My scan is on Monday! So excited to find out what we're having and to see baby again but also really nervous hoping that everything will be ok. Haven't had a scan in 5 weeks so it feels like I've been waiting forever! Starting to feel a few more wriggles now and @Curlymam88 I had my first nose bleed this morning! Had them all the time in my second pregnancy but none in the others!

Curlymam88 · 29/07/2021 14:09

@burtle4 mine isn't like a runny dripping nose bleed it's more of a snotty bloody nose. Sorry if tmi. And my nose feels bunged up and blocked.

burtle4 · 29/07/2021 14:25

@Curlymam88 mine's the same, tmi but it was all going down the back of my throat rather than dripping out my nose so I had to keep spitting it out, horrid! Last time I had nose bleeds in pregnancy they were huge awful ones that would end in a massive clot coming out so I'm hoping they won't be like that again! Haha, so gross, hope no one's eating 😂

Curlymam88 · 29/07/2021 14:36

@burtle4 oh heck. That sounds bad. Mines nothing like that.

lovebeingmum9 · 29/07/2021 15:11

Hi all I'm 20weeks tomorrow and got my scan on Tuesday....super excited! I will be under consultant care and all appointments will be done over the phone so should hear from them soon to book my induction on my due date! No nose bleeds but occasionally wake up very stuffy/sniffly! I started my Christmas shopping and bought a few little bits for baby and it feels so surreal we will have a newborn over Christmas! Is anyones husbands/partners taking paternity leave if so can ask midwife for forms at next midwife app (after 20wks) This will be 1st time my husbands had it off and will have 2 weeks off over Christmas and new year....Will be lovely! Hope your all well and enjoying your summer hols Smile

LAR96 · 29/07/2021 15:39

can I ask why you are under consultant care? and how come they are booking your induction on your due date at such an early stage? Christmas babies are so exciting! I break up from work on the 10th December :) Due on the 20th, wanted to leave as late ass poss so i get more time with my baby x

lovebeingmum9 · 29/07/2021 16:16

@LAR96 my second born son was induced because he was 13days overdue and I needed an assisted forcep delivery as he had shoulder dystocia (both shoulders got stuck in my pelvis) and he weighed 10lb 3oz 🙂 as you can imagine it was horrific....I felt every cut,tug everything! But luckily he was born healthy 💙 I now request to be induced on due date to prevent having another 10pounder our last son was induced on due date he was born day after at 9lb so had I have gone 13days overdue could have been bigger and more chance of shoulder dystocia. They may just discuss the induction and book in at later date all depends when they are able to book!
Aw yeah very exciting....bet your looking forward to some quality family time over Christmas! I'm due on the 17th so should be induced on that morning and will be our kids last day at school before Christmas break so lots of sibling and family bonding in the few weeks we are all home together ❤

LAR96 · 29/07/2021 16:19

@lovebeingmum9 oh wow that sounds horrific! Its my first and I am tiny, like 5ft2 8 stone haha, I hope my labour is as easy as it can be! I cant imagine myself having a big baby but you never know i suppose! Yes lets make the most of this christmas together xx

lovebeingmum9 · 29/07/2021 16:28

@LAR96 don't mean to scare you hun am sure you will be fine....everyone has their own labour experiences,my first labour was lovely and better than I expected 🙂 my 2nd was horrific but not enough to stop me from having another 3 pregnancies after lol I'm 5ft and weighed 9stone with my 2nd so def wasn't expecting a big baby lol Yes its going to be amazing! x

LAR96 · 29/07/2021 16:30

I always think it cant be that bad if we keep having more! It'll be worth it anyway :) x

lovebeingmum9 · 29/07/2021 16:35

@LAR96 Definitely worth every second! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat as my 2nd born is now 7 and amazing! Its because us woman are made of strong stuff if my hubby had to go through it we would have certainly only had 1 lol 😆

LAR96 · 29/07/2021 16:39

@lovebeingmum9 I can relate!! My partner gets an ulcer and thinks he needs a trip to A&E!!

lovebeingmum9 · 29/07/2021 16:41

@LAR96 Haha 🤣 and the dreaded man flu 🤣

This made me giggle. So true though!!
I've been wondering because I had a section with my daughter she came 15 days early because my growth scans were showing she was growing a bit bigger than she should have (although she was born 7lb6 and very cute and small) I been wondering if I can have a section again this time and when they would book me in for it. Maybe ill hear like @lovebeingmum9 and will hear at 20 weeks?

