Hi all, couldn't see an April 2022 birth thread so thought I would start one.
I'm due mid April but need a dating scan to confirm as I have an irregular cycle.

Hi @Aquarius25, welcome and congratulations! Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time - but things seem to improve for a lot of people round about now so fingers crossed it'll be the same for you!

Aquarius25 · 30/10/2021 17:56

hi @BrightSide1987
thanks for welcoming me, yes my midwife said the same thing but I'm 4 months in now and dont feel much different, the night times are always tough aswell getting little to no sleep just want to get to that point where I feel good xx

wannabeamummysobad · 30/10/2021 18:37

@BrightSide1987 @shannonl26 I haven't bought anything. We'll probably wait until Xmas as then will be +24 weeks and hopefully have a better idea of how big baby will be.

Have been thinking though- bulk items eg prams, cots etc. Has anyone bought them already? When will you start on a nursery?

rosiej95 · 31/10/2021 13:06

@SlipperTripper I haven't brought loads but I have brought a few baby grows. I've mainly done a lot of research into the things I would like to get and then when I've had my 20 week scan will buy more ☺️

@wannabeamummysobad Black Friday is coming up so we were going to wait & see if there was any deals then 🤷🏼‍♀️
I think there's wait times for some things tho & I am an planner & over preparer haha (quite ironic considering we want a surprise 💖💙😂) but would rather have everything before the last month & a half & I can then chill & relax for the last time before baby is here 🥰

@Aquarius25 Sorry to hear your having a rough time of it
I struggle at night times but always have pre pregnancy tbh :/
Is it getting comfy your struggling with or just not being able to sleep?

shannonl26 · 04/11/2021 11:34

@Aquarius25 I felt the exact same, it’s only very recently I’ve got some energy back & have stopped being sick. Hold in there, I hope you feel better soon!

@wannabeamummysobad I haven’t bought anything big/solid yet but that’s purely because we should be getting the keys to our new house the end of the month so would rather wait til then! Then I’m going to go crazy on the buying I imagine 😂

I’ve got my gender scan today, but having it put in an envelope ready to do a reveal on Sunday! So exciting. I hope I can stop myself from peeking 😂

I hope your all doing well ladies. Time really does feel like it’s flying.

Epli · 04/11/2021 15:25

16w4day DD 17/04

Waiting impatiently for NIPT results before we tell family (nhs one was low risk but we decided to pay for nipt), but we know it’s a girl :)

Also waiting for shopping until 20 weeks scan but I worked out more or less how much thing will cost and what to buy new and what second hand. I think I will make a list wish for my family as I expect they will want to buy some Christmas gifts for the baby.

shannonl26 · 04/11/2021 17:12

Scan went perfect & they managed to see the gender after what felt like a very long time 😂 roll on Sunday now so I can find out boy or girl.

@Epli hope your results come back soon for you! Exciting times.

Congratulations @shannonl26! So exciting.

Ha, DH and I are in the process of buying a new house so maybe that is helping keep my need to shop at bay. Aaah, I want it to be December already so I can have my scan

Epli · 04/11/2021 20:04

Does anyone know if Black Friday is usually good for baby stuff, especially items like prams?

rosiej95 · 05/11/2021 07:00

@shannonl26 how exiting you will have to update us on Sunday! 🥰

@Epli ive had a look recently cause I wondered the same thing. It seems like quite a few are doing "best ever Black Friday sale" so we're holding out just incase.

Tallulahh3 · 06/11/2021 14:01

We’ve started looking at big ticket items (Im 18+2) such as prams and nursery equipment so we know which items we ideally want and budget etc. I’ve also logged the prices so I can spot what actually is a good deal. Then come Black Friday deals I’ll be pouncing to buy them! I’ve got Black Friday specific in store personal shopping slots booked with Mamas & Papas and John Lewis as you get discounts or gift vouchers back for the big spend up. Im a bit over organised by nature tbh, but I think there might be supply issues as there are waiting lists for some of our preferred items so hopefully this characteristic pays off this time!

Hmumoftw0 · 06/11/2021 19:11

@Epli Definitely! Some really good sales on baby items on black friday, natural baby shower and Winstanley's pram world both have good deals!

We found out last night we are having another boy 👦🏼 so the nub techs were correct 😆

Epli · 06/11/2021 19:20

We got NIPT results yesterday and they confirmed the NHS one - low risk :):):)

rosiej95 · 07/11/2021 08:35

@shannonl26 I bet these last few days have dragged for you!
Happy gender reveal day 🥰💖💙

@Tallulahh3 yes sometimes they can be sneaky and the deal look amazing but actually be over exaggerated!
Hoping to pick up some bargains so have done the same ☺️

@Hmumoftw0 congratulations! 💙

@Epli great news glad all is well 🥰

PartridgeCoop · 07/11/2021 09:37

Hi ladies can I please join you? I've been lurking on the May board so far but found out I'm really April (I was April by LMP and then pushed to May at an early scan and then bay to late April again at 12 weeks so I'm a vagabond!)

