Ladies, I'm wondering if there are any older mums pregnant on here?

I'm 43, 5weeks today. I'm anxious knowing the odds and suffered a miscarriage in November. Would be good to hear from you, might be nice to share experiences and positive vibes

@Bdbel great news for you, I’m glad you’ve been reassured; a little heartbeat hey? Amazing. Just amazing

Room4onemore · 28/07/2021 21:19

I had my 20 week scan, all is good with baby, and it’s a girl

burtle4 · 28/07/2021 22:53

@Cashewcookie I'm so sorry you're having to go through this, it's just awful. No words anyone can say will make you feel any better, I hope you manage to get some rest tonight. Let us know how the scan goes in the morning Flowers

burtle4 · 28/07/2021 22:59

@Bdbel fantastic news that there was a heartbeat, that's a massive hurdle to get over! Now just try and stay positive and keep in your head that things will be ok!

@Room4onemore congratulations on your little girl! Lovely news, I'm looking forward to finding out what we're having on Monday but more than anything I just want the scan to be ok as I see this scan is the next big hurdle 🤞

Cashewcookie · 29/07/2021 14:59

Thank you so much @Sunbird24 and @burtle4, unfortunately it’s a confirmed miscarriage this morning. Very sad, but I guess it must be for good reason.

@Bdbel so pleased for you, and hoping your tiny heartbeat gets stronger and stronger.

Room4onemore · 29/07/2021 15:36

Thinking about you @Cashewcookie

burtle4 · 29/07/2021 17:08

I'm so sorry @Cashewcookie x

Sunbird24 · 29/07/2021 17:12

You’re probably right @Cashewcookie, but that doesn’t make it any less upsetting for you. I hope it passes painlessly for you, and you can give yourself some recovery time before trying again. Wine Daffodil

@Room4onemore lovely to hear that your scan went well. I can’t wait to find out the gender of mine Smile, all being well.

hattmancockk · 30/07/2021 17:19

Just checking in, I'm 41 and 27 weeks with baby number 5...feel like a baby still. Or I did I too I was pregnant Grin

Sunbird24 · 02/08/2021 12:55

Hope everyone’s doing ok? I’m 6+5 today and getting nausea but no actual sickness, and exhausted but not sleeping properly which doesn’t help…

Bdbel · 03/08/2021 18:39

@Sunbird24 hey how are you? I'm 7w2 and yesterday I was unbelievably tired! Like I could have slept all day!

I started a new job three weeks ago and found I was pregnant the night before my first day! I feel like I have a lot to prove but seriously lacking motivation! Has anyone else started a new job and got pregnant early? Really worries about what they will say!

@Sunbird24 I’m 8+3 today and yeah I’m getting stronger feelings of nausea 🤢 mine started with just a mild queasiness around week 6 but it’s more noticeable now. Is the poor sleep associated with your pregnancy? Or outside factors?

@Bdbel I haven’t started a new job, (been with employer for 10 years)but I did interview for a management role in May, and was successful. I told my manager and one person in HR on Monday, just because I work in social care and there are quite a few risks in that at the moment.

I had a look at the Maternity Action site and it is pretty clear that pregnancy is a protected domain. Employers just have to get on with it! I had that worry when I was due to tell my manager, but they were fine Smile

Sunbird24 · 04/08/2021 15:56

@NopeNotTodaySucca I think it’s mostly just because it’s a bit too warm for me - I’m on the third floor of a concrete building with quite big windows, so curtains closed and windows open as much as possible! Not looking forward to the next predicted heatwave! Have you found anything that helps with the nausea? I’ve been eating rosemary & sea salt ryvita thins with the salt crystals picked off!

NopeNotTodaySucca · 07/08/2021 12:56

@Sunbird24 hmmm I’ve not really found anything that’s a standout help for my nausea, other than eating smaller portions but more frequently. Drinking water/herbal teas to keep hydrated when I’m not keen on food.

Onehotmess · 07/08/2021 15:14

I’m 39, 16 wks and honestly I feel like crap! My other pregnancies I was 29 & 32 so I don’t know if it’s age related or not! I’m exhausted & nauseous constantly! Still just pleased to be pregnant as you get told how old you are alot when approaching 40 and pregnant!

Congratulations 🥳 I'm afraid I can't comment as this is my first. But I am tired too x

Hello all, I'm 38 and 8+4 with my second pregnancy after a mc last year. I'm struggling with nausea too now, it comes and goes throughout the day but also hits at night which I find worse, as I can't distract myself as easily like I can do in the daytime. I find drinking water helps a bit as I really can't stomach food at 3am, and I feel less sick if I lie on my side and not my back (probably good practice anyway I suppose!). For the daytime nausea, randomly I've found cherry tomatoes quite useful, they're not filling (I overstuffed myself with ginger biscuits at first but am fed up of them now!) and I keep them in the fridge so they're nice and cold which seems to help too. They work nicely alongside Ryvita too @Sunbird24!
And I'm with you all on the fatigue as well, so sleeeepy! I'm waking up loads during the night and also having very vivid dreams which doesn't make me feel rested.

Sunbird24 · 09/08/2021 18:41

Ooh, not tried cherry tomatoes @PaperFleur, thank you!

burtle4 · 09/08/2021 22:57

Hello ladies, glad all pregnancies are still going well but sorry to hear about the nausea/exhaustion (although both really good signs!) Thankfully mine ended at around 12 weeks but I know what you mean @Onehotmess, I was 30 and 32 with my previous pregnancies and have just turned 40 with this one and I feel like the exhaustion especially really wiped me out this time. Am feeling better now but still find I get out of breath so easily and sometimes have to just stop what I'm doing and rest for a moment before I can carry on!
Had my 20 week scan last week and so pleased to see everything is great with baby and we're having a boy! I do have to go back for a scan in two weeks though as they're worried that my placenta may be covering part of my cervix which would mean a c-section. Not sure how I feel about that but just relieved that everything is healthy with baby 💙

Sunbird24 · 10/08/2021 05:09

Congratulations on your little boy @burtle4, halfway there now then! Glad to hear the nausea and fatigue settle after 12 weeks.

Bdbel · 11/08/2021 17:48

Hi ladies, just had a scan at EPU and there was no heartbeat. Going by dates it stop a couple of days ago. Third is carriage now, feels so cruel. I'm sorry to stop by with sad news... I wanted to let you know and also wish you all the best with your pregnancies xx
