Thanks ladies- it is reassuring to know I'm not the only one where symptoms have eased! My hubby said it might mean it's a boy! My other thought/hope was that it could be because my DD has just turned 1 so perhaps my body is just used to the hormone levels from last time still!

Xxx

Em39ma · 05/05/2021 13:21

Is anyone else super jumpy. If I get a message on my phone the noise makes jump and I’m talking to someone so know it’s going to happen.
Dd only quietly said mummy to me and I nearly screamed I jump so much.
Didn’t have this before it’s really horrible.

Horehound · 05/05/2021 13:32

Here's mine! I love this app!

@Horehound I used that app with DS and just looking at it makes me feel queasy. I was nauseous and sick a lot with him. The sickness has only started to kick in over the past few days this time, but I’m hoping for an easier run!

Mumofboys20122017 · 05/05/2021 16:33

I have had waves of nausea but right now I'm currently laying on the couch full on ready to throw up 🤮 considering going to get it up just to feel relief, it's horrible! With my DS 1 I was sick from beginning to end all day everyday, the DS 2 I was sick until about half way, wondering what this one will be 😭

Mumofboys20122017 · 05/05/2021 16:49

OK so I got up to use the bathroom and was sick, but I feel so much better for getting it up at least so that's good! Hope this isn't the start of it everyday 😭

Em39ma · 05/05/2021 17:40

I haven’t been sick today woohoo.
Find best thing for me to eat is toast with a little jam, grapes and grape juice and chicken soup.
I’m ok to eat this for the next 7+ months. Have to take the tablet half an hour before eating and the nausea is still bad. But it’s a lot better than it was.
Everyone keeps saying as I’m even worse than I was with DD that there’s more than one, not finding it funny. New house won’t be big enough for that without a lot of work.

Mumofboys20122017 · 05/05/2021 17:44

@Em39ma aw all that food sounds so good tbf 😍 but I'm pretty sure I'll be diagnosed with GD again this pregnancy so won't be allowed to eat any nice things like that 😭 glad to hear the nausea is a little better at least! X

Em39ma · 05/05/2021 17:58

@Mumofboys20122017im already monitoring my blood sugars. I was boarder line with DD, but I can’t take the stuff they give you to test.
My sugars are rather low at the moment so put the jam in to try and raise them.
Glad I kept my monitor, hopefully they will be happy to take them from my app again.

Fingers fruits not as bad this time. I used baby + last time and this time I'm not interested in it stall! Funny how our pregnancies affect the use of an app!

Aw that's good news @Em39ma hopefully it will get better and you can increase what you're eating.

I craved Chinese last night and were finishing it off right now. So good! Last year we had zero takeaways and I'm more than making up for it now!

What happens if you are diagnosed with GD? My dad and grandad both have type 2 and my midwife said I'll be an I creased risk and need to take the glucose drink at 28 weeks

@Em39ma I'm sure I still have my monitor somewhere! But not sure if the doctor would give me the lancets and testing strips without being diagnosed? Might be something to look into tho!

@Horehound I think every hospital is different, but for me I had to test my bloods 7 times a day from 28 weeks until the end, change my diet completely to very low carb, no sugar, but high fat and protein, had to go to the hospital every 2 weeks for check ups and to go over numbers, but the bonus was lots of extra scans 😍 I was lucky enough to stay diet controlled so no medication or insulin! But every pregnancy is different. There's also a fantastic fb group for ladies with GD full of great support and recipes so if you are diagnosed its a great place to go! I also ended up 2 and half stone lighter after birth than at my booking appointment so the diet actually worked wonders but after missing sugar and carbs for months I stupidly put the weight back on 🙈😂

Oh my goodness that sounds crazy! I like the idea of more scans but I have a sweet tooth! Eek

@Mumofboys20122017 I bought my new lancets and strips on Amazon.
They seem to do all the different makes on there. I’ve got the matrix machine.
@Horehound as @Mumofboys20122017 said everywhere is different.
I suffer from to much water (polyhydramnios) I already look 6/7 months pregnant and I’m losing weight. It can be linked to GD so I have to keep an eye on my sugars. I only had very raised sugars as had a chocolate bar a couple of hours before doing a urine test. I was lucky just had to stop eating sweet treats so wasn’t to bad.

