@Jl2020 Like others have said, Paracetemol is fine to take in pregnancy, it's just Ibruprofen to avoid. I take Paracetemol daily because of stupid Migraines. Only started since I got pregnant grrr..

Garman · 27/03/2021 20:00

@jl2020 you can take paracetamol, but also you can use saline spray for your sinuses, definitely try that instead of suffering needlessly.

Jl2020 · 27/03/2021 20:37

@MyGrassIsBrowner @Garman thanks ladies.
Have taken a couple of paracetamol and will be going to get some nasal spray tomorrow x

milkyway91 · 27/03/2021 20:37

@MF1981 Happy belated birthday!
@Jl2020 I've taken the odd paracetamol but like everyone else I try to limit the usage. I'm a pharmacist and we often use this resource to advise doctors /patients as to the safety of certain meds:
medicinesinpregnancy.org/About-Us/
If you click on leaflets, you can find information on lots of medicines. Obviously, this doesn't replace advice of a healthcare professional but gives you a rough idea as to whether you might wanna chat to your gp about it etc.
Right enough work talk 🤓... DH has been sent out to search for my most recent craving- a fruit corner yoghurt. Poor sod. The worst thing is, I think I've talked myself out of wanting it now.... Haha
Hope everyone starts feeling less icky and full of cold. Rest up ladies- we are doing a super job growing little people!

Cpr12 · 27/03/2021 21:31

@milkyway91 I dragged my husband on a90 min walk to get milkshake and doughnuts today. Stood outside in the freezing cold for 25mins waiting. Got to the front of the queue and decided I didnt want them anymore. Thought he was going to kill me 😂😂. I hope you managed the yoghurt when he got in!

Jessica86Shropshire · 27/03/2021 21:39

So pleased to find you all again!

I had my NIPT app (Harmony test via Ultra Direct) today with the scan confirming I was 11wks 6ds Smile. Has anyone else had their NIPT and/or their results yet?

milkyway91 · 27/03/2021 22:22

@Cpr12 it lived up to expectations! Absolutely amazing. He has brought back a number of his own cravings too- don't think he gets how this works haha.

I just told him your milkshake story and he was like 'don't you dare!' 😂

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/03/2021 02:17

Loling at all your stories ladies 🤣
Our partners really go through it don't they! My DH loves cooking and the poor soul hasn't been able to cook for us for weeks as I'm living off pretty much soup thanks to hurrendous nausea! Hoping it's gonna pass soon as I'm really struggling 😫

Jl2020 · 28/03/2021 09:57

@milkyway91 thankyou for that link it's definitely useful!

Loving all your craving stories😂 I have had no cravings at all yet, have definitely lost my appetite these last few days though as can't taste anything anyway!

Cpr12 · 28/03/2021 10:01

@jessica86shropshire wonderful, was that your first scan seeing the little one? I haven't had my scan or test yet, a week on Wednesday. Although had early scans, but still nervous for the next!

@milkyway91 glad you enjoyed it! And hopefully your husband now thinks you are extremely reasonable after telling him my story haha!

@mygrassisbrowner how far gone are you? My nausea has gone, but still not enjoying food. Last time I was 15 weeks when O really enjoyed a meal, so only 4 weeks to go!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/03/2021 11:34

@Cpr12 I'm 12+1 now. With my first the nausea hit at 14 weeks but I was baaaaad.. been sick 3 or 4 times a day for at least two weeks then one day I woke up and was fine. This time my nausea kicked in around 6 weeks but that's all it's been is nausea.. not sure what's worse tbh 🤔

Jessica86Shropshire · 28/03/2021 12:02

@Cpr12 this was my NIPT scan but I was further along than I should be (according to period dating) so when I get my NHS one I'll be 13 weeks 1d. Heart still beating and all looked okay - thank goodness. I feel so anxious all the time.

MustStopSnacking28 · 28/03/2021 12:03

Can I ask if any of you have considered having the COVID jab whilst pregnant or have had any advice about it? I am on immunosuppressants for Crohn’s disease and unsure what to do about the jab. They seem to be offering it more freely to pregnant women in the US but not sure if that’s a good or bad thing!

SECNAA · 28/03/2021 12:30

@MustStopSnacking28 I work in the nhs so had my first jab before I was pregnant. I was due my second but my trust is not giving them to anyone pregnant. It’s scary because obviously covid is a risk, especially if you’re immunocompromised. But they don’t have any research yet into the vaccine in pregnancy.

