Hi ladies, I just found out I'm pregnant 4 weeks 1 day just seeing if there's any other newly pregnant who are as excited, terrified, elated, and shocked as I am 😂🤰🏻💕 Due Jan 30th 2022 🤞🤞🤞

@spttc I'm not, I am in England :) The HSE here is the Health & Safety Executive.

I am in an office, theres not too many of us but all in close contact, no distancing or space to distance, people coming in with colds etc. In my area cases are rising rapidly and a few of my colleagues have had to pull their kids out of school because of cases and having to isolate etc.

I am probably just being paranoid, but I am definitely more concerned about it all this time around now the restrictions are lifting!

EsseKey · 15/07/2021 13:22

@expectinglittlebear I think that this guidance is pretty much self- explanatory, if you show it to your employer!
They must do a risk assessment and take the relevant precautionary measures. If they don't do it by default (as they should, even without covid), I believe you are entitled to discuss and request precautionary measures to be put in place! Especially with the lifting restrictions and cases rising!

Also it looks a bit concerning to me that so far they haven't implemented any distancing, health screening, masks etc...? but I don't know the details of your workplace so I I might be missing relevant information!

My line manager knows that I am pregnant but I asked her not to do anything about it (i.e. tell HR, do a risk assessment etc) until I have a bit of reassurance from the 12 wk scan. But my role is 100% desk based and I am mostly working from home - we are supposed to gradually go back to the office but I am not forced if I don't want to, and they are going to maintain distancing and masks and extra cleaning for the time being, so I would be ok with that in case I have to go occasionally to the office!

I think that your (and baby's) health and wellbeing are the most important so please do what you feel will help you feeling comfortable at work! XX

spttc · 15/07/2021 14:02

@expectinglittlebear ah funny. It's Health Service Executive here....like NHS. But no I don't think you are being paranoid at all!! I know cases are really high there too. I'd show that to your boss and stand up for yourself definitely. Shocking they have no masks or distancing!

Had my 12 weeks scan today! All seems okay and I’m due 27th January. Saw little arms and legs kicking which was amazing.

I went on my own which was fine but I had to be sent to empty my bladder as she wasn’t finding it easy to get good shots of the baby. So I went and did that and came back and my sonographer explained she had to go and help a colleague next door so I was left in the dark for about 10 mins worrying about next door (the couple went in just before me) and for my own baby as I hadn’t been told everything was great yet… nerve wracking and wish my partner was there at that point.

Was all fine in the end though. I don’t know what happened at next doors but I know they were being referred to a different hospital and the lady seem worried I felt so awful for them!

Also the fire alarms went off continuously through my scan which was annoying lol… but rings true to my experience with NHS so far lol. Still haven’t got my badger notes activation code so I have zero notes so far.

Tangfastic91 · 15/07/2021 15:39

@sociallydistained yay so happy for you, but that must have been so worrying for you. I wasn't expecting to see baby move (not sure why, just thought it was a lump haha) so it was so cool!

Anyone you are going to tell now you've had this reassurance?

Loll84 · 15/07/2021 16:17

@expectinglittlebear thanks for sharing. I havent told work yet and hoping to hold off until mid August but worries me going into work more. There is a bbc article on risks for pregnant women too today

@thecapitalsunited I've been told to take aspirin daily as prone to preeclampsia due to mums history and her high blood pressure and as my 1st baby so could it be that?

My iron count us extremely high which I'm worried about- for over 6 weeks now. They said to just monitor but I researched and looks a bit dangerous. Has anyone else had this?

EsseKey · 15/07/2021 16:19

@sociallydistained omg that was quite an adventure! But at least you have reassurance that everything looks ok and you could see your baby! 😍

Loll84 · 15/07/2021 16:23

Congratulations @sociallydistained, glad all good in the end

thecapitalsunited · 15/07/2021 16:43

@Loll84 Yes, those reasons were on the assessment sheet the midwife gave me although only the first pregnancy bit applies to me. The midwife said that a lot of people are put on it now.