Firstbornunicorn · 05/05/2021 22:01

Is anyone else finding that water makes them stupidly queasy? I think I was like this with DS as well – could keep food down, but not water.

Also: hello, post-nasal drip, my old friend.

Em39ma · 06/05/2021 06:24

@Firstbornunicorn I’m like that with water. Need something with a flavour.

AnonymousXXIX · 06/05/2021 07:50

@Firstbornunicorn yeah water isn't working too well for me either atm. But lemonade is tasting too sweet. Might try and find some regular sparkling water...

Been feeling sick for 2 days now uugh. Really worried about weight gain from eating too many plain crackers? Is that crazy?

Same here with water, very hard to drink enough fluids...ginger and lemon helps a bit. I am on week 9 and my nauseated escalated and it is just unbearable, also sometimes end up not keeping down food :( really hope this is the peak!
Sair44411 · 06/05/2021 08:02

The sickness is creeping in today!! Feel like I could throw up but haven't actually been sick yet.
Trying to pull myself together to walk the dog before work! I could sleep for a week I think!

I haven't really had symptoms up until now - do people think that means I'm having a boy?? 20 weeks can't come quick enough to find out pink or blue.

I'm also desperate to tell family but we are trying to hold out until the end of May.

Also, I've been doing a better job at work on secondment for over a year, and am on the middle of being made permanent. I'm terrified to tell work encase it effects my role being signed off - anyone else stressing about their work and how pregnancy might effect their career?? Sounds crazy to worry about this but it's the biggest thing I'm worrying about right now.

AnonymousXXIX · 06/05/2021 08:07

@Sair44411 this is totally my biggest concern too. My work requires frequent travel abroad and my midwife told me yesterday that I can't do any long distance flights any more between now and 6 months after the baby is born! I thought that was a little extreme! (I mean obv travel is currently off the table anyway; but I had some hopes for the next year...)

I do not have a permanent contract, it's renewed annually. My team is fantastic and I know they would do everything to keep me, but it's still a concern right.

Horehound · 06/05/2021 08:09

Yes if I drink water or diluting juice I just feel full up to my throat.
The only thing I feel ok drinking is fizzy flavoured water!

OP posts:
TakeYourFinalPosition · 06/05/2021 08:28

Wow @AnonymousXXIX did they say why? I was told the standard “avoid flying in the third trimester where possible” when I asked about work travel.

@Sair44411 I’m trying to hold out for the last week of May too. It feels like I’ve been keeping the secret forever now! Nobody knows but me and DH.

I wouldn’t read too much into symptoms, my friend had three totally different pregnancies and all boys. Then the one she was convinced was a boy as it was identical to her first was a girl! Facebook groups seem full of people with the same. I think the different symptoms for different genders are old wives tales, especially as the symptoms are caused by HCG and there’s no way to tell what gender you’re having from HCG levels.

I share the worries about impact on career...

I also can’t drink plain water. Squash is doing okay for me right now, and I’m snacking loads or I get crazily nauseous.

AnonymousXXIX · 06/05/2021 08:36

@TakeYourFinalPosition increased risk of blood clots during/after pregnancy. (I'm healthy and classed as low risk, so nothing to do with my personal history.)

I realise flying in December would be a bit silly, but surely we could have an educated look at September together with a doctor, right? And e.g. next March as well? I don't think work will penalise me for not following through on the projects but I WANT to. I worked hard to set them up!

climbershell · 06/05/2021 08:43

@AnonymousXXIX that's strange, maybe get a second opinion. It's generally fine to fly up to 28th week no doctors note needed, up to 36 weeks with note. I plan to go on a long hail holiday when the baby's a few months old easiest time to travel is when they're baby's.

I got tested for toxoplasmosis. Got the call yesterday. I have antibodies but also recent infection. Somehow they didn't know I was pregnant(!?!), so doing more analysis now to see exactly how recent the infection was and if overlaps pregnancy.

I expected to have antibodies and then one less thing to worry about and could then carry on potting up my veg and plants worry free. Didn't expect a recent infection. Tho from googling, that can mean anytime in the last 12 months, so I guess realistically because of antibodies it is likely baby is protected and all ok, but doesn't stop me worrying until have further data
