@Mayneedanextraroom great news!! I understand why you're still feeling cautious about it all but I have every hope that this will be a successful pregnancy for you :)

@Vemjs I am exactly the same! I had CBT last year for my emetophobia which hardly worked and now I'm back to being a mess every day! I don't take any meds (out of fear) but I did think worst case I'll have to go get them which is what my midwife suggested. I have been wearing sea bands for a week now and apart from some panics after I eat I've been fine with these (too afraid to take them off tho)

It's so nice to know someone here has similar issues! How far gone are you? I'm 7 weeks and been wearing the sea bands non stop too!
I've also had multiple cbt's which always made me feel I would be able to handle it until I was around it and it proved no use...
I've just spoke with doc who has prescribed cyclizine which I'm hoping fixes me as he said they're safer to take than having constant attacks. But I'm now worried that they'll make me dozey and when I'm tired and feel sick that's when the attacks are at there worst!

lucy851 · 28/04/2021 13:27

@Vemjs yes it is! Even my midwife was like, what's that?! My notes say 'just fear of sick' I'm thinking just!! It controls my life! Yea I had CBT during lockdown so as good as it made me feel, I was 'safe' at home. I'm 7+2 today. Is this your first baby? It is for me at 35 due to this controlling me mentally. I had a massive panic attack when I went for my bloods and I do worry what the stress of it all is doing to baby😞 I have to go back to work in the office in a few weeks too.. I'm dreading it! Maybe I need to book into docs and get something before then. Totally get it, I don't take any meds due to worry how I might feel but I read in another group that loads of people take diff anti sickness with what we have they basically live off it so I think you should be fine 😀

I was due a promotion this April and got told it’s probably going to be put back to jan 2022 due to the company buying itself out and leaving the larger corporation we are currently part of. It’s so stressful this maternity/career logistics and whilst I’ve not told work yet and don’t intend to for as long as I can, I know ultimately I’m probably going to lose my promotion :(

These posts move so fast....welcome any newbies

@lucea87 i am so sorry to hear your news. Wishing you a safe pregnancy for the remaining twin.

I had some spotting so have been referred to the EPU on Friday. Think my stress is being redirected to DP as everything he does at the minute seems to be grating on me and trying hard not to loose it. Some of it is worried about the scan but the other is the terror of what have we done and can we really manage two!!!!

I haven’t even thought about how long to take off but if it’s two I will take the year plus holiday each end as if all goes well this would be our first and most likely last babies.

Sair44411 · 28/04/2021 14:10

Some great maternity packages for people.
I get 15 weeks full pay and then SMP.
Obviously trying to save like crazy because who can live on SMP? It will just about cover the mortgage! Eek!

jdr1234 · 28/04/2021 14:17

@lucea87 so sorry to hear your news 😔 wishing you all the best for the remaining pregnancy.
I’m 9 weeks today and feeling pretty shit- constant nausea, headache and feeling like I can’t even get off the sofa. Feel guilty moaning as feel very lucky but tough with two children to look after. Hoping this only lasts till 12 weeks but heard 15/16 is more likely.
Wishing everyone who is anxious or having early scans well....I’m having harmony test and scan when I will be 11 weeks so 2 weeks to go!

We're considering harmony - depending on if the sac is still visible on my dating scan (2 weeks on Monday) then I might not be able to have the NHS tests until 20 weeks and I don't want to wait that long. We had considered harmony before so might go for it. Our local place offers a 4D scan at a later date as part of the package too which we had also planned on getting.

Hxoxox · 28/04/2021 14:46

Hi everyone just checking in... didn't see this thread and wondered where everyone went Confused..!! Still no symptoms for me and feeling ok. Still getting odd period like cramps and wee bit browny/pinky d/c. Scan on Sunday and anxious as anything!!

Also, re maternity pay I'm in Scotland too and I was shocked at the NHS policy. I actually don't understand it all that well tbh so we get paid a percentage after 8 weeks and smp on top?

