@Horehound it's so bad that they don't confirm they received it or anything isn't it? Like you don't have enough worries without the midwives not even replying to you! Can't believe you had to chase them 🙈 no I'm in N.Ireland, glad you have an appointment and all sorted for today!

@Scarletpig1 oh hopefully get some sort of letter for booking in soon enough then!

They must get so many calls asking if the forms have been received. Just set up an autoreply! It cannot be that hard and will save them time and money in the long run!

Some good maternity packages here! I get statutory which I can't understand how anyone can live off!!! My employer is amazing, heavily invested in their staff and we are really well looked after but their maternity policy really lets them down. Thankfully we've managed to save cash through Covid and will save for the next 7 months as well to get us through. I plan on taking 10 months including some holiday. So I'll take the full 39 weeks entitlement then 3/4 weeks holiday.

I'm also terrified 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ since I lost one of my bubba's in edged back to more terrified than excited but hoping that after my scan next week and then my dating scan on 17th that I'll relax a bit more and head back to excitement. But then the terrified ness that I'm not prepared to be a parent will creep in 😂

tuxedocat · 28/04/2021 10:32

I woke up last with a sharp pain above my belly button to the right, it eased off straight away but I was quite worried at the time. I’ve been so hungry all morning and I’m trying to work out the difference between hunger pains vs cramping 😂
Feel like cramping is much lower and anything above is stomach? I was petrified of the pain being ectopic last night but the rational side of me is thinking that it would be way too high?

Velvetscrunchy · 28/04/2021 10:44

I start a new job on Tuesday so I don’t think I’m entitled to any maternity leave!! 🥴

gizmo167 · 28/04/2021 10:54

@Mumofboys20122017 I'm from N I too, I left my form with gp last week, heard nothing, I'm only 5wk1 but given history of mc's sort of hope to hear early but as Dr wouldn't even see me last pregnancy I won't be surprised if I don't!

Cocomelon2019 · 28/04/2021 10:58

@Mumofboys20122017 @gizmo167 I'm from NI too!! Also 5+1! I phoned the GP last Monday and she was referring me to the Ulster but haven't heard anything back yet. It's so different from my first pregnancy where I had to leave a urine sample in and then have a GP appointment too.

Aw no you can only get maternity allowance which isn't much. I had that with my first pregnancy. Tbh if I wasn't pregnant I'd leave my job and look for a new one because I am not enjoying it but since the package is so good I'll ride it out!

At first I found I wasn't eating much because of the nausea. Now I find it helps the nausea if I graze constantly. This morning I've had two bowls of cereal, a cinnamon whirl and a snickers.all before lunch. I'd better calm down or I won't fit through the hospital doors by due date Cake

Busybee2021 · 28/04/2021 11:23

I start a new job on Tuesday also, may I ask if you have told your employer about your pregnancy yet? I'm 8 weeks today and planning on telling him today/tomorrow.

Firstbornunicorn · 28/04/2021 11:26

Hey @Mumofboys20122017 and @gizmo167, I’m in NI as well!

I told my employer already but if you're just joining a new company I think I'd wait until at least after 12 week scan and also do you have a probation term?

Oo better join the thread. Hello all and welcome newbies

MamaMoonbeam · 28/04/2021 11:41

@MushroomQueen I love your username! I adore foraging for mushrooms and other goodies 😊

Firstbornunicorn · 28/04/2021 11:59

NI people, are you considering your birth options? I think in the Northern Trust, I only have the option to go to Antrim hospital or a home birth, but I’d massively prefer a birth centre. Does anyone know if you can be referred out of trust? My last birth was quick, so probably wouldn’t make it to the Ulster in time, but maybe the Mater if it’s reopened.

AnonymousXXIX · 28/04/2021 12:00

Getting way ahead of myself but... what about giving birth abroad? (Neither of us are originally from the UK and are not normally there at Christmas time.)

Firstbornunicorn · 28/04/2021 12:07

@AnonymousXXIX someone I know came home from Africa to give birth here, so it can definitely be done if it’s your home country.

Cocomelon2019 · 28/04/2021 12:13

@Firstbornunicorn I was only given the option of the Ulster or The Royal when I phoned the GP for referral. Worth asking though!

Inthecanyon · 28/04/2021 12:18

@Cocomelon2019

Thank you. I’m home now and I’ve managed a bit of breakfast but I’m feeling very limited as to what I want to eat. Everything I look at I’m like...nahhh don’t fancy that.

I will have a look at the pregnancy sickness support. I’m not finding my workplace very supportive either - very much of the opinion you’re pregnant, not ill but I have to put myself and baby first so I’ll stay off until I feel able to return.

Horehound · 28/04/2021 12:20

@AnonymousXXIX o think you Kaye need to get a fit to fly note from the gp though?
You may have to go a bit earlier than you'd usually plan.

Hi everyone, I’m cautiously back, I had my scan at the epu this morning, my last scan was 17th April, and I’m so shocked to say they found a baby with a heartbeat measuring 7+1, the scan I had on the 17th we had prepared ourselves for bad news as they said I had a sac and yolk sac measuring 4/5 weeks and I should have been 6+4 at that point. Fast forward to today and I’m now exactly one week behind where I thought I should be

They have said I have a area of bleeding away from the pregnancy which appears to be healing and a cervical etropy, which explains the bleeding.

I’ve really thought the worse the past nearly two weeks and can’t quite believe everything seems ok. I’m still not relaxed as we lost a baby over a year ago at 9+3 but for now Im trying to stay calm and hope for the best. Hopefully this reassures anyone with spotting that it’s not always bad news, I’ve been spotting since the 3rd April every day. Some days worse than others and ranging from red/brown/black, still makes me nervous even now.

A huge welcome to everyone new x

Cocomelon2019 · 28/04/2021 12:37

@Inthecanyon I found HG wasn't really understood, even by some health professionals 😔 Everyone just thinks it's normal morning sickness. Can you get a sick line from your GP?

Honestly just eat what you can, I was always told baby will take what it needs first so not to worry that way. It sounds horrible but for months I ate based on what was easy to throw up, there was a lot of soup and jelly (I found the strawberry flavour really nice because it took away the horrible taste for while) It will get better! Just focus on taking it day at a time xx

AnonymousXXIX · 28/04/2021 12:39

@horehound oh don't worry it would be a car trip (EU). I'm more concerned about transfer of care.. costs.. no idea.

Velvetscrunchy · 28/04/2021 12:43

@Busybee2021 not a chance I’m telling them yet! I’ve actually worked for the company for 3 years but as a contractor and then was offered a promotion/chance to be directly employed so took it. I love my team but - and this is really sad in this day and age - I don’t want being pregnant to stop me having any opportunities. I’m lucky in that I work from home so they won’t know until I tell them.

Velvetscrunchy · 28/04/2021 12:45

@AnonymousXXIX I’m the other way round. I’m based in Portugal but I’m moving back to the U.K. after my 7w scan next week just so I have continuous care.
