Good luck with scans ladies!

I had a call back from midwife to book me in for my booking appointment but she just said we’ll call you and I wasn’t actually given a date!.. did get a letter through for my 12 week scan though!!

vmfwh · 28/06/2021 14:55

Has anyone had any bleeding in the 5th week? Light, almost spotting like, brown in colour, not red, and no clots? I'm beside myself with worry.

I had my scan on Saturday and the doctor confirmed there is a sac and yolk and everything looked healthy but at 5 weeks it was still too early to expect a fetal pole.

Today whilst out running errands, I suddenly felt mild cramping and saw that I was bleeding. Rushed to the nearest hospital and they found that the sac and yolk is still there and upon physical examination my cervical os is still closed but the bleeding continues. They could not tell me why I am bleeding, just that I hadn't miscarried as yet and that it could be due to various factors. They just sent me home and told me to rest.

Has anyone else had this at all?

Sleepyquest · 28/06/2021 14:58

@ReignsMummyX @Trinacham yes I self referred about 3 weeks ago, they were meant to call last week and didn't so said they'd call early this week but considering it's 7 days late now, I don't know when to call again! Just frustrating Sad

overtherainbo · 28/06/2021 15:37

@vmfwh could you have a haemorrhage? I've just been told I have one. Depending on the size depends on the outcome. They should have told you if you do, I have been told to rest up. Hoping it will absorb. The worst thing is for it to get bigger. It looks like a second sac around your sac. I also have cramping and I have been told that I may spot. I've been told if there is a gush to call EPAU

Just had my scan at 7w1d and the baby was measuring perfectly.

Good news after a miscarriage last time.

vmfwh · 28/06/2021 15:50

@overtherainbo I had the exact same thing you currently have but with my last pregnancy - mine was called a subchorionic haemorrage. Is that what you have? This time around though, no, there is no internal bleeding which has left me really confused as to where this blood is from!

Don't worry at all though, I went on to deliver a very healthy baby despite the haemorrage. In most cases the blood is internally absorbed but you can expect spotting or light bleeding. Once all the blood is gone, they will then have to monitor you to make sure the sac is securely attached to your uterus. I was given progesterone injections every week during the haemorrage to prevent a miscarriage. Did they not advise you to take these? Yes, a gush is a bad sign for sure! Hoping neither of us gets to that stage though!!

Hope2022 · 28/06/2021 16:01

@teninone amazing news!!

overtherainbo · 28/06/2021 16:05

@vmfwh yes they said that is what it is commonly known as. I haven't been offered any sort of medication or advice. It was a private scan, they basically said here is the size and we will look next time you come back. I contacted my midwife to let her know and she said thanks for telling me, see you at your booking appointment. I'm a nervous wreck. I've researched it and I'm now resting (although I still have a school run to do). I just keep thinking my worrying will make it worse too🤢

teninone · 28/06/2021 16:33

This is so good for nausea

@overtherainbo I had a little spotting and a private scan said I had the same, but that it's likely get reabsorbed. I wasn't offered anything else either, just told to rest up and avoid sex, over-activity etc. I asked if it was an issue and she said not at all, she sees it often and it's only a problem if it's where the placenta is attached (I think). Mine was to the side of it so she felt okay

vmfwh · 28/06/2021 16:42

@overtherainbo I know exactly how you feel but please don't worry because google just makes you feel worse! My research indicated that I was having a miscarriage but the scan showed the sac and yolk are still present despite the bleeding...

