Made a new thread for us as we were coming to the end of the previous one!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BaaHumbugg · 02/06/2021 09:13

@flappityflippers1 thankyou! I went for a vest and blanket in the end as our house is unusually hot, not that she slept much anyway WinkGrin

LifeIsBusy · 02/06/2021 18:53

@BaaHumbugg vet and sleep suit here, no covers. Our room sits between 22-24 degrees and has done since we got home.

We tried a 0.5 grow bag at one point but he was all red in the face.

amylee1817 · 03/06/2021 06:26

Did anyone have a c section? I'm still bleeding quite heavily, keeps stopping and staying - is anyone else experiencing this? Going to ring docs I think x

My baby is currently going through an awful colic phase where she screams for several hours most evenings which is so upsetting. Is anyone else in a similar situation? We are persisting with infacol to see if that helps.

BaaHumbugg · 04/06/2021 15:40

@amylee1817 I hope you're okay, did you ring the docs? I haven't had a c section so not sure on the bleeding.

@rainbow95 is the screaming constant or on and off? My DD cries every evening but it's just the witching hour I think, nothing worked with my first she kind of just grew out of it eventually!

amylee1817 · 04/06/2021 17:17

@rainbow95 oooooh yes I know all about that!!!

Fin would scream all day, he would hardly nap.

We tried infacol which helped slightly. But then we put him on Cow & Gate Comfort formula, gave him colief in his bottles and gave him 5ml of gripe water after every bottle and honestly he is like a different baby. Hope this helps & good luck it's horrible isn't it xx

FlappityFlippers1 · 04/06/2021 22:19

I bled after my section until 6 weeks PP, i would often go a few days with nothing, then bleed if I overdid it.

@rainbow95 yes Ollie has been fucking horrendous quite frankly! Taking egg out of my diet has helped a fair bit, and omeperazole for his silent reflux helps also. It’s the absolute pits, I really feel for you. Week 5-6 was the absolute worst, he’s 10 weeks now and much happier x

rainbow95 · 05/06/2021 18:36

@BaaHumbugg the crying is constant for several hours and nothing we have tried really helps (warm baths, music, swaddling etc). Hope she grows out of it soon!
Thank you @amylee1817. That must have been hard if he cried all day. We have bought some colief to try if the infacol doesn't help and we have got gripe water too. Fingers crossed!
@FlappityFlippers1 she has been particularly bad this week (week 6) and last week too, so hopefully she'll start to get a little better. Glad your little one is happier now Smile that gives me hope!

rainbow95 · 05/06/2021 18:39

Hope you are feeling a little better too @amylee1817. This is my first baby and I have found things difficult to say the least. Hope you are having support from your family and friends. X

FlappityFlippers1 · 07/06/2021 20:44

Hope you're OK @rainbow95 - it's so hard when they hit peak screaming (I call it peak dickhead mode, but that doesn't always go down too well..!)

Ollie is 11 weeks now and it definitely feels like we're through the tunnel. You'll be getting big gummy smiles and happy awake time before you now it.

If you haven't already, download the wonder weeks app - around week 5/6 is the first developmental leap which can make them really grizzly apparently. It was scarily spot on with my first, and seems to be this time too. It doesn't offer a solution to the screaming, but it does help to understand that it's a phase and will pass!

rainbow95 · 14/06/2021 05:49

@FlappityFlippers1 I am ok thank you. Overall my daughter seems to be less colicky which is good and is no longer crying every evening. She still has bad days though. We have taken her off infacol as she seemed more uncomfortable and was crying during feeding. Fingers crossed she'll soon grow out of the colic completely.

BaaHumbugg · 14/06/2021 09:26

Hope everyone is ok, the time is flying and they don't even look like newborns anymore!

amylee1817 · 17/06/2021 19:57

@BaaHumbugg I know! Fin is soo big 13lbs 10 at 6 weeks old 😂 how are you? I'm missing my bump abit now x

Bizjustgotreal · 17/06/2021 21:25

Hi all - I've been lurking ln this since the first thread. Had my guy toward the end of April.

