Morning all, my scan letters just came through. I didn’t know they sent both letters at once. The second one happens to be on my birthday. Eeeek starting to feel real now.

Noodella18 · 08/06/2021 10:08

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 sorry to hear about the spotting, it's great that your gp is being so proactive about it - from what I've read it's totally normal to spot in the first trimester and they are just being cautious. Fingers crossed for this afternoon, let us know how you're doing xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/06/2021 10:27

Thanks @Noodella18 how're you doing? Is your cold better?

Noodella18 · 08/06/2021 10:35

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thanks for asking, I'm still feel really poorly unfortunately. We're back home now but my tonsils are killing me and I just don't feel quite right. Partner is GP and says it's not bacterial tonsillitis so I'm just dosing up on paracetamol and having a sofa day while the toddler crawls all over me! Slightly fretting about that bleed I had on period due date and the day after. Tests are getting darker and temps are up but can't help but worry that something is wrong. It was quite a lot of blood :/

Tiredandobsessed · 08/06/2021 11:01

Thank you @M4v3r1ck 🥰
I've filled in the self referral form for the midwife yesterday so just waiting for them to call me now. I've read on other threads that the reassurance is only temporary with the early scans but I know I need one, surely it's better to have a little relief from the otherwise constant worry until the 12 week scan.
Hope everyone is well today x

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/06/2021 11:16

@Noodella18 poor you feeling so poorly, that's really not fun. Handy to have a GP on standby 🤪

What does your husband suggest about your bleed? Your tests are strong, but I get it, everything seems to be a worry with pregnancy. If you're concerned maybe call and ask. I was fully expecting them to think I was massively overreacting, but it's the earliest GP callback I've ever had, and within ten mins she's booked me into EPU

Noodella18 · 08/06/2021 11:33

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm really pleased they took you seriously, especially with your history. Hopefully you feel in safe hands and get some reassurance this afternoon. It's kind of weird having a gp as a partner because it means that minor things get dismissed! So for example maybe you spoke to your partner about the spotting and he said 'hmm yeah, maybe call the doctor.' If I tell my partner, his frame of reference is science and medicine so he's like 'that's normal, see what happens'. But because it's not a professional setting where he has to worry about litigation he perhaps is a bit more dismissive. So if somebody came to him while he was working, it would be risky for him just to dismiss it, but I won't sue him so he can just tell me what he actually thinks. Do you get what i mean? He's not being brutal, he's just working with the guidelines. I often have to remind him to be my partner, not my gp, but it doesn't always work out like that.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/06/2021 11:51

@Noodella18 I kind of understand where he's coming from, because realistically at this stage what can EPU even do? It's too early for a scan etc I would have thought. I was surprised, I think I was expecting GP to tell me it's normal, or tell me to take a stool softener and what one (🙈), or to rest for a couple days etc. So his approach is probably right. However as a GP I guess he's seen it all before, and so it might come across a bit dismissive or superior sometimes. My partner can sound like that though and he's not a GP! 😂

Noodella18 · 08/06/2021 12:08

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 just to clarify, I think you did totally the right thing in telling the doctor and I think it's right that you've been referred! From what I understand they might be able to do a scan to see if your uterus is thickening, even if they can't see much else. Anyway, you'll be in the system at least.

TTCat39 · 08/06/2021 13:23

Just popped on to say you're all amazing, because that's the sort of thing I need to hear at the moment so wanted to cheer you all on too!

Having a shit time with work - just ott stressful and feel like I'm failing because I'm just so knackered! Making lots of lists, having open and frank conversations and just generally trying to be brave and get through it (then collapsing on the sofa at the end of the day with more than a tear or two).

Just had a quick read through your updates and I'm rooting for every one of us - we've such a lot going on with our bodies, and have to keep going with everything else that life throws at us too. It's hard!

ImpatientTTCer · 08/06/2021 13:24

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 good luck for this afternoon! I’m sure it’s just a precaution to send you to the EPU; I hope they put your mind at ease and can shed some light on the spotting xxx

M4v3r1ck · 08/06/2021 14:02

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 good luck at the EPU this afternoon! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I'm glad they take these things seriously and just make sure everything is ok!

@Noodella18 hope you feel better soon! 😘 Given the timing, it sounds like implantation bleeding? 🤞🏻

@Tiredandobsessed hope you hear soon! 😃 yes, all being well (🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻), I'll probably still fret before 12-week scan, but it might offer some relief!

@TTCat39 aww hen, sending you so much love! 😘 It's tough when work is being crappy! I'm working from home, so the temptation to just shut off and watch Netflix is great!!!!

Noodella18 · 08/06/2021 14:47

@M4v3r1ck thank you I hope it was just implantation bleeding, but it was bright red and there was quite a bit of it, and there were a few small clots in it the next morning. It was certainly enough to make me think it was my period starting, but stopped abruptly and haven't had it since. Tests are darker though, and digital weeks test I did yesterday came up 2-3 , which is right as I would be 5 weeks on Thursday.

