My new bedtime changed to 21:30/21:45 a few weeks ago, usually asleep by 22:00! Wake up 2-3 times to pee. Always been such a terrible sleeper, and usually can't get back to sleep after last pee 🤦‍♀️
@fawnhound welcome & congratulations. I hope your friends are happy for you and that they'll find joy in your LO when they arrive too. Sounds like a difficult situation but look after yourself and your emotions too.

@yankee4953 I'm afraid to say I didn't shake that feeling until my first arrived. It eased a bit with each scan and definitely eased more once you start to feel movements. That was my experience anyway.

@BrodieKD I'm waking with night sweats Confused three nights this past week I've woken with my tshirt soaked through. It's pretty grim!
I too am waking up with my tshirt soaked, it's horrible!!

Welcome@fawnhound! Sounds like your friends may also want children but since none of you had them, they just put it to the backs of their minds. That's my armchair psychology for today! Hopefully they come round. You shouldnt have to pacify other people's emotions at such a happy time, what a damper!

Welcome to @twentynineteen! Congratulations!
Hello everyone,
Just found you via the powers of Google! So happy I have :) Just found out this Monday I'm pregnant too, I think 6 weeks today. Have to say I only found out as a huge clump of my hair fell out and I'd contacted the doctor about that! Turns out my body was probably so surprised it went a bit crazy. I've found I've felt so bloated the past weeks and really really tired. I kept making us go to bed at 8 and all my trousers feel tight so I guess it makes more sense now:) Does that insane massive stomach feeling subside? I'm genuinely surprised how my stomach feels! I also found this week telling my close friends the news very strange in some ways, I'm 40 and my partner and I have made it possible to get pregnant for the past few years but no results until now. We hadn't been trying as such as just letting it happen if it happened. But my closest friends are my age or older without children and its caused crisis within each one. I was worried it might so have completely under played my desire to maybe be excited about it. But it's so nice reading all of your comments and I feel like I can say I'm so excited... It was a strange week managing everyone else's emotions and not my own. This is the strangest new journey I've found myself on so far, I keep thinking I'm getting my period as if its over and realise its nothing, keep wanting to buy some cheapy tests so I can keep checking it! Anyway splurge there. So happy to have found this, I've found all of your conversations really comforting, thank you

@twentynineteen

Hello everyone - tentatively saying hello and asking to join! My EDD is 12/12/21, I'm toying with the idea of getting a reassurance scan to make sure everything is ok as I'm fairly symptomless.... still getting positive pregnancy tests (and costing me a small fortune!)
Welcome!!

We have the same due date, and I'm symptom less aswell. Apart from my boobs feeling like they are going to drop off because they are that sore!!

I had a scan at EPU because of pain but all was fine :)

Em39ma · 01/05/2021 08:59

@fawnhound I’m 42 and having my second (4th pregnancy)
My friends have kids but they are range from 24 to10. I’m very much the odd one out with an 19 month old and pregnant again.
They love the fact I have little ones, they get cuddles without the hassle.

Minster2012 · 01/05/2021 08:59

@BrodieKD I'm sleeping awfully too, and today woken up with a pounding headache which is making me queasy, also had another stabbing pain when I turned over to go to sleep last night

Urgh 😩

fawnhound · 01/05/2021 09:28

@flowersatthecastle @Horehound @Sair44411 @Em39ma thank you for all your nice comments, I'm really lucky to have a lovely family too. On the very close friend front I total empathise how they feel and they are beautiful people so will tiptoe through

