Hi ladies, I just found out I'm pregnant 4 weeks 1 day just seeing if there's any other newly pregnant who are as excited, terrified, elated, and shocked as I am 😂🤰🏻💕 Due Jan 30th 2022 🤞🤞🤞

Ah mine are loose in a plastic pot from Amazon!

thecapitalsunited · 16/07/2021 13:12

@Tangfastic91 5mg folic acid is a prescription only medication, isn’t it? At least what the doctor said when I asked if I should be on it before I conceived.

Anyway, my midwife has recommended I take it up to birth which given I’m still taking the pregnancy multivitamin and have now added two baby aspirin a day I might as well. At least I don’t have to pay for them now!

Tangfastic91 · 16/07/2021 13:38

I'm only taking the regular 400mcg. That will be why we have different instructions then hah!

sociallydistained · 16/07/2021 14:06

I’m taking pregnacare and will just take it all the way through.

I’ve told work and a few close friends in the last day. It’s been quite emotional but lovely reactions. … I just found out someone I hugged has been sent home to isolate as a close contact of someone at work though so I’m worried now 😩😩

thecapitalsunited · 16/07/2021 14:07

Mad then that my pills which are 12.5 times stronger only need a sip of water 😂

expectinglittlebear · 16/07/2021 14:25

Have any of you bought any baby bits yet or are you waiting until a certain point?

I haven't personally, but keep finding myself wondering over to the baby aisle in EVERY shop I go into Grin. My mum has started knitting a little jumper and baby blanket I believe, but it is her first GC so she can't wait either haha!

thecapitalsunited · 16/07/2021 14:37

I think I’m going to wait until after the 20 week scan to buy anything. I want to crochet a baby blanket but I’ve done the same pattern before in a few weeks so can wait a little longer before I begin. I certainly don’t want to sit with a blanket on my lap in this weather anyway!

EsseKey · 16/07/2021 14:45

I have just been taking a vitamin pill, sometimes even with no water at all or just a sip!?! maybe I have also done it wrong aahahah

EsseKey · 16/07/2021 15:23

Haven't bought anything for the baby yet, except for a baby t-shirt that I used to announce the pregnancy to my partner!

I have been a bit "allergic" to that since I became obsessed with baby stuff during my first pregnancy, and then lost the baby. I am sure it will change in time! :)

sociallydistained · 16/07/2021 15:31

I have bought a cloth nappy (cute design) and we’re getting a baby grow we like for the announcement but that’s it. Has anyone whose doing one, decided when they’ll do the big post on social media? I’ve been off social media for 7 months but I also just want to do a blanket announcement when everyone close to me is told just to make it easier and out there? It’ll be a shock me coming back let alone with this news. I just don’t know if it’s too soon to do it before 20’week scan? I think by then it’ll be old news as I’m telling people I see regularly this week and next.

expectinglittlebear · 16/07/2021 15:34

@sociallydistained I am waiting until after the 12 week scan and after the results are back from the downs etc screening tests. Once I know baby is okay and no further NIPT tests or anything are needed, I will be doing the 'facebook announcement'. I culled my social media down quite recently anyway, so I only really have family, friends and people I actually talk to on there anyway!

Tangfastic91 · 16/07/2021 15:48

Won't buy anything (beyond necessities like mat wear and a bigger bra ha!) Until the 20 week scan. And then I'll probably go nuts, however, from an eco perspective I am keen to buy second hand and sell on for a lot of things. Want to keep plastic tat to a minimum too, so will do wooden toys mostly (not that it's an issue for a while). Joining the library for books too!

EsseKey · 16/07/2021 15:53

I haven't posted much on social media in a long time, but I don't feel like doing a big announcement. If it happens that I have a nice picture that I want to post where I am visibly pregnant (so not earlier than 5-6 months pregnant I guess), that will do. By that time everyone that I want to tell in person will know already!

Tangfastic91 · 16/07/2021 16:04

Actually I bought an NCT course, does that count?! Heard they book up quickly and wanted the local group (in the hopes of meeting mum friends) . Plus with Xmas being sort of in the way I just decided to book super early.