How are you getting on? You must be about 7 weeks now?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/06/2021 15:03

@TTCat39 sorry you're having a crappy time at work! Hope it gets better soon.

@Noodella18 a 2-3 is good! I don't know, my friend has what she thought was a proper period with her 2nd, and she's in her 3rd trimester now. Your tests are really progressing though so sounds like implantation bleeding

Thanks everyone for lovely wishes

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/06/2021 17:17

Well I had a weird one at the EPU and not sure what to make of it. She couldn't see anything on a scan, so thought my levels might be too low as you can normally see a sac at hcg of 1000 apparently. My hcg is 1471 however. My lining is thickened, a little blood in there, but not too much. She kept talking about ectopics and symptoms to watch out for, but at those levels she said she would expect to see it in the tubes.

So I'm not sure. I have to go back in two days for another scan. Does anyone know anything about this?

Noodella18 · 08/06/2021 18:46

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 oh I'm sorry it wasn't just concrete good news for you, I was keeping my fingers crossed. Sounds promising that it wasn't in your tubes though, so perhaps it's just a bit too early to see at the moment - after all, things do develop at different rates. Was it an internal scan? Did she give any more explanation as to what might be going on? I can imagine you're feeling a bit anxious at the moment, sending a hug and hoping the next couple of days go quickly.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/06/2021 19:06

@Noodella18 she said 19 dpo would be very early to see anything in a scan. But she has to scan for ectopics because sometimes you can see them.

Possibly could be an ectopic, a normal pregnancy, a miscarriage, or she said possibly twins with the high hcg but nothing visible. So basically it could be anything! 🤪

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/06/2021 19:08

@Noodella18 how're you feeling? Will you go and get a blood test to see, or wait a bit? She said what you'd said before, bleeding is very common in early pregnancy and often not a sign anything is wrong

M4v3r1ck · 08/06/2021 21:08

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm sorry it's not clear cut news, but good that HCG is high and some thickening! Hopefully you get clearer news soon! Hope you're ok though - these things are never easy, all the waiting and wondering! Sending you much love! 😘

@Noodella18 our bodies are so confusing aren't they! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Good news on the digital tests though! When do you think you'll phone midwife?

I find the pregnancy dating so confusing - I'm halfway through week 9, all being well and based on last period! 🤞🏻 Decided to bite the bullet and have booked an early private scan for this Saturday! 🤞🏻

@M4v3r1ck thank you. I think we're all just waiting for proof on a scan, and it's very exciting you've booked yours!

lennyunexpected · 08/06/2021 21:46

It's the waiting that's the worst, isn't it?. My mum said that in her day, she had to wait ages and go and get the results from the doctor. I can't help wondering if I'd sort of prefer that. I found out super early and it's been the longest 7 weeks of my life 🥴

@M4v3r1ck exciting news about the scan! X

You all seem very clued up talking about womb thickening and hcg levels and stuff - have you all been trying for long? X

RCF2503x · 08/06/2021 22:05

Thanks @M4v3r1ck :) Wishing you all the best for Saturday. How far along are you? I'm considering booking a reassurance scan too. Just waiting for my booking in appointment and will make a decision. I usually do a run or a home cardio workout. Only 2-3 times a week though, not mega consistent. I tried to modify a home workout at the weekend but was barely worth me doing it. Not big on swimming but I'd love to get into yoga!

@lennyunexpected I'm the same, my energy levels have definitely dropped since finding out! I think I will try and get some nice long walks in after work. Might join a step challenge on strava to get me motivated!

Hi @Queenie6655. Sorry you haven't been feeling too good. Hope you are ok after your falls. I am sure I have read its ok to fly but I'd get some advice from your Dr and midwife.

@Tiredandobsessed welcome and congratulations. I feel the same, i'm nearly 5weeks and not a great deal in the way of symptoms. Keep looking at tests to check its real! That will be lovely telling your parents on Fathers Day

RCF2503x · 08/06/2021 22:18

Sorry I have somehow missed all this afternoons posts!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7.Wishing you all the best for your scan in a couple of days.

Sending everyone lots of hugs and best wishes to everyone! xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 09/06/2021 08:58

@lennyunexpected just from previous experience at the EPU and a frantic google of my notes yesterday after the appointment because most of it was new to me!

@RCF2503x thank you!

Hope everyone's doing well and not feeling too crappy!

MgW1 · 09/06/2021 18:43

Hi
How is everyone doing? Iv had stabbing pain in my groin on one side and contacted G.P who did not seem too concerned but i am anxious wreck after 3 mc's. From what I have read it sounds like round ligament pain. Hope everyone ok xx
