Hello ladies,
So I thought I'd put together a new thread for us (as you've probably seen in the main group). I thought this could be like a sub group (or side car as Haiyaa suggested) so we can chat about all things pregnancy without feeling that maybe we're overwhelming the TTC board.

I definitely don't want to leave the main bus and I know you all feel the same as we've created a amazing community of women supporting women... most people have said their ok with pregnancy chat but I know some are struggling with it and the shift in proportion of TTC vs BFPs, and we all know how hard it is to see too much pregnancy talk sometimes, especially if the journey has been long, as it has been for some. So I thought, lets be sensative to everyone's needs and have another option Flowers

I'm cautious about setting up a bus given I'm so so early but as I suggested it, I thought it best come from me Smile I am happy to set up the threads but I dont have a great urge to be the bus driver (haha) so if anyone else wants to chip in setting up subseqeunt buses then I'd be happy yo share the responsibility!

Please tag anyone that I may have missed - I tried to go through the board to get any recent BFPs but I could have missed someone easily and theres ALOT haha.

Let's have a little update on everyone to get started...

@Kirky658 you should try one of those dome dog beds.... might encourage sleeping longer 🤷🏻‍♀️ we got one for the boyo as he's a soft pointer and they feel the cold so thought a covered one would keep him cosy.... dafty just sleeps on top of it 🙈😂
So pretty, I went for a walk (definitely not a run) up to the loch behind our house... bit grey and Misty but if I didn't go I was just going to fall asleep 🙈

@gem176 that's not a bad idea actually. Shame we got him a bed recently it was bloody expensive too! Our only other solution is to let him sleep in the lounge as we've at least got curtains but it backs onto the orangery so again the light would be a problem.

Anyone else with dogs worried about how they'll behave once baby arrives?

Gem176 · 25/03/2021 15:17

@Kirky658 my only concern is how big he is, with a tail that whacks about of its own accord! Not overly worried about behaviour for a few reasons

  1. He's the softest lump of a dog I've ever known, we had dogs throughout my childhood and as an adult two as pets of my own.
  2. Despite that I would never trust him. It's just the rule of thumb never trust a dog with a child.
  3. Despite his soft nature he is not a toy, dd is allowed to cuddle with him on the couch as we do, she knows not to lie on him, climb on him or put her face to his. It was difficult when she was really small as she loves animals and instantly wanted to pet all dogs but from a very young age (toddling outside of buggy) she knew not to approach any dog. They get it if it's taught from tiny. A gentle pat on the head is ok if they ask the owner first. Most owners know their dogs well enough and so many were genuinely impressed when if they said "sorry, no, he's not that friendly" that she would just smile and wave from a distance.
Kirky658 · 25/03/2021 15:24

@gem176 bless her your DD sounds adorable 😍 and doggo as well obvs. I'm a bit concerned about ours as he's only 8 months. He hasn't had much interaction round kiddies as we got him in lockdown. One thing he is not though is a vicious dog. He will be noisy but that's about it. My main worries are:

  1. he will hate not being centre of attention and act out
  2. he will go for the baby as it's new to him
  3. his routine will be disrupted as the baby will wake him at night, then he will Bark to be let out

I'm not overly worried but it's a big adjustment isn't it!

Haiyaa · 25/03/2021 15:26

Love the dog pic 🥰 @Gem176

@Kirky658 my SIL has a huge dog who is usually very boisterous but actually after some initial excitement he has calmed down a lot. I think it’s just important not to leave them alone where the dog might reach them just in case but soon enough baby will be terrorising the dog 😂

Been to the acupuncturist today, we are switching from fertility to “support and hold”. She also said my pulse felt slippery which is indicative of pregnancy which was good.

Gem176 · 25/03/2021 15:57

@Kirky658 huge adjustment especially at only 8 months old and not having had the same opportunities for socialisation thanks to the 'rona. Suppose the best you can do is start setting out the baby's things a few weeks before so pup has a chance to get used to all the new "stuff" and get DH to take home a baby grow while you are in hospital so he has a chance to get to know baby's smell?
In fairness she was an absolute dream (still sort of is but oh my the attitude of a teen at 7 🙈), cute as a button with a fair bit of sass but the sense to know what was a definite rule and what could be pushed! That drove me mad! But one slobbery kiss and a cuddle and I went from edge of checking myself in somewhere to blissful again 😂

@Haiyaa he's my boy and I just love him! Possibly didn't like him very much when he decided to shake all the lovely cold water over me but all is forgiven now 😂

Justanothercyster · 25/03/2021 16:30

Ahhh we've just had an email from school saying our local practice is offering us vaccines as they are left over. I can't have one now can I?

Haiyaa · 25/03/2021 16:44

@Justanothercyster I would speak to the GP, they usually weigh it up against what your exposure is likely to be and any underlying health conditions that may worsen the outcomes if you were to get covid. There are plenty of women choosing to get the vaccine whilst pregnant but others choose not to. Either is fine. I’ve had my first jab plus covid at the start of the year and now under pressure to think what I will do as due my next at end of April and will barely be 8 weeks, but if I had not had first jab/covid then I would probably go for it (but maybe after 12 weeks, although there is no evidence that it is preferable to have the jab during a particular trimester).

Gem176 · 25/03/2021 16:57

@Justanothercyster I'm group 6 so was called for my jab this week, when I called my gp and asked they wouldn't do it as pregnant despite being considered in an at risk group due to type 1 diabetes. I thought they might have as I was now in the second trimester. I was refused it through work back in February because of pregnancy also.

