I suffer from allergies so have been told I won’t be having the jab.
They refused to give me the flu shot when pregnant with DD.
Though at the moment not sure we would know what’s reaction to jab. My reaction to anything I’m allergic to is projectile vomiting. Happens within 1 to 10 minutes and has been known to continue for up to a week.
They know there allergic reactions as had lots of tests.
Really feeling down right now. Just want to feel normal again.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 04/05/2021 17:32

@AnonymousXXIX They believe it’ll pass through to give the baby some immunity, but they haven’t proved it yet, AFAIK.

Right now children are in tests about the vaccine, I don’t think any are approved for use in under 18s yet, so I think it’ll be a while before any of the vaccines are signed off for babies...

I’ll have my second dose after 12 weeks, but we’re also considering limiting visitors and things around the birth, presuming we’re not in any form of lockdown. DHs parents are in their 70s, so we’re worried about the risk to them and the baby... but to be honest, it doesn’t look like my hospital intends to open up to any visitors but the other parent this year anyway.

AnonymousXXIX · 04/05/2021 17:55

Oh that's interesting @TakeYourFinalPosition!

I am hopeful that by January both our families will be vaccinated, but as they are not in the UK, it is not at all clear yet. Fingers crossed.

I am so sorry you are feeling so unwell @Em39ma. I hope it gets better :(

jdr1234 · 04/05/2021 18:21

Hi all
I actually had the vaccine, 2nd dose 2 days before I found out I was pregnant, I was actually relieved to of had it as I know in israel and America it was from the start. I also have two close friends who developed covid during pregnancy and both went on to have pre term babies, one at 32 weeks and one at 34 weeks, both were ok but a horrible time having a baby in ICU so for me the pros outweigh the cons. Each to there own though.

MushroomQueen · 04/05/2021 19:33

I had covid in November/end of December and I got pregnant almost simultaneously and had a chemical pregnancy at 4 weeks. Had a mini period then got pregnant again in Jan but had another Chemical. Me and doctor agree that my body was just likely attacking everything and anything for a few months as I'm 7 weeks after 2 months of normal cycles and everything seems normal. Here in Portugal I've read I'll only get the 1 vaccine (we are way behind you guys so won't be until September (35 this year ) as I have had covid so will already have antibodies. I'll definitely be getting it but after I'm 20 weeks I think. My body would argue with me I think b4

amysaurus87 · 04/05/2021 20:15

Had my booking appointment on Monday over the phone and got booking bloods on Thursday.

I've had my first dose of the covid vaccine (AstraZenica) so I've been advised not to get my 2nd dose as pregnant women are advised to have either Pfizer or Moderna.

Morning sickness has kicked in over the last few days, thankfully its literally just first thing in the morning but it's a new one for me as I had no sickness with my little boy!

fawnhound · 04/05/2021 20:35

@Kinsters @AnonymousXXIX was going to say the same. I've just been told I can book one. I rang up the booking number and was told only Moderna or Pfizer. I interestly though she said you have to book it through GP and that you maybe have a slight fight as many people were reporting to them that local surgeries were fully booked on 2nd doses. She said to push through it and to ring up the local NHS representative to complain if that happened in order to force the issue. Definitely want to get zapped up! Smile

Scarletpig1 · 04/05/2021 20:56

I actually got my vaccination invitation letter today. I'd read things advising to wait till after first trimester and haven't had booking in appointment yet to discuss so I called to postpone vaccination till after first trimester. I also said to the girl I'm pregnant so think I will need Pfizer or moderna. She said she couldn't arrange that and someone at the centre would help me. What if they only have AZ that day? Do they keep sending you away? Very strange I thought🤔

Mumofboys20122017 · 04/05/2021 21:33

Hey everyone! So sorry to everyone that's going through a tough time right now, I hope you are all OK and that things get better over the coming weeks ❤

In regards to the vaccine, I had my first pfizer jab back in February and was due my second jab a few weeks ago, but found out I was pregnant and decided against it as did my pharmacist! But each to their own, up to everyone to make their own decisions on it based on all the research ❤

I think my sense of smell has really heightened these last few days! Some smells I can smell really strongly and their lovely and noone else can smell it 😂 other smells make me want to throw up!! Also a few hours before the end of my shift in work I just wanted to sleep standing up! And my back was killing! I'm only 6+1 oh dear haha

jdr1234 · 04/05/2021 21:38

@DarceyCat how did your scan go?