Have you had your first one?

MustStopSnacking28 · 28/03/2021 14:03

Hi @SECNAA thanks for getting back to me. That’s interesting - my friend who is also pregnant has been advised by the trust she works for to get the second jab, she had the first before she was pregnant. I haven’t had the first one yet and haven’t even been called but expecting to be soon. I am seeing a consultant when I have my scan on 9th so maybe they will advise...

SECNAA · 28/03/2021 14:10

@MustStopSnacking28 I guess it’s getting all the evidence together and weighing up the risks isn’t. There are people who’ve had the vaccine not knowing they have been pregnant who are fine (going back to when they started the trials last year) which is positive.
For me it’s just the unknown I’m not willing to risk I think. But I’m lucky I’ve had my first so covered 75-80% already. I would definitely think more if I’d not had it at all x

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/03/2021 15:56

I'm definitely not having the jab now I'm pregnant but I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm gonna have to lay low now until I have baby. I've been housebound pretty much since the first lockdown with just trips to the supermarket and occassional walks so meh, I'm kind of used to it now lol. Do feel sorry for my DD though as she hasn't seen much of life just yet.

Cpr12 · 28/03/2021 17:21

@jessica86shropshire lovely! And even better when you date ahead haha! So glad it went well. It is all such a worry!

Such a hard decision if you are really relying on the vaccine. I do believe they are currently doing tests on it in america so hopefully there will be some further info soon. You will defo get some advice from the midwife though.

MeltingSnowflake · 29/03/2021 05:58

I think there has just been a promising trial on pregnant women in Israel, the babies born with antibodies, but i think it was just a small trial. It was in the Guardian recently, I’ll try to dig up the link 👍🏻

MeltingSnowflake · 29/03/2021 06:10

Ok, it wasn’t Israel it was the Us - I can’t find the article I read, but this is about the same trial:

www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/6979881002

Tiny though so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Pfizer is doing a trial with 4000 pregnant women currently, but those results will probably too late for us!

On balance, I’d probably have it if I was offered, but I really don’t know.

MustStopSnacking28 · 29/03/2021 08:01

Thank you @MeltingSnowflake that is interesting. I will see what the consultant says as well but it certainly seems like the Pfizer one is promising, even though it’s a small number. Although we don’t have a choice here do we!

Jelliestogether · 29/03/2021 08:22

@MustStopSnacking28
So as a nurse I've been offered it but I've decided that as I'm otherwise low risk, I will be not having the vaccine until the baby is here as personally I think the unknown risk is too great. But its such a personal decision, and comes down to individual risk

Missreginafalange · 29/03/2021 08:30

I have my scan on Wednesday, have also been offered the vaccine. Going to talk to the docs at the hospital and get their opinion. I am leaning towards the side of getting it done have done a lot of research and reading up on it these last few days.

I'll let you all know what the hospital say about it, they must be having these convos every day and pretty informed, in case anyone is needing to make the same decision

milkyway91 · 29/03/2021 10:23

@Jessica86Shropshire what a great scan! Bet you're so pleased 🥰
I feel like I'm waiting forever for my 12 week scan. Getting really anxious about it actually! Started randomly crying last night and had this constant reminder that I don't know what I'm doing. Haha.
Husband gave me a cuddle which made me feel better but I'm still feeling a little lost. Hormones eh!?

@MustStopSnacking28 I got covid on the 22nd December and felt terrible... Wasn't allowed my vaccine until 4 weeks after I was diagnosed, little did I know that I conceived in those 4 weeks! Husband and I have been trying for a baby for years and the doctor said my body was so busy fighting covid that it allowed us to conceive haha. They've told me not to have my second vaccine, but I'm still glad I had my first. Maybe this is why I'm so anxious about my scan! Ha

pixiedust21 · 29/03/2021 15:54

Seriously ladies what is everyone managing to eat??

I'm nearly 12 weeks (eeek!) and while I should feel lucky I haven't had any sickness i've just had kind of constant low level feeling crap and being off so many foods.... don't know what I want or when, particularly struggling with the sight of veg!!

Meals are very difficult and I'm looking forward to feeling a bit more normal again in that sense.

Hope everyone doing well.... first scan on Saturday eeeee Smile