We're combi feeding; suffice to say I didn't pass the acid test that was day 2's cluster feeding - I want to increase my supply, although he's nearly 8 weeks old. Is this still possible?

We're having trouble with latching, he just finds bottles a lot easier. I have the medela mini electric and can reliably get 20 ml, sometimes 30 per pump (once got 70ml, was ecstatic!). Does anyone have recommendations for a potentially better pump?

I've got my eye on the swing electric but don't want to fork out the 3 figures for something that is potentially just the same as what I have.

reimah · 06/07/2021 18:56

Hi all,

Just needed a bit of advice!
Baby is 12 weeks and since Sat, she’s been refusing the bottle completely!!
She had trapped wind and GP suggested she take comfort milk and that worked for a couple of days but now she will twist her head and cry until the bottle is out of her mouth.
The only way she will drink is if she’s asleep and I’m getting super stressed out and anxious that she will stop drinking her milk!
Any advice would be great, really worried mum over here 😟

MsHedgehog · 06/07/2021 23:05

@reimah Sorry you’re dealing with that! Can’t offer advice but try posting in the infant feeding forum - you’re more likely to get experienced responses there (no offence to anyone here!).

amylee1817 · 07/07/2021 14:39

@reimah hi! My little boy is 10 weeks and is doing the same thing.. he will show signs he's hungry (eating his hands) but only has a few sips before crying and refusing!

Like yours he is fine through the night. Will you let me know if you find anything useful? 🙂

Hope you get it sorted xx

reimah · 07/07/2021 14:49

Hi @amylee1817

My little one had reflux and constipation issues.
Tried infacol and gripe water (people swear by them) but didn’t work for my LO.
The comfort formula helped a little, but now she’s doing explosive green poop and refusing the bottle when she’s awake.

I’ve been to the GP again today who has prescribed her cows free formula and many mums netters have recommended the Rowena book, so let’s see how the two fair!

Have you been to the Drs with your baby yet?

Nicecupofteaandacake · 09/07/2021 21:15

@Bizjustgotreal I’m exclusively pumping for my 16 week old, I have the spectra S1 which is bloody brilliant. I also have a Fraupow wearable pump for out and about.

If you want to up your supply you can do this - you will need to pump every 3 hours for at least 15-20 mins. Drink gallons of water, and while there is no evidence, I certainly see an increase in supply when eating a lot of oats. Also you can power pump which really boosts supply. It’s

Pump 20 mins
Rest 10
Pump 10
Rest 10
Pump 10

Unfortunately a MOTN (middle of the night) is a must as that is when your prolactin levels are highest.

You can either pump and feed and add what you pump to formula. Or you can put all the milk you pump into a clean pitcher over the course of the day (in the fridge), and make up bottles with that. Just make sure when you add milk to the pitcher, that it’s the same temperature- so pump and put that in the fridge. Next pump, put that in the fridge, and the one from before goes in the pitcher and you can then clean that bottle.

Sorry if this is way too late, I haven’t checked my notifications for ages 🙈

Hope everyone is doing ok. My daughter is 3 months on Monday and I'm having problems with her in the car and pushchair. In the car, she is ok initially but after a few minutes, she screams and is unconsolable unless I put her dummy back in. She then cries again, dummy falls out and I'm constantly having to stop the car to put it in until she falls asleep. If I don't do this, she will scream until she is out of the car seat. She also cries in her pushchair unless I put her in the pram while she is still asleep. I have started to avoid going out because it is so stressful and now I just feel trapped in the house some days.

doritodiva · 14/07/2021 13:28

@rainbow95 is it when she's sitting up slightly? So do you have the pram attachment where she can lay down flat and does that have the same affect?

rainbow95 · 15/07/2021 04:57

@doritodiva we had the in the carrycot until recently but tried her in the pram attachment the other day. She was slightly better as she could look around more, however she still cried Confused

doritodiva · 15/07/2021 10:18

@rainbow95 have you tried a carrier?