I'm 15w5 now and feeling much better! Have any of you had your 16 week appts yet? I just found out that mine is by phone, even though booking in was in person. I'm really disappointed. I thought they'd be taking blood, blood pressure, urine sample and (most importantly for me) checking baby's heartbeat. I don't see how they can really do much with a phone call? Has anyone else had this? Is it a covid thing?

Great to see everyone's scans and to start to see people feeling better 😊

Londoner5s · 07/11/2021 10:12

I was also told my 16 week appointment would be over the phone because of Covid. I told them I was disappointed and it made me anxious and asked if there was any way it could be in person. The midwife said she'd make an exception for me and I'm so glad I made a fuss because I got to hear the baby's heartbeat at the appointment, she also tested my urine and blood pressure but there wasn't very much advice/chatting so if it was over the phone it would have lasted less than 5 minutes and been completely pointless. I would definitely try insisting it's in person, I know times are difficult with Covid but other trusts are doing every single appointment in person so I don't think it's fair for us to miss out.

PartridgeCoop · 07/11/2021 10:39

Thanks @Londoner5s that's super helpful to know. It's tomorrow so I'll ask in the phone appointment if I can come in after the fact for the tests etc. I'm so glad you got to hear the baby's heartbeat!

shannonl26 · 07/11/2021 10:49

@rosiej95 it really has been the longest few days 😂 but the day is finally here! I’ll deffo update you all later 👶🏻 How are you doing?

@PartridgeCoop I had mine last week & it was face time face, I didn’t get to listen to the heartbeat though & tbh they didn’t actually check anything. All it involved was a brief chat about my wellbeing & my screening results. I was very disappointed. Midwife said they don’t start checking baby til 24 weeks? Could just be a wales thing. I have found the whole experience very laid back if I’m honest! I got myself an at home Doppler though to listen to heartbeat & It’s the best thing ever. I check in maybe twice a week, only for around 2/3 minutes at a time. 😊

shannonl26 · 07/11/2021 10:50

@PartridgeCoop face to face, not FaceTime 😂

PartridgeCoop · 07/11/2021 12:07

Thanks @shannonl26 this is my first so had grand ideas about it being very Call the Midwife with regular checkups and reviews with the little ear trumpet thing Grinit's a bit of a return to earth when I realised it's not quite like that. I am tempted by the Doppler but I am a bit OTT and can imagine spending all day with the thing!!

wannabeamummysobad · 07/11/2021 17:31

I'm having my 16 week appointment in person next week. Really hoping I get to hear baby at my appointment.

Question, how are your bumps looking. I definitely have a noticeable bump (at the top under the boob) in sports wear and naked but noticed that the bottom of my bump feels flabby like fat overhang- is this normal? This is pregnancy #1 so really not sure what normal is and never touched friend's /family bumps in a meaningful way.

rosiej95 · 08/11/2021 03:08

@PartridgeCoop I think it's a real shame that there not doing it face to face for you. Hopefully they listen to you & you get to go in :)
@Londoner5s your midwife sounds lovely! So nice she listened to you!

@wannabeamummysobad I had a slight overhang at the beginning but it filled out after a couple of weeks 🥰
I'm part of a due April group on Facebook & it's lovely! people say about there bumps on there & there are such a mixture of big bumps, small bumps 🥰

@shannonl26 hope all went well 🥰 all good here apart from the fact I've gone back to being/feeling sick & being awake at silly o'clock but still loving every part of it in as it's all part of the journey 😂❤️
How are you doing?

shannonl26 · 08/11/2021 08:13

@wannabeamummysobad I have definitely popped! But it does change every day 😂 this is my first too.

@rosiej95 it went amazing! IM HAVING A GIRL 😊💓 honestly over the moon I’m buzzing!! I’m doing well thank you, I was also awake 3am this morning 😂 honestly I dread waking up for a wee cause I know that’s me done for!!

rosiej95 · 08/11/2021 08:17

@shannonl26 congratulations!! 💖💖💖
You thought you might be having a girl! 🥰
So pleased for you!
Haha yes literally am the same 😂

wannabeamummysobad · 08/11/2021 08:18

@rosiej95 please would you share the link to the FB group?

@shannonl26 it's so amazing right? I thought I'd be much later because I've always been fairly sporty but my bump is definitely there. A man at my run club asked me last week if I was pregnant because he couldn't figure out why my belly was growing but I was still seemingly as active as always 🤣.
Told him he's brave for asking because if I weren't I'd have given him what for