Curlymam88 · 29/07/2021 16:43

I guess it depends what my growth scans are like this time round though so maybe I won't be booked in yet. Scrap that thought. My mind has been all over the place this week. Deffo baby brain.

lovebeingmum9 · 29/07/2021 16:55

@Curlymam88 haha true isn't it! 🤣
They might be waiting to see how your growth scans are this time before making decision to induce unless your requesting an elective c section or are you hoping for a vbac?
I didn't have any growth scans 2nd pregnancy and the growth scans I had with following 2 pregnancies were both wrong anyway but I'm induced because of the shoulder dystocia aspect....it makes life a bit easier around our other 4 children knowing a date for induction so we can arrange child care for labour etc I've got terrible baby brain too I worry it will never leave me 😅

Curlymam88 · 29/07/2021 16:58

@lovebeingmum9 I think id like another c section. It was so calm and straight forward. I had a bit of pain afterwards but nothing painkillers didn't sort out. I have all my growth scans booked already. I get a scan every month now which I'm pleased about Grin but yes they'll see what the scans are like. I just wasn't thinking before I typed 🤣 yes that's what I'm thinking will be nice to know a definite date when you'll meet baby and to plan. So exciting Smile

tuxedocat · 29/07/2021 17:58

19weeks today and my scan is this time next week when I’ll be smack on 20weeks.

I really didn’t think birth was too bad first time - like you @LAR96 I’m 5ft2 and usually 7.5-8stone. My son was 6lb 12oz and I was literally all baby. It’s a weird kind of pain - i read a hypnobirthing book for breathing and had gas and air. I hope it’s much the same this time around but who knows!
I’ve been working out as much as poss to keep fit as I really feel that helped me in labour and it’s my ‘me’ time but jeeez my back can hurt after.

I’m excited for the scan though - apprehensive to know every thing is ok and to double check that she is a girl!

lovebeingmum9 · 29/07/2021 18:00

@Curlymam88 thats good you get your growth scans already and every month.....I'm thinking when I get the call from consultant thats when they will book in my growth scans, each time is so different and they change ways of doing things etc especially with covid .... hopefully your able to make the choice you want for your labour! 🙂

lovebeingmum9 · 29/07/2021 18:08

@tuxedocat I had no pain relief with my first and could have done it 10x over was a lovely experience! The bit that absolutely amazes me is you feel so much pain and then all of a sudden once baby is born its like the pain turns into adrenaline, relief and happiness! 🙂 I'm on a high for weeks after the birth! Its great your still keeping fit,I'm waiting for my new year resolution lol hubby and I will be getting gym memberships for January! Its nice all of our scans are finally coming round and we are at the half way point! ❤

jade0881 · 29/07/2021 19:51

@lovebeingmum9 oh my that must of been horrific for you. My first child was 6lb1 and my second was 7lb6.. I think baby will slightly bigger this time round. I'm 5ft8 and weigh 11.5st the mo.
Since being pregnant I've put on 2.5st. My usual weight is 9st. So you can just imagine.

Has anyone thought about having a home birth?

OP posts:
lovebeingmum9 · 29/07/2021 21:10

@jade0881 lockdown hasn't helped think alot of people have gained weight and your growing a baby pretty amazing......it will drop off after you give birth! I've heard of some lovely home birth experience but because of my previous labour and being half hour drive from a hospital I wouldn't chance it......I will no doubt enjoy my 3rd epidural again in hospital lol are you considering home birth? pool births have a lovely atmosphere.....I was too comfortable though and had to get out to give birth but it was lovely and relaxing, dimmed lights and music 😁

tuxedocat · 29/07/2021 21:21

@jade0881 a home birth crossed my mind but I think I would feel much safer and prepared at hospital esp as I was induced last time early!

I also read a thread the other day about how second births are so much faster! Did any of you lovely ladies with 2+ have a second faster labour?

jade0881 · 29/07/2021 21:26

Oh I see. Yeah I'm actually thinking about it but then I'm scared to have a home birth just in case. However if we go into lockdown again I would love for my OH to be there but it all depends
