Ladies, I'm wondering if there are any older mums pregnant on here?

I'm 43, 5weeks today. I'm anxious knowing the odds and suffered a miscarriage in November. Would be good to hear from you, might be nice to share experiences and positive vibes

@MATTSMAMMA I’m so sorry to hear what a struggle you’ve been through but happy to hear you have 2 lovely children to spend all your love on.

I so understand the ‘I’m not done’ feeling. I do know how lucky we are to have 4 healthy children and if this one doesn’t work for us I think I will still always feel that we ‘should’ have had one more.

Yes it’s hard to explain really, some people say they know they are ‘done’ and I’ve never felt that. I have this awful sadness but I do have to start accepting it. The miscarriages have left their mark that’s for sure and are a big factor in the way I feel and that’s probably because I’ve never fully dealt with them. I’ve tried to carry on but its caught up with me. I’d advise anyone who has or is experiencing miscarriage at any age to make sure they talk about it and get help/counselling. It affects you in more ways than you think x

Just a quick update from me ladies to say I had my scan today and all is well. 12 wks on the dot as we thought and baby looks healthy and was waving! X

Oh @BooSaidTheGhost I was thinking of you today - that’s wonderful news!!!

burtle4 · 12/10/2021 07:19

@BooSaidTheGhost that's great news, you must be so relieved!
@MATTSMAMMA I agree, no matter how many times it happens, or what stage of pregnancy it was, you have to let yourself grieve because it's a huge loss. Talking about it and realising that there are so many other women who have been through similar definitely helped me. I hope you have the support you need to get through it x

Hey all,
I'm 42 and currently 14 weeks pregnant. It's all been super unexpected but we are, cautiously, optimistic. Nice to know there are some other older mums out there.

Hi @OldHag666! Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the thread 😀

Hi *@OldHag666*! Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the thread 😀
Thank you so much! I actually thought it was possibly perimenopause as I had multiple negative pregnancy test results over my first trimester. I am still in shock, to be honest. Today we had the NIPT blood tests done for chromosomal disorders, pray all will be well. xx

How lovely to find out it’s actually a baby and not perimenopause 🥰 Have you got other children already? Will keep everything crossed the test results come back with low risk (of course they will!) - it’s scary waiting for them though, I’ll keep everything crossed for you! When will you get the results?

whoopsnomore · 12/10/2021 21:50

I'm 55 , DD turns 13 next week.

Thank you so much! I have a son who is almost 11 years old. He's thrilled. My test results will be back in a week, so just need to stay frosty until then. xx

We told my nearly six yo DD last night that she is going to be a big sister at long last. I can't describe to you how wonderful that moment felt, she was absolutely over the moon and this morning wanted to hug my tummy to say good morning to the baby from her and her teddy! I cried but I'm blaming hormones hahaha

Lastyearttc · 13/10/2021 22:24

Hi all, just checking back in as had my dating scan yesterday which they put me at 13+2... waiting now for the screening results... 43 with 1 DD age 6. Can't quite let myself believe this might actually be happening after a mmc last year too (and 2 before dd).

Itaintoveruntilthefatladysings · 14/10/2021 10:08

@OldHag666 - oh how exciting, so lovely to see their excitement over becoming big brothers/sisters 🥰 One week only - yes keep cool, it’ll all be fine!

@BooSaidTheGhost - telling your child these big news really is something special isn’t it! What a lovely moment it must have been and so cute how she’s now wanting to cuddle the bump 🙌 Wait until she will be able to feel the baby kicking - show will LOVE that ❤️

Itaintoveruntilthefatladysings · 14/10/2021 10:10

@Lastyearttc That’s great news, so pleased for you. How are you feeling? Fingers crossed everything will go smoothly for you! X