@sociallydistained Congrats on your scan! Sounds quite nerve wracking having to sit on your own while the sonographer disappeared. And hopefully you’ll get your Badger Notes code - don’t expect much from it though!

I have to wait until Monday for my 12 week scan and I’m almost back to not believing I’m actually pregnant even though I had a scan 4 weeks ago and saw baby. My mind just can’t seem to process it properly.

Alle1991 · 15/07/2021 17:22

Hi had my scan today and everything looked healthy. Measuring a few days ahead so due date is now 26th Jan.

It was so crazy to see baby kicking about and moving so much. He/she was kicking their little legs and wouldn’t keep still at first. I can’t actually believe what I saw on the screen is actually in my tummy.

Hope everyone else’s scans went ok today x

Tangfastic91 · 15/07/2021 17:37

@Alle1991 Wonderful news, congratulations!

sociallydistained · 15/07/2021 17:45

Really nice to get everyone’s reactions to scans and good luck to those still to come!

I am telling work today - both jobs. Job one done. Job 2 halfway done. It’s been a completely nerve wracking day all round but hopefully can feel some relief after today! Looking forward to a nice bath to relax later 🤞🏼

Dolly0706 · 16/07/2021 00:07

Also had my 12 week scan today and all went well. I’m measuring 13 weeks and due date of 21st January. Baby was lying in an awkward position though so couldn’t get great picsSad but she was happy that all looked good! So grateful! Good luck to those still waiting for scans x

Tangfastic91 · 16/07/2021 07:02

@Dolly0706 glad all went well :)

EsseKey · 16/07/2021 08:15

So glad to hear the good news from all of you!! congrats :) :) :) x

still 6 days to go for me!

@sociallydistained I hope you managed to have a relaxing evening yesterday!

expectinglittlebear · 16/07/2021 08:50

Glad to hear all went well for everyone x

Still 1 week to go for mine, and I am getting so impatient :( Seems like mine is the latest out of all of us! Unless anyone else is on the 23rd? Or after?

expectinglittlebear · 16/07/2021 08:50

last*

EsseKey · 16/07/2021 10:14

@expectinglittlebear same as you, totally impatient! Mine was supposed to be on the 14th, but we are self isolating so I moved it to the 21st! I know it feels like ages (especially since many people have done it already), but we are nearly there! x

Tangfastic91 · 16/07/2021 11:15

Does anyone know when we can stop taking folic acid? I take it as a separate supplement and hate hate hate glugging the full glass of water with it.

expectinglittlebear · 16/07/2021 11:23

@Tangfastic91 I'm not too sure, I posted a separate thread about this this morning.

NHS website says 12 weeks, but I haven't heard anything from the midwife or anything to say stop? Confused

I am 12wks tomorrow so not sure what to do either!

expectinglittlebear · 16/07/2021 11:32

@Tangfastic91 Just an update, I have just heard back from my midwife who says I can stop taking it from tomorrow, but to still carry on with the Vitamin D all the way through x

Tangfastic91 · 16/07/2021 12:06

@expectinglittlebear oh thanks! Mine hasn't replied yet. Good bye horrible full glass 😂

thecapitalsunited · 16/07/2021 12:09

Full glass of water? Have I been taking it wrong all this time? Confused

Tangfastic91 · 16/07/2021 12:42

@thecapitalsunited that's what my bottle says? Maybe there are different formulations and I picked a bad one Grin

thecapitalsunited · 16/07/2021 12:49

@Tangfastic91 Mine come in the normal pill sleeves that you have to pop out. But I’ve just thrown away the last packet so I’ll have to wait until I get a new pack to have a look at the instructions. Patient leaflets online just say take with water but don’t specify an amount. But I can’t find the patient leaflet for the exact brand I was prescribed. I’m sure I would have read it when I first was prescribed it though.