It is so easy for the medical staff to say: take it easy, don't lift anything heavy, don't exert yourself...I have a 1 year old who crawls around and gets his hands into everything and wants to be carried all the time. How am I supposed to manage any rest with him around Grin I need to find a way though or the bleeding might get worse!

overtherainbo · 28/06/2021 16:52

@vmfwh @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7

Thank you for your replies, I've noticed that google makes it sound like it's all coming to a end. I just need to take a breath and wait for the next scan. It's the wait that makes it worse, every time😓

rz2022 · 28/06/2021 18:03

I just got an appointment for next Tuesday for a dating scan from the hospital. They said my doctor referred me! I'm so nervous.. praying everything will be ok. Of my doctor hadn't referred me I wouldn't have got an appointment for another month. I'm 8 weeks 5 days according to LMP but think I'm 6 weeks 5 days

Skybooks · 28/06/2021 19:40

7+1 today, have been really nauseous and bloated and barely eating in the evening until today. I've just found some cake after my dinner.

I've got sharp pains low down on my right side so panicking a little bit.

I'm planning an early scan at 10 weeks (Previous MMC baby stopped at 9.5 but only found out at 12 week scan so need some reassurance), but not sure if I can wait that long but I dont want to do 2 early scans.

CNMP · 28/06/2021 19:45

I’ve just had my early scan - heart beat strong and everything looks well! I can breathe a sigh of relief knowing there is actually something there that’s beating away!

Going to try desperately now to curb the tests and remain positive! Who knew that after a 6week scan with a heartbeat detected that the percentage of miscarriage dropped to 10%!?

teninone · 28/06/2021 19:50

All those stats are great at population level but mean nothing on an individual basis

glasspaw · 28/06/2021 20:09

@Neom87 comes and goes throughout the day really. Initially it was mainly in the evenings after I ate dinner. I actually thought it was something I’d eaten but then it happened a few days in a row. I’ve had to reduce my portions but eat more regularly to stop it from being so bad. As the weeks have gone on it’s now shifted to the morning.

Trinacham · 28/06/2021 20:14

I get what you're saying but I guess if it helps ease the minds of some people then it can't be a bad thing. It certainly helps me to look at the stats every day. Of course you could be that unlucky individual but that doesn't help anyone to thinking like thatSmilex
Neom87 · 28/06/2021 20:39

Thanks @glasspaw and @Rmw99, just trying to get a bit of an insight, i have emetophobia (fear of being sick) 😕

@CNMP I like that stat! I want to get to 6 weeks, which is when I miscarried last time and then I will ring the midwife (which I have been outing off) and also get an early scan booked in for around 8 weeks, i think I could relax a bit after that. I did do an IC this morning and the line was so dark, my lines never got anywhere near last time, so I'm hoping things are moving in the right direction 🤞

CNizzle · 28/06/2021 22:20

Anyone else got no symptoms/so little symptoms you feel like you're making them up?
I've been having mild cramping off an on, but apart from.that, very little I was a bit nauseous for 10 mins or so this afternoon, and a few odd occasions last week, it's making me feel very anxious.
6weeks today.

ReignsMummyX · 28/06/2021 22:53

@CNizzle I'm exactly the same! Slightly sore boobs and a bit of nausea when hungry I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and driving myself mad feeling like I'm making it all up.
Your not alone Smile

stellaglamski · 28/06/2021 23:04

@ReignsMummyX @CNizzle I'm with you both on this. 6wks today according to lmp. Boobs were super sensitive last week but feel like it's tailed off. No real nausea yet either although I was sick as dog with my other 2 daughters pregnancies but trying to stay hopeful that it's just too early or a different pregnancy. Had a mc back in March which was lots of spotting. Now spotting this time though but quite a bit of cramping and lower back pain. Just keeping everything crossed for heartbeat at early scan next weds. The wait is horrible though. I'm struggling to pass the time.

stellaglamski · 28/06/2021 23:06

No spotting this time I meant Confused

CNizzle · 28/06/2021 23:06

@ReignsMummyX the lack of symptoms is scary isn't it?! Thinking of booking an early scan at 8 weeks, I'll be going down to stay with my mum for a few days after that, and it might be nice to have something more definite by then. 🤞

CNizzle · 28/06/2021 23:08

@stellaglamski so confusing isn't it.
The nearest to nausea I've got is sick with worry.