BobbleWobble1 · 17/07/2021 19:31

Hello! Hope it's ok to join here? 14+3 with number 2. Have a little boy who will be 3 in November.

Jonesy88 · 17/07/2021 19:57

Hi all, just caught up on the thread after a week in the sun (well shade but it’s the thought that counts). Exciting times for all those having a scans!

My scan still needs to be booked in as the midwife couldn’t get me in for the bloods etc until this weds and apparently they need those first. I’ll be 12 weeks at the midwife appointment so that’s ran late (despite phoning at 6 weeks) but I’m hoping the scan will quickly follow. I’m waiting on the “official scan” to tell people although we’ve had reassurance scans.

spttc · 17/07/2021 20:40

I told my best friend yesterday. She lives abroad & was home and I won't see her again until sept! I was going to tell more people but decided last minute to hold off. I just don't feel ready! I think 16 weeks is the magic number for me. We shall see! But she screamed and cried a lot 😂 it was a good reaction!

I’ve told all my “main” people now. Some big reactions it’s been emotional! I will tell friends I see regularly as I see them then maybe Announcement next week. We haven’t got results back from 12 week scan bloods yet so I do worry I jumped the gun with excitement but just hope bub keeps growing well.

We’re in London this weekend and I’ve been impressed with my energy 😂 I am back when I’m 8 months though for a show and I’m pretty terrified about that prospect tbh!

Loll84 · 18/07/2021 20:05

@spttc and @sociallydistained congratulations on sharing news. We are 14 weeks and told some family today - they were super excited. Was strange to share out loud! X

Alle1991 · 18/07/2021 20:34

We shared our news with close family this weekend, it was so amazing to see their reactions. For anyone that haven’t shared their news be prepared for a lot of questions haha.

I’m still finding it really awkward saying I’m pregnant and actually talking about it to people

midnight90 · 18/07/2021 20:43

Hey congratulations I'm trying for a baby soon. Just wanted to ask what did you do next once you found out you were pregnant. Sorry for the stupid question but this will be my first. ☺️

Loll84 · 18/07/2021 20:45

@Alle1991 yes had a lot of questions lol! I felt very nervous about saying, almost thought I might not be able to at one point! Hmm

sociallydistained · 18/07/2021 21:37

Ive just had to explain a lot how I found out as I had what I thought were two periods and I didn’t find out until 8 weeks. It’s quite a funny story looking back now but I’m used to it. It’s dealing with people’s shock because I very much was not trying and have been a firm I’m not having children person in the past lol.

EsseKey · 19/07/2021 08:03

How was everyone's weekend?
We are still in self isolation, 2 more days to go! And I will get my 12 wk scan on Wednesday...I am so nervous, even though I had an 8 weeks scan I still think I will go there and they won't find anything 😭

when we told our families we didn't really get many questions, just general how far along are you, and if I was feeling ok (but a lot of excitement!)... I don't expect much more from my friends either, a(nother) baby is not a big news anymore ahahah

@midnight90 honestly I didn't do much after I found out I was pregnant (it was just over 4 wk), I had to work and get the vaccination that day. Didn't tell anyone for a couple of days, called the midwife after a couple of weeks to get the appointments booked in. Good luck with ttc!

expectinglittlebear · 19/07/2021 08:46

@EsseKey Aww bless you, only 2 more days to go until you get to see your LO!! x

Anyone else still really struggling with tiredness? I don't know if it was the heat yesterday, but I didn't move from the sofa all day. I woke up, had some breakfast and was still half asleep, went to lay down on the sofa, fell asleep and was asleep for most of the day, had dinner and then went to bed again Blush The tiredness is unreal this week!! I hate days like that though, it makes me feel so unproductive!!

Does anybody know how long the screening bloods usually take to come back after the 12wk test? We want to announce it to everyone after the scan, but I am keen to wait until blood results are back too, just in case anything is wrong!
