@saamantha19881 congratulations 🥳 hope everything is going well

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 01/07/2021 11:52

@onanadventure I feel the same about work! Hence the reason I’m working until the day before the due date. I really enjoy work and think it’s going to be something I miss a lot while I’m
On May leave! Although thinking the baby will take up soooo much time so I might not have time to miss it! Xx

Pinkroseuk · 01/07/2021 17:02

@MillyJS yes they are packed though don't currently close which is a slight issue!
Yes same I would love to know roughly what day and how long I will be in the hospital but sadly we won't!

Hey everyone congrats to those who had their baby!!!

I'm 36 weeks Saturday had midwife on Tuesday whereby she said his head was 'fully engaged' and measuring 3 weeks ahead so had a 39 week bump but no measurement I didn't ask as assumed she would write it down in notes but didn't. I know he was engaged the pressure has been immense and sleeping has got even more painful. Scan tomorrow to check size.

Finished work yesterday doesn't quite feel real keep trying to resist the urge to check emails. Since yesterday afternoon I've had such bad period cramps under my bump and today round in my back too called maternity and they just said stay at home take paracetamol only come back to us if pains are 5 minutes or less. Not sure it's anything in particular prob just everything getting ready for the next few weeks.

Don't have my bags packed but have sort of everything and my mum has the other half need to get it from her Saturday 😂

Hope everyone else is feeling well!!!

marmilade92 · 02/07/2021 01:07

Congratulations to the mums of recent babies! It's becoming more real now, arghh!

confusedandcurious · 02/07/2021 06:58

New to thread as baby was due in June. 41 weeks today with 3rd attempt at a sweep today, as first 2 wasn't favourable enough 🙏🏼 let's hope this works!!

PurpleCurtain · 02/07/2021 11:35

Stupid question but can people describe contractions for me?! I've heard repeated comparisons to period pains but I haven't had a period since I was 15 due to contraceptives and luckily falling pregnant immediately after stopping them, so I literally have no idea what a period pain feels like!

I've had the worst continuous stomach ache since yesterday evening and my stomach is very hard, but am I right in thinking this is more likely coincidence if it's not an on-off pain? I have fears of not realising I'm in labour and then having to either call an ambulance or deliver at home!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 02/07/2021 12:11

Contractions are often described as 'waves' of pain. Is your stomach pain getting worse? If you get up / lie / sit down does it change? If you are unsure there is no harm in getting checked over @PurpleCurtain

@Mummy2O, i think i was a bit unpreppared / unorganised this time! Probably something to do with it not having been first baby. Anyway it was all ok even though i struggled to find clean pants in my bag! Grin

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I know that feeling. For ages we've been thinking everything will be fine, we've done this before. We must have everything we need. We do not! Queue a last minute rush!

Mummy2O · 02/07/2021 13:07

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE How are you getting on?

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 02/07/2021 13:08

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE how are you feeling? Does your baby have a name yet? How was the birth overall? Xx

feistymumma · 02/07/2021 16:02

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

Baby boy born just after midnight 💙 fairly long labour, no induction just broken waters followed by long wait to get past 4cm
Congratulations!!
PeanutButterFalcon · 02/07/2021 19:25

@PurpleCurtain mine didn’t necessarily feel like period pains. I would describe it as the feeling you have when you have diarrhoea but can’t use the toilet and your stomach/back hurts. I also had pain in my thighs and back. It’ll start gradual, get worse and then go again ready for the next one to start.

Bunny2021 · 03/07/2021 16:22

Congratulations to all the new mums!

For the rest of us, anyone totally exhausted? I’ve still got 3.5 weeks to go and one more week of work and all I want to do is nap!

Mummy2O · 03/07/2021 16:58

@Bunny2021 Me! I constantly feel like I need a sit or lie down. Normal tasks are taking twice as long too.

onanadventure · 03/07/2021 17:23

I'm knackered.
Finished work on friday, and suddenly all energy dropped.

Few odd jobs to do, but bag packed and most bits sorted (always a few more things we can get and sure we are missing something).

I keep feeling braxton hicks at nigjt, but no waters, and discomforty cramps stop in the morning when I get up.
I'm scared ill miss it and end up having baby at home, but hoping body makes it obvious when it's time.

milkshakeandchips5 · 03/07/2021 17:31

I feel like I've grown x10 overnight! Everything is uncomfortable and I no longer walk but plod everywhere.

I also constantly feel like I want something but can't quite figure out what which makes me very irritable!

Mummy2O · 03/07/2021 18:32

I sat on the floor before, big mistake. It took me ages to get the strength to get back up again. I feel like a beached whale.

CoffeeAndCaramel · 03/07/2021 19:18

Everyone sounds as though they are getting close! Isn't this last bit bloody uncomfortable! Any one else feel really anxious just waiting for it to happen? I have a history or precipitous labours, my last one being 40 minutes start to finish so I'm terrified to go anywhere now! X

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 03/07/2021 20:41

The end is really uncomfortable yes! If its any consolation to you all i feel great now and have done since about day 2 when i caught up on sleep!

Had my 36 week scan on Friday and baby’s stomach is measuring off the scale Sad off to hospital on Monday for my fasting blood test, I even mentioned before to my midwife about symptoms of it and she said that I had no risk so she wasn’t going to send me for the blood test Hmm

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 03/07/2021 20:49

Thats good news @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE! I'm feeling tired and uncomfortable now. Woke up at 1am with cramping pain across my tummy, went back to sleep.... and that was the end of that. Am I the only one who is now hoping every twinge could be the start of it all? I'm 39 weeks and the thought of being pregnant for another 3 weeks is enough to make me cry. Does anyone have any tips for keeping distracted?

Mummy2O · 03/07/2021 21:21

I've started questioning every twinge. I still think the little one is breach at the moment. I keep getting kicked in the hips.

My group B strep test came back positive. I am glad I did it now. My plan is still for a section, but it is worth knowing if he has other plans.

Vie8126 · 04/07/2021 07:55

@Pinkprinny I had my 36 week scan Friday and was told the same they took my bloods there and then. I asked to speak to a midwife who was just a little unhelpful as was well you'll hear from us if it's gestational diabetes or you won't hear anything. I wanted to know if I don't have it why the growth and will they re check in a few weeks she just kept talking to me like I didn't understand and saying we will contact you if it's GD.... 🙄 So I won't hear until Monday or Tuesday if it is so just a waiting game and then I don't see anyone until midwife at 38 weeks for a sweep. I expressed concern over baby's size and she just said well his stomach is squishy so just don't worry. I have had a previous large baby with an emergency section as he was in so much distress so felt that she wasn't actually listening to me much! Good luck with your bloods Monday I hope you get more info in regards to going forwards.

I'm on mat leave now and uncomfortable fed up etc looking forward to my first full week off plan to get bags packed etc. Questioning every twinge and pain also.
