Minster's Side car bumping along - TTC Graduates Bus 1

Hello ladies,
So I thought I'd put together a new thread for us (as you've probably seen in the main group). I thought this could be like a sub group (or side car as Haiyaa suggested) so we can chat about all things pregnancy without feeling that maybe we're overwhelming the TTC board.

I definitely don't want to leave the main bus and I know you all feel the same as we've created a amazing community of women supporting women... most people have said their ok with pregnancy chat but I know some are struggling with it and the shift in proportion of TTC vs BFPs, and we all know how hard it is to see too much pregnancy talk sometimes, especially if the journey has been long, as it has been for some. So I thought, lets be sensative to everyone's needs and have another option Flowers

I'm cautious about setting up a bus given I'm so so early but as I suggested it, I thought it best come from me Smile I am happy to set up the threads but I dont have a great urge to be the bus driver (haha) so if anyone else wants to chip in setting up subseqeunt buses then I'd be happy yo share the responsibility!

Please tag anyone that I may have missed - I tried to go through the board to get any recent BFPs but I could have missed someone easily and theres ALOT haha.

Let's have a little update on everyone to get started...

Aww sounds lovely @DJmum83 your lovely boy how cute!

@2020mission have you had more spotting? Or has it stopped now?

2020mission · 10/05/2021 09:13

@Minster2012 didn't notice any spotting yesterday 🤞 the fact I'm feeling sick and it hasn't progressed to a proper bleed after a week is giving me hope. I do know my cervix is prone to irritation after my smear examination in March. The doctor had said then it was red and had a bit of blood on it and that it's usually down to a hormone imbalance (excess estrogen) which she said was common in pregnancy or those on hormonal contraceptives. Given that my hormones have likely surged recently when the sick feeling kicked in it may very well just be that. As soon as I have a number for a midwife I'll let her know about it but didn't want to hassle the EPU when I'm not in pain or properly bleeding. How's your head today?

2020mission · 10/05/2021 09:15

Lots of baby girl guesses here haha I bet we all end up with boys!

DJmum83 · 10/05/2021 09:25

@TTCAbroad I never found out with my first and I was 100 she was a boy even had a blue teddy but she was a girl, the rest I found out at 16 weeks with.
I was so convinced this one was a boy because of sickness same as my boy, but my waxing lady who has 3 girls and a boy. Said I'll eat hot wax if that's not a girl after looking at my scan so the last couple weeks Iv been convinced girl.
My second girl is very Tom boy likes to wear boys clothes and hates being called a girl so hopefully this one will be girlie like my oldest.

@Minster2012 how's the head? Is scan this week?

@2020mission glad no more spotting, my sister in law had massive bleeds with her 1st and all was ok with her wee girl. Have you got a scan booked?

@Kirky658 love the Pram, I'm not sure what to do I have a babystyle prestige it's mostly white but the bottom is sky blue I got for my boy last time, I love that Pram it's so lovely to push but hubby says you can't put her in a blue Pram 🤷‍♀️

@lucyrp seen your picture on insta you look stunning wish I looked like you when I was pregnant. I def think girl for you.

I have my 16 week check with midwives today. Consultant has said I'm to go on clexane injections from 22 weeks due to my bmi and age 😭 baby will be coming at 37 weeks by section again and I'll be getting steroid injections.
So will see what midwives say.

Xxx

2020mission · 10/05/2021 09:33

@DJmum83 I haven't booked a private scan... yet. I was going to but it said it wanted you to pay most of it when booking and given that miscarriage can happen I didn't want to be hit with both a baby and money loss. My plan is to get to 8 weeks (next Wednesday) and then try and book a last minute private scan if there's any slot available. The price drops from £70 to £45 if I wait until 8 weeks (thanks to @lucyrp for pointing that out!), I should be more likely to see something by 8 weeks too and avoid an internal scan - last thing I want is someone poking around in there when I've been spotting! My NHS scan is booked for the 17th June so quite far away still. I haven't figured out who you are on Instagram yet. I'm probably just not following you though 😅

Kirky658 · 10/05/2021 09:34

@2020mission I had that same cervix irritation whilst on the pill - it's called a cervical ectropion 😊

lucyrp · 10/05/2021 09:34

@DJmum83 I bought a silver cross wayfarer in blue and I didn't know what sex I was having and would have been happy if it was a girl I just loved the colour!
Aww thank you that's so lovely of you to say! Most people have guessed girl! Xxx

lucyrp · 10/05/2021 09:41

@2020mission you do follow me! You liked my picture 🤣 no problem! There was no way I could have afford the £70 for the first scan but I was cheeky and waited. They did say I should have had a viability scan before hand but it was fine that I hadn't. Mine was abdominal too☺️

2020mission · 10/05/2021 09:52

@lucyrp haha sorry that wasn't clear I meant I was unsure of @DJmum83 on Instagram. Definitely know who you are on it 😃 you were the easiest to guess with such similar names on here and there! I have a feeling they will say the same to me at the ultrasound as they are missing out on the extra cash but worth a go 😅

lucyrp · 10/05/2021 09:55

@2020mission yeah you don't follow @DJmum83 yet! Yeah I definitely am not much of a secret 🙈😂 you should be fine! The ladies were really lovely when I went and I did actually ring before hand and check and the woman annoyed me a little bit but thought oh well 🙈

Kirky658 · 10/05/2021 10:01

I'm still struggling to guess who people are on insta 🤔 when I see some of you following them I'm like well must be mumsnet ladies haha ❤️

Sausage1990 · 10/05/2021 11:38

Hia girls...