Amy2406 · 01/05/2021 09:42

Hi I am new on mums net so not sure if I am writing in the correct place, apologies if I am not, I should be 5 weeks pregnant, hubby and I have been trying for about a year, I am 26 he is 39 on the day i was expecting my period i got a light bleeding that only lasted that evening, got 3 positive pregnancy test the next day on the 21st of April,(2 clear blue digital showing 2-3, and 1 answer test) 2 days later I went to A&e as i was having cramps as if my period was coming, they told me I was not pregnant, after doing me a urine test with a strip, i started crying and asked for a blood test, they refused one and said the strips are as equal as good, and ask me to pee again, this time came with a very light line, said i may be pregnant, sent me home "to let nature take it's course" pain has settled but so far i have not experienced that many symptoms, i tested again 3 days after a&e both test answer and clear blue digital came positive, a week from a&e today i took another test (answer) and the line is very light pink. I am worrying as I have no sickness, in the first few days i was starving but that has settled a little bit, some cramps here and then, I'm cold all the time, bloated, white CM (sorry tmi) and I'm so tired all the time sleeping +12 hours. I haven't bled anymore since what i think could have been implantation bleeding, Has anyone experienced something similar and had successful pregnancies? Thank you x

AnonymousXXIX · 01/05/2021 10:14

Welcome @fawnhound & @twentynineteen!

That sounds like what people describe as implantation bleeding @Amy2406. But I am no expert! Frustratingly, waiting a few days to see how it goes seems like the best thing to do. I can tell you I had lots of cramps at the start (no bleeding so far though) and also a fair bit of cm. No other symptoms so far (6+1 today according to my calculations). My tests during week 4-5 came back super light, and the lines only started to get darker this week. Obviously I can't tell you whether I am a success story though at this stage. But echoing the mumsnet crew: it's different for everyone!

Pineapple87 · 01/05/2021 10:15

@Amy2406
Welcome, and sorry to hear about your experience at the hospital, I’m no expert and haven’t had a similar issues, i think maybe waiting a bit longer to do another year maybe in a week?
There could be many reasons why the tests are coming up positive then faint.
I wish you all the best and we are here if you need us Xx maybe someone else has also been experiencing what you are and they can shed more light Xx

Pineapple87 · 01/05/2021 10:16

Test not year** X

Amy2406 · 01/05/2021 10:34

Thank you for your replies, @Pineapple87 and @AnonymousXXIX I just joined the community and already feel so supported x it is very frustrating, please provide updates if you feel comfortable to about the progress of your pregnancy, I wish you both the best, i scheduled and early assurance scan for Wednesday so hopefully i have a bit more clarity then.

Pineapple87 · 01/05/2021 10:43

@Amy2406 good luck for your scan and let us know how you get on.
I’m 6+4 today, second child, my first is nearly 14, so this forum has been so useful, I was 19 when I was pregnant before so everything has changed I’m checking the internet everyday, I didn’t use the net when I had my daughter, but now I get a cram or anything and find myself googling, but I’ve had all the symptoms so I’m not too worried but very grateful I have this forum Xx

TakeYourFinalPosition · 01/05/2021 10:46

@Amy2406 Sorry to hear you’ve had troubles Flowers

Be really careful with the early scan. I had one from the EPU at exactly 6 weeks this week, and it was the least reassuring thing ever.... it’s so early that they can’t see much, and it’s unusual to see the heartbeat that early, so they basically said they couldn’t confirm a viable pregnancy. It took until yesterday for me to calm down from all the extra anxiety that caused... I thought we’d choose to have an early scan but I completely see why they recommend that you wait for 8 weeks now.

I’ve got another scan to check 2 weeks after the first, as they said a week isn’t enough at this stage. I was desperate for there to be an answer that isn’t just waiting it out, but there’s not. I think I’ve searched the whole internet Grin

It’s really hard, but they are right that it’s just waiting. I don’t have many symptoms either, it’s an odd time.

Best of luck Flowers

Hxoxox · 01/05/2021 10:55

I have an early scan tomorrow I should be 7 weeks exactly but there could be a chance of me being a bit earlier depending on how long implantation took. I was in two minds if it was a good idea but I just can't hold off for 12 weeks. I don't understand why clinics offer early scans if it's too early to see anything.

Birchwoods · 01/05/2021 10:58

Hi everyone, please can I join?

I had a scan yesterday and the baby measured 12mm. I put myself at 7+6 so scan just about corresponds with that. EDD around 12th Dec.

