Ladies, I'm wondering if there are any older mums pregnant on here?

I'm 43, 5weeks today. I'm anxious knowing the odds and suffered a miscarriage in November. Would be good to hear from you, might be nice to share experiences and positive vibes

@Bdbel How miserable, I'm sorry for your loss. Take it easy

Bdbel · 11/08/2021 19:22

I was asked how I want to make things move along. I have no idea... I feel like I was given too much to deal with at once. I need to take time off to actually miscarry i guess. They offered a few things, I asked for pessaires for Friday but now I'm not sure that's what I want. Thanks everyone xx

@Bdbel I’m so sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourself over the coming weeks x 💐

Cashewcookie · 11/08/2021 20:58

@Bdbel I stopped checking in, but just saw your post by chance. I’m so so sorry to hear this. I know what you’re going through, and I wish you strength. I hope you can take some time to filter your thoughts. Flowers

burtle4 · 11/08/2021 22:28

@Bdbel no words can express how sorry I am, I was really rooting for this to be your time 😔
With regards to how you should manage it, it's a very personal choice but when I was told there was no heartbeat at our 12 week scan, I opted for the d&c. I couldn't cope with the waiting and not knowing when it could happen since they said it had died at around 8 weeks but my body had obviously just not registered. I also didn't feel strong enough to take a pessary and bring it on as I didn't want to see it, so I went to theatre, got knocked out and let them do the job for me. It was very tough waking up and realising that it was gone, but at the same time a relief to know it was all over. Like I said, a very personal choice but that was my experience for what it's worth. Take care of yourself x

Thank you ladies you are all so kind especially when you've been through this too.

@Cashewcookie ❤️ i am so sorry for you also, I hope you're ok. It was so kind of you to message after all you've been through

@burtle4 thank you. I really appreciate your honestly. I have asked to have a procedure. I'm going in tomorrow but I've been told I'll be awake, not sure if I can do it but I'll try xx

@Bdbel so glad you've managed to make a decision that feels right for you. Not sure if I had the option of being awake but I guess they're suggesting whatever is best for your situation. Good luck I hope it goes the best it can and look after yourself afterwards, it's a very emotional time x

burtle4 · 12/08/2021 14:34

@spinduffy wow, congratulations! You must be over the moon, I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months x

@Bdbel so so sorry

Sending you lots of love xxxxxx

This can be so very cruel and sadly many of us have been there too xxxx

fuzzypeach1 · 14/08/2021 19:40

I'm so sorry for your losses ladies. It's so devastating. I've suffered a few losses over the past 4 years including 2 MMC. I remember a midwife saying to me that getting pregnant and staying pregnant when you are older can be a tough heartbreaking time and not for the faint hearted but it is not impossible.

After a tough 4 years I am finally 17 weeks pregnant at 42. I am in shock that I've made it this far and totally freaked out tbh. Don't dare tell anyone yet. Nice to meet some fellow ladies of a similar age! I feel like I'm literally carrying a miracle.

Lastyearttc · 15/08/2021 22:52

Just joining too as got a bfp yesterday. 43, latest mc 12mths ago... it's going to be a long road!

freshflowers2 · 16/08/2021 20:05

Hi, joining too. I'm 43 and now 9+4 weeks pregnant.

It's the first time in my life I've had a 'natural' positive pregnancy test (have one DC via many tens of thousands of £ spent on ivf!). We had been told by the clinic there was now a very slim chance of success with ivf using my own eggs, so resigned myself to an only child. Then this happened.

Like all of you, I'm incredibly anxious. Have had a couple of scans so far and things look ok. But every day a MMC is on my mind and can't help spending hours on google. Really sorry for the losses experienced on this thread.

burtle4 · 16/08/2021 22:47

Welcome @fuzzypeach1 @Lastyearttc and @freshflowers2 and congratulations! I found that being older and realising how lucky I was to even get pregnant after 2 years ttc does make it feel like a really long road but I'm definitely finding it speeds up the further into the pregnancy I get. 22 weeks now and just starting to feel regular movements which is so reassuring. Good luck with all your pregnancies x

Oogah · 05/09/2021 15:20

Hi ladies,

How are we all doing?

I had my 20 week scan 10 days ago and was told I have a low lying placenta so fingers crossed it moves before my next scan at 32 weeks

Morning sickness finally stopped at 17 weeks but still can't face a cup of tea

burtle4 · 05/09/2021 21:19

Just turned 25 weeks and also found I had a low lying placenta at my 20 week scan! They booked me in to double check it at 23 weeks though as they were concerned that some of it might be covering the placenta, but thankfully it isn't. I have another scan at 34 weeks to check it again before birth.
Have also gone off tea which I find really strange as I used to love it!

Lola008 · 06/09/2021 08:05

Hi ladies
I’m 45 and I’ve had random periods for a while , my symptoms are random but I’m quietly confident that this is it , have your symptoms been all over the place ?
I feel slightly nauseous, have awful backache , headaches , razor blade nipples and a tsunami vagina lol also the most awful taste in my mouth , Could this be it ? Or is this the dreaded M word , I’m so scared to get a test as I feel like I am but know il be heartbroken if the test says nope , any words of wisdom ladies x

Lola008 · 07/09/2021 07:28

Hey again , did a test yesterday and it was a positive , a bit faint but still positive , did one this morning and negative , kinda freaking out , maybe it was too concentrated? I’m going to get a pink dye one Today and test again later , is it better to test in morn or afternoon /evening ?
Thanks ladies x

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 07/09/2021 15:15

37 pregnant with my first. 29 weeks tomorrow :D

Oogah · 07/09/2021 15:35

Hi I think if they say you should test in the morning for the best results.
Fingers crossed let us know how you get on

burtle4 · 07/09/2021 15:49

@Lola008 congratulations! They say a line is a line so it must be true! Not sure why it wouldn't show up positive this morning, maybe get a first response and try again tomorrow? Good luck and let us know! Have you been trying long?

I've just been told that because I'm 40 they'll want to induce me sometime in week 39-40, if I haven't gone into labour naturally before. I don't particularly want to be induced but don't mind not being allowed over as it means that baby should at least arrive before Christmas 😂 has anyone else been told they'll have to be induced?

Lola008 · 08/09/2021 11:14

I’m not sure what to think I’ve done 2 blue tests and came up positives but faint and 2 pink which are even more fainter , feel awful , metallic taste continually , don’t want to eat anything just don’t fancy anything , tea tastes weird and my pee is orange so I’m not hydrated enough , nipples are so sore and backache is awful and I’m so tired and have a feeling of fullness , think I’ll feel better when I get the two dark lines , my last period was 23rd July but have no clue when I ovulated but I did have some spotting on aug 10th , think I need to try and stop obsessing ? And retest in a few days , no way can I go another week without testing lol.
Any advice ladies please x

burtle4 · 08/09/2021 11:40

It sounds like you definitely are pregnant if you're getting lines, maybe go to the doctor for a blood test? Only way to know for sure, plus they'll need to find out how far along you are...
