We brought Lorenzo home today ! It was touch and go and a couple of the staff were really surprised they were letting us home but obviously my boy is a super star and they trust his mummy can feed him well!

We are so happy it feels amazing to be home, to see my dogs, already day had the best hours sleep I've had all week in my own bed and incredible shower!

Today is officially a great day.

Good luck to all those with things happening! I can't wait for everyone to have their babies and feel this way.

Everyone meet Alyssa, finally chosen a name after 2 days of deciding 😁

@CherLW yes need to book a drs app to get tested & then have to get tested every year to check you haven't got it. We have a 40% chance of getting it now we've had it!

Haven't had any proper chocolate yet, but was nice to have a sandwich & not have to worry about my sugar levels!

Hope everyone else is coping well

Yay @Bubbles1st! That's great. It's so nice to be home isn't it? Xx

Lovely name and picture @GWhiteley! Xx

bewitchingnight · 05/09/2021 07:21

@Bubbles1st your post is lovely, great to hear you're all at home and hope your first night together was everything you hoped for!

@GWhiteley lovely name, welcome Alyssa!

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 05/09/2021 07:22

Even more babies! Congratulations everyone.

Can I ask, what brand of glucometer have you been given by your diabetes team?

AdventuresAwait · 05/09/2021 11:23

Hi @AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken, mine is Aga Matrix xx

GWhiteley · 05/09/2021 12:21

Mine is aga matrix as well

bewitchingnight · 05/09/2021 12:21

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken mine is a contour next

Scotti84 · 05/09/2021 16:40

Mines also a contour next.

Anyone else find they didn't even touch the post gd snacks? I haven't had much hunger, and just thinking about breaking into the chocolate has not appealed to me at all. On a positive, I've got it for when I'm at home!

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 05/09/2021 18:30

I remember with my first, I had her in the new year and had tons of chocolate for Christmas that I hadn’t been able to face (I was quite overdue and just felt full and fed up all Christmas). I still had most of it by Valentine’s Day and I usually have a major sweet tooth.
Although, most of it was expensive chocolate and I’m a real basic b for chocolate (give me Cadbury’s, Maltesers or Galaxy over Hotel Chocolat every day).
I think it’s something to do with the adrenaline from giving birth though. I also didn’t feel tired the first week of zero sleep.

Neither the loss of appetite for all things sweet nor the mad energy lasted long.

PineappleSun · 05/09/2021 21:22

Glucomen Aero for me

Scotti84 · 06/09/2021 05:14

In my one hour sleep last night i did manage to dream about Starbucks Caramel Macchiatos...

Not sure what that says about me as a person 😅

Bubbles1st · 06/09/2021 06:15

@Scotti84 I certainly didn't eat like I thought I would.

I have a couple of snack size chocolate bars I packed. But in 4 nights in hospital I didn't touch my crisps or fancy chocolate DP brought me.

I did enjoy some croissants and pain au chocolate but more because hospital food was pretty dismal than I wanted the sweetness.

Even now on day 2 of being home all I've really had is a bit of brownie.

I even insisted we had a big salad with our frozen pizza last night. DP is doing all the cooking and so far it's been pasta and pizza.

I heard myself saying last night, we must eat the meat and veg in the fridge thought tomorrow.

I'm a changed woman!

Anyone else surprised by their weight post baby?

I 'only' lost 5kg

I thought it would be more to be honest considering baby was 3kg! So placenta and waters couldn't have weighed much. Bearing in mind I lost of a litre of blood too?!

Maybe I'm retaining water as I have lost another .5kg since coming home.

I am however still 3kg lighter than before pregnancy so not all bad!!

Scotti84 · 06/09/2021 06:45

@Bubbles1st thats a great achievement! Ive not weighed myself yet, going home as soon as the drs been to check Lilly over which if isnt in the next 20 mins will be afternoon 🙄

Sounds familiar with pasta and pizza. What is it with men and Italian food?! I left DH with mac n cheese, a lasagne and some German cheesy noodles and he still hasnt had enough while ive been in.

The brekkies n lunches here are great but every evening its a variation of dark bread and cheese. No dip or sauce or anything, just dry crappy bread n cheese. That, i will not miss!

AdventuresAwait · 06/09/2021 14:47

Wow @Bubbles1st that's amazing! I don't have scales so not sure what I weigh now. Might have to get some as I'm intrigued now! I'm enjoying my food again even though I told myself I'd be super good and continue the GD diet Hmm xx

AdventuresAwait · 06/09/2021 14:47

Hope you and Lilly get home soon @Scotti84 xx

CherLW · 06/09/2021 22:10

I weighed myself a couple of days ago and I lost about 1stone 10lbs at the birth! I was shocked!! I think I had loads of amniotic fluid as they kept saying how it kept coming out 🤮

On a brighter note (only slightly) Jesses cord stump come off today!! 💪🏼

OP posts:
AdventuresAwait · 06/09/2021 22:38

Oh wow @CherLW! And yay about Jesse's cord stump. We were just talking today about when to expect that to happen.

AdventuresAwait · 06/09/2021 22:40

Have those who have given birth been doing pelvic floor exercises? My midwife asked me today and I'd completely forgotten about them!

CherLW · 06/09/2021 23:26

@AdventuresAwait Jesses fell off today and it’s day 10.. I changed his nappy and it was hanging on by a tiny tiny thread and then the next nappy change it had fallen off! The little clip had rubbed at his skin so I’m glad it’s gone.

Are you going to keep it? I wasn’t planning too until it had come off and then I couldn’t face throwing it away.

I’ve been doing my pelvic floors. The midwives I’ve seen are very keen on it and remind me every check up. I’ve been doing mine when driving or when I’m feeding 😊 I’ve been told not to do them stood up and it’s quality over quantity.

OP posts:
AdventuresAwait · 07/09/2021 00:59

@CherLW, yes I might keep it!
I will try and remember to do the pelvic floors regularly. I had just forgotten until they mentioned it at my first contact since coming home from hospital! How are you and Jesse doing? Xx

CherLW · 07/09/2021 08:20

@AdventuresAwait I think now it’s fallen off I want to keep it too 🤦🏻‍♀️
I always feel like I’m not doing the pelvic floors correctly but I just do the best I can.
We’re really good, I can’t believe he’s 11days old today!!
How is Hettie doing? Are you feeling ok?

Xx