I've had four miscarriages in the past two years (3 MMC and 1 CP) so definitely not counting my chickens yet as I've had positive early scans before and then by the next one it's gone wrong.

I'll be 38 this month and have a daughter who will be 6 in August. Is there anyone else who will have a big age gap between their children? I'm nervous about going back to baby days as life is so much easier now!

I hope everyone is doing okay. My boobs have doubled in size and are so painful, and I can't stop eating!

jdr1234 · 01/05/2021 11:07

I think early scans can provide lots of reassurance between finding out at 4/5 weeks and 12 weeks however I think if you can wait till you are at least 7.4 by your dates to go as even if you are a whole week out you will should still see a heartbeat.
I went at 7 plus 4 and they measured me at 6 plus 6 but it didn’t matter as still was an external and heartbeat heard/seen.

jdr1234 · 01/05/2021 11:09

Ps I’m now 9 weeks plus 2 by my dates and scan yesterday measured 9 plus 1 so the dates till 12 weeks are not accurate.

Amy2406 · 01/05/2021 11:12

I think I may reschedule my scan for another 2 weeks, @TakeYourFinalPosition and @Hxoxox hope everything goes well in the scans coming up x @Birchwoods it must have been so beautiful to see your baby, I hope everything goes well for you too x

TakeYourFinalPosition · 01/05/2021 11:24

@jdr1234 According to the BMJ, the chances of seeing a heartbeat before 7 weeks are less than 30%, and it’s even less externally. I seem to have seen everyone who did though Grin I’m glad you did!

I think the concern is that it’ll worry people who aren’t in that 20%, for no reason, because you just couldn’t see it yet. And a lot depends on how good the scan equipment is, and the body shape of the mother, I believe.

@Hxoxox I was the same, I thought you’d definitely be able to see something if they offered scans. I’ve talked to six clinics this week... all lovely, but all recommended not coming this early, and said you won’t see much (but they’re happy to do it if you’re happy to pay).

@Amy2406 Its totally up to you, but having had a scan and not seen what I wanted... it made me SO much more anxious than I was before, and I didn’t even think that was possible. They were nice, and pointed out that the heartbeat could have started being visible the next day... but even the private places won’t do scans within 7 days of another one, and they often ask for at least 14 days between scans, which made it worse!

I’m counting down to the scan, but overall I’m glad I didn’t book one for today. I was on the booking page for hours 🙈

TakeYourFinalPosition · 01/05/2021 11:25

Sorry, I was sipping ginger tea and screwed up my numbers there Blush

Dreamer30 · 01/05/2021 11:27

I don't want to start another thread for this but has anyone had any brown spotting? I had it the day my period was due then the day after then it stopped. Got a positive CBD on Sunday saying 1-2 weeks. Then on Thursday I done a cheapie as a sort of keepsake and there wasn't a line. Done another CBD yesterday and it says 1-2 still but I'm 5w+2 today. Started spotting on Thu and still am. Got the worst feeling!

Hxoxox · 01/05/2021 11:36

Yeah that's another concern of mine as I'm overweight and have a bit of a belly! Hopefully if they can't see anything on ultrasound they would offer me a transvaginal? I'm soooo nervous

TakeYourFinalPosition · 01/05/2021 12:23

@Hxoxox I think it depends where you go, and who sees you.

How far gone will you be? I’ve been told by eight weeks, you should be able to see on the monitor even if the picture quality isn’t great, so I was holding out for then, although the waiting is killing me!

And some people do see much earlier. Personally I’m already anxious so I think it’s better for me to play safe than worry for two weeks after if it’s slightly too early, but it’s a really personal call and I really hope you get a good look ❤️

@Dreamer30 It’s pretty common to have spotting - 50% of pregnancies do, and it’s especially common around 5 weeks, apparently. I was told that if it’s not getting heavier or accompanied by painful cramps, it’s likely to be fine. The worry is the worst, though! Rest up if you can x