Cuddles21 · 04/05/2021 21:48

I'm 7w today and the potatoes on my plate at dinner completely turned me and I couldn't eat them - very strange! DH also did dinner last week and put chips on and my stomach was turning slightly at there being too many chips on my plate - think even though I'm hungry, sometimes I'm put off food.

Griffindork · 04/05/2021 22:16

I'm still not sure if I will get jag when offered, the Scottish government are saying pregnant women will get theirs in line with their age category (31) so it's unlikely I have to worry about it for first trimester. Its a tough one.
On a more positive note, I contacted my gp today and they prescribed cyclizine for the sickness, I managed to eat supernoodles and a bowl of custard before the nausea gradually crept back. Hope everyone is well xx

Iheartbed · 04/05/2021 23:03

Strange pregnancy symptoms in the last week:
Stinky feet
Excessive salivation at night
Severe groin pain when sneezing

Kinsters · 05/05/2021 02:17

Interesting to read everyone's thoughts on the vaccine. I think it's unlikely I'll be offered it in first trimester so on balance I'd probably take it whenever I could.

Birchwoods that height is so funny! That happened to my sister's friend too. Her height and weight were recorded the wrong way round so they had her as 70cm tall and 170kg!! Or something like that.

Em39ma so sorry you're feeling so awful. Do you have help at home? I find it hard enough with my toddler and that's without any real sickness.

Em39ma · 05/05/2021 06:41

@Kinsters fortunately we are actually with my parents at the moment. We sold our house at the beginning of April and our new one which is actually only 5 houses away from my parents isn’t ready yet. The lady we were buying off unfortunately died before we could complete, just heard today that he daughters have now got the rights to sell from probate.

Velvetscrunchy · 05/05/2021 08:16

Not approved for under 18 years yet but Pfizer showed 100% efficacy in the 12-15 age group and some countries are talking of vaccinating this group as soon as June.

May2311 · 05/05/2021 08:37

Morning all,

Hope everyone is well.

I'm 9w 2d today and just about symptomless now for about 5 days. I am now worrying something is wrong 🙈 with my DD this was my worse time feeling sick and tired. Anyone else at similar stage as me and no symptoms?!

Regarding vaccine, I haven't been offered it yet and haven't read loads into it. My concern is if it can impact the baby at all once it is born( thalidomide medication incident in the 1960s where babies were born with deformities worries me) however rationally I'm presuming medical professionals will have researched into that before saying pregnant women could have it! Once I'm offered it I'll probably do some more research and make a decision then. Xxx

climbershell · 05/05/2021 08:40

@Velvetscrunchy I don't take any reports that say any vaccine is 100% efficient seriously.

I'm 8 weekd today, and it's the first day anything has shown on my hand size bit of the app! Baby's hands are a couple mm 😁

Maybe you'll have a boy this time! O read if you have a girl symptoms are worse due to higher progesterone or something

@AnonymousXXIX I watched the webinar and it said if you have the vaccine while pregnant your baby will be born with some antibodies 👏

Moo37 · 05/05/2021 08:55

@May2311. I've just bee researching the same thing, I'm 6+4 and I've been very unwell but today although still nauseous it's not as strong. Trying my hardest to think positive 🙂

Pineapple87 · 05/05/2021 08:57

@May2311 I’m 7+1 and my symptoms have gone, I had nausea but wasn’t sick for about 10 days my boobs have been sore for 3 weeks, they are still tender but only when I take my bra off, it’s a worry isn’t it X

TakeYourFinalPosition · 05/05/2021 09:20

@Horehound It’s Ovia Pregnancy. I love it too. I’m only 7+2 so no hands or feet for me yet, but @climbershell that is adorable ❤️ look how small they are!!

My symptoms have been on and off for a few weeks now. Nausea is better (potentially because I consume a lot of ginger anyway?) but cramps are fairly achey and consistent... I’ve never had sore boobs or anything.

@DarceyCat, I hope you’re alright.

My follow up EPU scan is on Saturday. The cramps are reassuring that there’s growth happening, but I’d be lying if I suggested I’m not scared. I’m sort of stuck between excited and dreading it.

AnonymousXXIX · 05/05/2021 09:37

My midwife is calling to book me in tonight and I am so excited :D

Also a little nauseous and about to host a webinar with a large ginger ale just off the screen Grin
