying back in bed I thought shit! Really hope that won’t mess with the results.

Will update here when I get my results and hopefully I can say I’m diabetes free!

CherLW · 15/10/2021 09:22

@Bubbles1st i haven’t tested since the birth, starting to think I should have but it’s too late now. I don’t even know where my kit is, I think I might have even left it in hospital 😕

@Moominmiss I’m sure the orange squash will be ok, I know what you mean tho it would just add to the worry. Thinking of you for your blood test .. fingers crossed we can all stay diabetes free

HbA1c results! Has anyone else had theirs yet?

Mine just came back at 35 which I'm happy about as under 42 but i guess it still seems much closer to 42 than the lower limit of 21.

I have my post partum gp check next week so will discuss it then but just curious about my fellow gd ladies

CherLW · 22/10/2021 16:44

@Bubbles1st I have my blood test November 15th… I’m hoping they will be low!!

I’ve got my gp check next week too, hoping it goes ok. Not sure what to expect!

I had my 6 week postpartum fasting blood test results back. They were 5.2 so just within range. They’re happy enough with that, so my next test will be around my birthday in July.

Bubbles1st · 22/10/2021 21:14

@Moominmiss interesting you had a fasting blood test, did they do HbA1c test too as that is how they determine pre diabetes status?

Moominmiss · 23/10/2021 10:37

@Bubbles1st, I just checked my nhs app for the test results and looks like hbA1c was 37?! Is that ok? Its in the same section as my fasting blood test result and the heading just says normal? I know that the fasting level of 5.2 is ok and normal but do I assume that 37 is normal too?

Bubbles1st · 23/10/2021 11:39

@Moominmiss yeah it's under 42 which is what we want, as I say I will ask though if it's still high in terms of potential down the line as. Will let you know what my gp says

Bubbles1st · 26/10/2021 14:51

@Moominmiss my gp told me with a hbac1 level of 35 I was miles away from being pre diabetic and I had nothing to currently worry about reference sugar

Moominmiss · 26/10/2021 15:59

@Bubbles1st so do you think I should count 37 as being ok and not pre diabetic? I hope so!

Bubbles1st · 26/10/2021 16:10

Yep, he was very sure that it's 41 and above and even then said well 42 really.

Moominmiss · 26/10/2021 16:23

@Bubbles1st thank you. I’m going to assume the fact that the doctors haven’t been in touch regarding the results and I’ve been told it’s fine, that it really is ok.

To think we’ll have this worry every year from now on!

AdventuresAwait · 27/10/2021 22:47

Hello again! I didn't realise you were still posting on here! Hope everyone is well. I've got my blood test to check for diabetes tomorrow (along with babies check and 8 week immunisations). It's good to read what the results should be. Bit nervous as I only checked finger pricks a few times after the birth and they were all fine but still wondering if this will be OK. I didn't know it's then a yearly check xx

Bubbles1st · 27/10/2021 23:52

@AdventuresAwait yes if you're under 41 on your bloods it should just be yearly after that.

Fingers crossed results are good for you and little ones vaccinations go ok

AdventuresAwait · 28/10/2021 00:06

Thanks @Bubbles1st! I'm much more nervous about her vaccinations than my blood tests so not thought much about it until I saw this thread. I'll let you know how both go.

AdventuresAwait · 28/10/2021 00:06

I've gone back to my usual pre-pregnancy eating. Have others?? Xx

Bubbles1st · 28/10/2021 01:24

@AdventuresAwait yes I'm eating much as I was before but but for much longer as my blood test showed I still had a fatty liver from pregnancy and as I'm overweight this hit home and I really want to be fit and healthy for my boy so really going to cut down on Saturated fats. Thank god sugar isn't an issue so I can still turn to pasta and sweets in moderation!

JackJack84 · 28/10/2021 08:56

Hi ladies hope you are all well! Does anyone mind if I start a new GD support thread for anyone who is newly diagnosed? Thank you so much to everyone who gave me advice when I was in my diagnosis panic, I'd love to be able to pay this forward now I'm coming to the end of my journey x x

AdventuresAwait · 28/10/2021 12:47

That's lovely @JackJack84!

Some of us can keep chatting here if we'd like can't we, so no problem to have both. I think it's nice.

Had my blood test today, will see what the result is! Xx
