@GWhiteley ooh I hope it all goes well for you too! It's a strange feeling isn't it! I've got a couple of bottles of isotonic drink, my midwife recommended that, some protein bars, some protein shakes incase i dont feel like eating real food but need energy, and a massive bar of Cadbury caramel chocolate for after the birth. They've told me I don't need to test throughout or after the birth, just to book in for a glucose test with my gp 3 months after, I probably will, because I'm interested to know my levels, but I think as far as snacks go throughout, I've just tried to take a range of things that will give me energy through the birth. It's just hard to plan as it looks like it could either take days or be over in a few hours. Do you know how you're being induced? I think they start with tablets here.

Morning ladies, sorry I didn't update yesterday.
To be honest not much went to plan and it was a pretty turbulent day.

From difficulties getting the spinal in to excessive blood loss with me and then baby being fine at birth but then causing concern and being in SCBU by tea time 😭

Once I've got my head around it all and seen him again this morning I will come and update you properly as it's all still a bit of a blur.

We are both ok on the whole and that's what is important and makes it all worth it.

He was born at 12.25pm weighing 7lb 3 oz and we have named him Lorenzo he is gorgeous.

Well I had natural contractions start at 10pm last night & after having trouble with the epidural & then not being able to push because of my scoliosis, I ended up having a spinal tap & needing forceps as she was on her side. But she's here!! We haven't picked a name yet but she was 7lb 2oz when born & we're both tired but fine.

Good luck @AdventuresAwait for today!

Lorenzo is still in SCBU I was medically discharged at 24 hours (which I can't quite believe 🥴) however it was because there was a family room for me so I am on SCBU 24/7 which obviously I appreciate greatly as I know not everyone is as fortunate.

Lorenzo is getting better and stronger in one sense which is great but unfortunately he has ended up with a feeding tube so our next challenge is feeding and getting him self sufficient.
Which means our original 48 hour precautionary stay is going to be extended. Hopefully not beyond 5 days but at present no one can of course predict.

We are so in love though and he is taking it all

Hey @CherLW, I can't believe he's a week old already! We still don't have a name yet but baby is a day old & boy am I in love 😍 she is worth all the crappy food & crying & testing 4 times a day!

What have they said to you about eating & testing etc going forward?

Hi all, wrote a massive post on the september thread so wont repeat all here, but Lilly May Paulsteiner was born yesterday evening after 2 day induction, suction aided delivery in the end, lots of pain and blood and tears but totally worth it.

The little chunky 9lb baby turned out to be 7lb 2, so thats the last time ill worry about guessed weight!

They've checked her blood sugars and shes absolutely fine. Ive been told i dont need to test anymore but i think i will just out of interest. Then in 3 months i need to do another glucose test to make sure its all back to normal.

Hubbys on his way with a caramel macchiato and my cadbury caramel chocolate is waiting to be dunked!

Congratulations @Scotti84 and welcome Lilly! Hope you're recovering ok, sounds pretty dramatic but make sure you enjoy that long awaited cadbury caramel 😁

Ohh @Scotti84 she’s adorable!! That chocolate and hot drink will be amazing! So happy for you!!

@GWhiteley they haven’t said anything to me about testing… just have to book a gp appointment. I can’t even remember them testing mine in hospital after he was born!!

They are definitely worth all the crappy boring foods and the testing aren’t they!

To those ladies who are waiting for their babies and are still testing, stay strong, it’s all worth it and the thoughts of all the testing and boring food pups that be further away from my mind now ❤️

Thanks to all who sent best wishes etc. Yesterday went by so quickly that I didn't get on here to update.

Our baby girl was also born yesterday. C-section went well and she was 7lbs 5oz. We are smitten! Feeding is great, and her blood sugars are fine so no more monitoring for either of us. Yay!