Horehound · 28/04/2021 14:51

I just had my midwife appointment where she took blood and urine samples.
Also got healthy start vitamins so don't buy any more if you're running out! I got two boxes!
She was concerned my blood pressure was low but did say it's better starting off low than high.
She also will test me for gestational diabetes at 28 weeks. Both my dad and grandad had type 2 and after I did a DNA thingy I know I'm at increased risk.
I really should stop eating so much chocolate and puddings after dinner but I love them :( lol

TakeYourFinalPosition · 28/04/2021 15:17

@Horehound I just had my booking in appt too - but just bloods, urine, blood pressure and carbon dioxide. I didn’t get any vitamins!

I’m feeling really anxious today. It’s not helped that we’re in the process of moving house, and our buyer is messing around. I’ve convinced myself there’s no heartbeat... the midwife was surprised they were leaving me 10 days between scans, but Window to the Womb advised me to wait for my next appointment rather then book a private one.

I’m sat trying to work, holding back the tears. DH keeps telling me it’s all fine and as it should be, but I’m so anxious and upset. And really cold. And hungry.

Horehound · 28/04/2021 15:22

@TakeYourFinalPosition aw no. If you're cold and hungry do try and eat something as that will likely help with your body temp too. FlowersBrew

tuxedocat · 28/04/2021 15:29

@TakeYourFinalPosition aw ❤️ Hormones are hard. I’ve been the same today convinced something is wrong because I’ve had some stomach pains. I think I’ve just had ridiculous hunger. But it’s easy for hormones to get on top you you, you can only control so much remember. Have something warm to drink, something sugary to eat and then when you get back have a pamper evening. Tomorrow is a new day and a day closer to seeing baby!

Busybee2021 · 28/04/2021 15:31

@Horehound

Yes my probationary period is 6 months so either way I'll have to tell them before the probation is up. My gut is telling me to say it upfront before I start rather than breaking the news a month in, they're a global pharmaceutical company so I'm expecting it to be taken quite well but still not ideal timing!!

Ah ok damn!

Oh I worked for GSK for a few years, was great!

My mat pay is just statutory too- so bad that they expect people to pay mortgages on this!

I also self referred and heard nothing. I rang today as I'm 6.5 weeks and they told me they only ringing people to even book the midwife appts from 9 weeks ONWARDS!! how crazy is that.. I thought you were supposed to have the appt at 8 weeks normally.
Then she said I'll at least have it before the 14 week scan.. I was like 'uh what?' and she said that they're so overrun that 12 week scans are becoming more like 14 week scans now 🙄🙄

I just wanted something booked in to make it more real! Thank god for early private scans but makes me angry that we have to resort to that tbh.

MushroomQueen · 28/04/2021 16:25

@AnonymousXXIX hi I'm from UK and I have given birth in Portugal twice. We relocated by car when I was 6 months pregnant. (We had all our belongings in the car in route to a ship for overnight crossing and was cancelled 2 hrs b4 checkin so we had to drive the entire way on dec 31st with no phones (we had to book everything online via my dad b4 we went on channel tunnel such as tickets and a motorway motel then used payphones. My parents and mil n fil were having kittens but it was an amazing adventure

Mumofboys20122017 · 28/04/2021 16:38

@gizmo167 @Cocomelon2019 @Firstbornunicorn hey to all my NI peeps! Lol I'll be based in Craigavon! Yea deffo very different from my last 2 pregnancies! Wish they wouldn't change things 🙈

@tuxedocat hope you're feeling OK today with the cramping! I always get scared with cramps and pains too!

@Scarletpig1 I'm the same! Wasn't too bothered with eating with the last few days you can't fill me! I can't stop eating everything in sight! It needs to stop lol

AnonymousXXIX · 28/04/2021 16:38

@MushroomQueen thanks for the info! We would probably not go over till 8 months : o It's really because otherwise we'd miss holidays with family (and 2020 was already pretty bad wasn't it..!), that is the only reason. But as I said, it is waaay to early to think about that right now. Just my planning brain isn't it!

tuxedocat · 28/04/2021 16:55

My trust (south west) have said they may not be able to do the first trimester combined screening due to capacity so I think we’ll have to go private for that with a harmony test

TreeRoad · 28/04/2021 17:43

The nausea is awful today for me. Willing it to be bedtime so I can have some respite from it. Crackers aren’t quite cutting it.

chloed121 · 28/04/2021 18:08

Had my early scan tonight! Dating at 8+4 weeks
Was so reassuring and lovely to see! X
Made me feel 100% better.