So I've spoken to the hospital and we've opted for surgical management. I have to have a covid swab tomorrow morning and then it can take 48hrs to come back so I will hopefully have the surgery on Thursday. I've then gota isolate until I go in. They will talk me through the process for Thursday when I see them tomorrow as I have to sign consent forms.

I asked questions about what to do if anything happens naturally and she gave some advice about collecting the pregnancy tissues if it's out of hours, but to call epu if it's within hours. I don't think it will happen naturally but it was good to go through it just incase.

I'm feeling quite emotional since the call, feels a bit real now. But I'm going to go out today to get all my bits an pieces I will need to make my hospital trip & recovery at home more comfortable.

Has anyone else had the surgical management for a previous miscarriage? Any advice or tips on what made things easier?

I've not kept up properly with things but I hope you're all well xxx

So sad to read this @Sausage1990 but I'm glad they have spoke to you and you have a plan in place. Can't imagine what it's like as I've always miscarried very early on and so it wasn't much different from a period. Is this a different approach they are taking from the last time? Hopefully someone here can share some advice. You really do seem to be holding it together really well considering 💕 its so cruel. Big hugs!

Sausage1990 · 10/05/2021 12:25

@2020mission I think I'm in a bit of shock still and the only way I'm coping atm is to plan. I'm hoping the next few days I will be able to come to terms with what's happened/happening a bit better. Its just very surreal that this is happening again tbh. I feel like my life has been turned upside down.... 3 weeks ago my 1st baby should have been born and now I've gota deal with loosing my 2nd baby. I just can't get my head around it. I'm just doing whatever I can to cope atm. I'm sure it will hit me really hard soon.

Yeah this time will be different to last time. Last time I opted for the medication where I had to have a vagical pessary & oral tablets to induce the miscarriage. Essentially start the contractions and help dilate the cervix so the baby & pregnancy could come away. Unfortunately I had issues with retained placenta for weeks and then a uterus infection due to the retained tissue. So it was very very drawn out and traumatic. This time I'll be knocked out and have the baby & pregnancy removed by the Dr so when I wake up it will be done. There will still be bleeding & cramping but not the same as before. This way is easier for getting the sample for testing too. X

@Sausage1990 Ahh yes I remember you being in hospital for it last time. As awful as this whole thing is it sounds like what you're opting for will be better this time so you can get through it all quicker. I honestly didn't believe this would happen to you a second time 🙁 such a shock when I read your post. I'm sure they will be able to investigate though and offer help so that this doesn't ever happen again. You will get your rainbow 🌈 it will be worth the wait when he/she is finally here. Keep strong!

Sausage1990 · 10/05/2021 12:37

@2020mission I know. Its just unbelievable isn't it. I'm hoping we'll get some answers too, I mean we can't guarantee we will but at the very least we can try. Definitely don't want to go through this again. Whenever we get blessed with our rainbow he or she will be so loved. Although that day feels very far away atm. X

@Sausage1990 I don't like to compare them but when I had a termination I haemorrhaged so then had to have the surgical management and that was the easiest part of it for me. Much easier than medicated as I had to have that first and it didn't work which is why I then haemorrhaged. I was put under and just remember waking up in recovery and not being able to tell that anything had happened. Obviously the psychological element is much harder but the actual management itself I found okay. Xxx

Asthenia · 10/05/2021 13:45

@Sausage1990 I am so, so sorry to read your update, how awful for you and your partner. I hope you’re as OK as can be at the moment. Sending love xxx

Minster2012 · 10/05/2021 15:57

Sorry didn't seem to get the tags!

@2020mission that's great the spotting has stopped and I think you are right so I'm sure it's the irritation, can't believe you've got your scan date already! How did the scan drop to £45? Scans round us are £79 😬

@DJmum83 thanks the head is fine today, back to symptomless 🤣scan weds morning 🤞🏻2 more sleeps, I'm sorry you are being put on the clexane

Thinkingandblinking · 10/05/2021 15:57

@Sausage1990 I think your doing amazing and all the right things. I would just make sure you sign the form for karyotyping before you go in, insist it has to go for testing.

I would say magazines or book as you have to wait about for pessary to soften the cervix! Also I had the evening planned for when I got home, Chinese on the sofa and a film, it was like a focus for me. I also had plans for days following to force me to get out, but I think this is very personal and you just have to get through the next few weeks as best you can!

You will have your rainbow baby, it will happen xxxxx

2020mission · 10/05/2021 16:23

@Minster2012 they told me the booking appointment date and first scan date when I called the Glasgow & Clyde maternity self referral booking phone line to book in. Not the same with NHS England? £45 is the cheapest I've found for an ultrasound - it's a business called Ultrasound Direct. Maybe they have a branch near you? For some reason the 8-16 week reassurance scan is £45 but the early scan is around £70. I'm assuming the scan will be a matter of minutes but I don't really mind all I want is to know there's a baby in there with a heartbeat and I'll be happy with that 😅 even if they don't print me a photo!

lucyrp · 10/05/2021 16:34

@2020mission they will print you a photo I think I got 3! They also send a link to your phone and you can download their app and the link will take you to your scans and you get to keep them all on the app forever 🥰

DJmum83 · 10/05/2021 18:15

@Sausage1990 my heart is breaking for you, you are being so strong. Can't imagine what you are going through.
My best friend went through the same as you at Xmas and it went on for weeks she said she would pick the same as you if it happened again.
Sending so much love to you.
Plenty of reading material and a nice take away and film cuddled up with hubby when you get home.
You will have your rainbow baby and it will mean all the more.
Lots of love xxx