Justanothercyster · 25/03/2021 17:11

Thanks @Haiyaa and @Gem176 I'm meeting my midwife on Saturday so will speak to them then about it all. Im keeping as far away from the kids as possible (stands with back against the wall) so hopefully I'll be ok 🤞🏼

Kate105 · 25/03/2021 18:32

Another secondary teacher here @Justanothercyster 🙋🏼‍♀️ it's completely knackering! Was actually quite relieved to be WFH for the first few weeks, I was really laid low in the mornings and there's no way I'd have made it into school every day!

Another one for the scar chat, I had keyhole surgery in September and I've been having all sorts of niggles basically from day 1. My bellybutton scar in particular got a bit sore until I started slapping on the moisturiser!

I'm not massively tired but still getting these horrific waves of dizziness and nausea. Nearly hurled over Y11 today 😂 when does the glow kick in please?!

Kirky658 · 25/03/2021 18:44

@kate105 I also had laparoscopic surgery last June and I think my belly is deffo stretching and pushing and pulling. Doesn't help that the endometriosis I had removed was on the uterosacral ligaments that hold the uterus in place so I'm well prepared for those to be sore 😩 think that's why I'm being seen by a consultant in May according to my midwife at 25 wks.

I would also like to know ehne the glow arrives hahahaha!!! My DH is a teacher and I think he is coming out in sympathy, he's always tired and headachy bless him like me!

Justanothercyster · 25/03/2021 19:02

@Kate105 ah yes I'm secondary too haha. The nausea hasn't been so bad this week but I'm really glad Easter is around the corner because I just teach half asleep atm 😴

Bloody cramps are back again making me feel anxious 😤

Sausage1990 · 25/03/2021 19:46

Hi girls sorry I've been quiet today, had a busy work day and I've been hit by the biggest fatigue wave since coming home. I've had to have a nap and now I'm just laying in bed feeling a bit sick with indegestion and trying to get the enthusiasm to try to make some actual food which doesn't sound good.

I honestly don't know how you guys are doing it in work, especially secondary school @justanothercyster @kate105... Last time I was off work due to my mental health and when I did go back at 9 weeks ish I was on a phased return so literally a 2-3 half days (before the MC) so god only knows how I'm going to cope this time. The 24/7 nausea is hard work when you spend all day talking to people about food and sometimes just the thought of food makes you gag 🤢 I'm at that point right now where I don't really have symptoms yet so I want them so I know things are happening but getting waves of it and remembering how shit it was 🙈

Has anyone had indegestion form the word go? I did last time and I do again already, and I don't know what to do about it, it's not something I've struggled with outside of pregnancy really.

Hope you're all ok xx

Actually my biggest issue about being back to school is that it’s very inconvenient trying to fit all my snack requirements around lesson times 😂 thanks to COVID some days I don’t get lunch until 1:30 and it is genuinely a miracle that I haven’t vomited publicly or killed a child... The hanger is real and I’m hungry every couple of hours now. Does anyone else get this? It’s really freaking me out because normally I am not a snacker! But if I don’t eat the nausea comes back...

Kate105 · 25/03/2021 19:58

As for the indigestion @Sausage1990 all I can suggest is little and often! I seem to get heartburn if I’ve stuffed in too much at once 😳

Kirky658 · 25/03/2021 20:11

@sausage1990 sorry you're feeling a bit rough lovely! I haven't had a lot of indigestion just sometimes certain things set me off x

Sausage1990 · 25/03/2021 20:26

@kate105 yes I had to eat little & often last time, constantly grazing. I often felt hungry but actually got full really quickly so couldn't eat much which was really annoying.

Thanka both @kate105 @kirky685 I've done some research and rich foods, fstty foods, spicy foods can make it worse, also onions, tomatoes & chocolate. So I think I'm going to try to be a bit more mindful of my good choices and see if it's better.

Sausage1990 · 25/03/2021 20:28

Although I've already gone off chocolate. I fancy some and I have like a cube and it's too sickly. So that shouldn't be too hard to avoid. I just need to eat healthier and get some veggies in before my symptoms kick in at 6weeks (all being well) x

OP posts:
Justanothercyster · 25/03/2021 20:35

@Kate105 yes! I keep a snack drawer so that I can snack during the movement break between lessons, helps a lot!

@Sausage1990 agree with others just little and often and avoid certain foods. That's so funny, I'm off chocolate too which is bizarre as I'm such a chocoholic.

DJmum83 · 25/03/2021 20:58

Hi everyone

Just finished a double shift and omg I am knackered.

Feeling really low today I had worked so hard at slimming world and lost nearly 3 stone. My gran made a comment on how fat I'm looking already it's really upset me. I weighed myself and I have put on 2 stone ( 1 stone since falling pregnant) really getting me down my weight.

Xx

Thinkingandblinking · 25/03/2021 21:10

@DJmum83 trust your gran to say something like that, it’s like nannas have no filter! Honestly though don’t stress, it’s natural to put on weight even in water retention! Plenty of time for running with the sports buggy 😝 get your self tucked up and snuggly double shift has to have been a shocker!

Thinkingandblinking · 25/03/2021 21:12

Also does been a general mardy cow count as a symptom...I’ve taken myself to bed as I’m annoying even me...😂

Kirky658 · 25/03/2021 21:26

Eurgh ladies feeling vile... Sorry tmi I coming! Suddenly started with upset tummy type pains. Sat on the loo, couldn't co, but keep passing wind. Tummy is gurgling away. Can't see I've eaten anything that would have set it off either 😔

DJmum83 · 25/03/2021 21:59

@Kirky658 can be just pregnancy either constipated or the runs.
Should pass by the morning xx
