Made a new thread for us as we were coming to the end of the previous one!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TheViewOutsideMyWindow · 24/03/2021 12:40

I'm due 28th but awaiting an ELCS date for sometime between 12th and 26th April.

clb8921 · 24/03/2021 12:56

I’m due 20th April. 36+1 weeks today. Still feels a lifetime away! Although I am still working so happy for them to stay put a few weeks 😊

BaaHumbugg · 24/03/2021 13:18

Good luck to everyone due soon, I'm not due until the 25th so not sure how long I have left as last one was early. Still doesn't seem real to me!

LuckygoLucy · 24/03/2021 13:50

A nice mix of dates. I'm slightly jealous of you guys due soon Wink I was originally booked in for 7th of April but since moving hospital it's now 12th unless it changes based on scan as previously mentioned. Which puts me at 39 + 5 by there maths 40 + by mine lol. Feeling pretty wiped out, decided it was a really good idea to put together some flat pack furniture as meant to have mil staying when baby arrives and she needs a bed and DH is rubbish!! X

LuckyFlash · 24/03/2021 16:30

I’m due on the 11th. The last few days I’ve been getting bad period type pains, really bad back ache and pelvic pain. The baby feels a lot more squirmy and active too. Really hoping it’s my body gearing up to go, I’m not sure I can cope feeling like this for more than a couple more weeks! I knew I would be uncomfortable at 37 weeks but I didn’t realise the end of pregnancy would be genuinely painful?!

Mumto3andexpectingagain · 24/03/2021 20:22

Girls I'm so excited for us all, I stopped getting email notifications for this thread and I've just come on and found loads of comments. Due dates for most of you fast approaching....mine isn't until 16th April and they have threatened inducing me in week 39 so hoping baby will come before then, plus it's the school holidays so I know childcare for my existing 3 will be less of an issue. I'll be 38 weeks friday, seems to be the magic week as apparently after that you are classed as term. Cant wait

LuckyFlash · 24/03/2021 20:35

Sounds like loads of people are being induced before 40 weeks. Obviously you don’t need to give the reasons but I’m interested to know if that’s due to medical issues or something to do with Covid or something? I didn’t think it was so common and thought it was largely if you went overdue by a lot

The reasons I was given as to why they'd like to induce me was mainly the GDM but as I was opposed to the idea they agreed to scan me again at 39 weeks and then we can decide. Don't fancy being induced but if needs must then I'll consider it. It does seem to be a common factor on this thread though so I agree with you @Handsoffstrikesagain

Mumto3andexpectingagain · 24/03/2021 21:54

Apparently the pain in an induced labour can be more than a spontaneous labour so I really want to go au natural, it also increases chances of an assisted delivery. I was ok with it before I read the leaflet they gave me Confused

Inkpaperstars · 24/03/2021 22:06

38 weeks today (just realised!). My due date was the 7th, still is I suppose but in reality it will be before. They weren’t going to let me go beyond 39 weeks and that is still roughly the plan give or take a day or two for availability. Looks like it will be c section if not labouring naturally by then, though induction is still a small possibility. For me they aren’t letting me go further for a multitude of factors...including age, pre existing medical conditions, gestational diabetes etc...otherwise they would say go on longer. Some of my medical issues mean that induction could be not so good, basically much better if any surgery I end up having to have is planned, so it’s a bit of a tough call.

I am in no way ready on a practical level, surrounded by chaos and lots to get, so hopefully I get a week at least but if not I will have to manage. I have had quite a few episodes of perceived reduced movement over the weeks so want to be careful.

Good to hear how you are all doing, seems there are a lot of us around the same stage!

Hope all went or is going well for flappity.

Inkpaperstars · 24/03/2021 22:08

Just to add, if anyone with gdm is being induced, think about what you can take to eat if you end up in there for a while before delivery. Hospital food is not the best for blood sugar levels.

BaaHumbugg · 24/03/2021 22:09

I went into spontaneous labour and was still induced, how that worked I still have no idea! 😂 It did make the contractions worse when they put the drip in. I hope to avoid induction this time but if it happens I think I will be okay.

@LuckyFlash I'm being induced due to gestational diabetes, which is managed by insulin, and pre-eclampsia in my previous pregnancy. Sadly, as I really wanted to be left to go naturally

rainbow95 · 25/03/2021 09:09

How is everyone finding their maternity leave? I'm 37 weeks and just want baby here now. I know I should make the most of having time to myself but I'm so bored especially with my DP at work all day. I've done cleaning, batch cooking, got hospital things ready. Is anyone else feeling like this? 😑

Ttwinksy · 25/03/2021 09:40

@rainbow95 Not really - I'm getting so little sleep at the moment that all the little baby prep jobs just aren't getting seen to! Wish I had the energy to batch cook, was on my pre baby to do list. Am doing well at the moment if I do the washing up and push a vacuum cleaner around in a day... I'm just in bits. Fingers crossed for the burst of energy towards the end...though I'm 38 weeks already so cutting it fine Hmm

Exciting that there'll be some babies on this thread soon! Am starting to get quite nervous about the birth myself, but think its partly due to how exhausted I am. Not sure how I'll cope if its a long labour!

1sttimemumtobe2021 · 25/03/2021 09:55

Oh I need to get some motivation! I started mat leave this week but the first two days were a write off as I wasn't very well, but that often happens doesn't it - you end up being ill when you finally have a rest!?

I have packed my hospital bag but after a growth scan I'm considering buying a few more newborn stuff. I've got plain baby grows in 0-1 month (up to 10lb), 3 sleepsuits in newborn (tu) and m and s 0-1 month. The m and s stuff is HUGE!

Was thinking of getting another starter kit from m and s in newborn which is up to 7lb as it's quite reasonably priced and has 2 bodysuits and sleepsuits in it. I was measuring 5lb 5oz at my scan. I was 36plus6 at the scan. Any thoughts!? I'm quite petite and I was a small baby (OH is 6ft 2 and by no means small so until my scans and small fundal measurements I had assumed an average baby). Baby is measuring just over 10th percentile.

BaaHumbugg · 25/03/2021 10:08

@1sttimemumtobe2021 trouble is you just don't know how big they will be, my first was tiny so I'm going to pack loads of smaller baby outfits but maybe best to have a mixture of both!

rainbow95 · 25/03/2021 10:29

I've packed two newborn outfits and two upto 1 month as our baby is 90th percentile on growth scan! I'm petite too, although nearly 9lbs when I was born, and DP is also 6ft 2. I have another growth scan next week to discuss a possible induction. Growth scans only give an estimate though so it's tricky.

Catlady21 · 25/03/2021 10:31

Re having GD, you can ask to see the hospital's diabetic menu if you need to stay in.

1sttimemumtobe2021 · 25/03/2021 10:42

@rainbow95 good luck with the growth scan.

I was born at 5lb15oz at 40plus3 and my pregnancy has practically been a mirror image of my mums so although I know they are pretty unreliable with scans (and certainly with the tape measure method!) I have a feeling he will be a dinky dot.

I weighed myself for the first time since about 12 weeks yday. I've put on the same amount of weight as my mum did too when she was pregnant. Crazy!

My OH was an 8lb'er though. Who knows!?

I'm really excited for all of us now!! Not long at all!
