@AnxiousAnnie86 I'm doing ok but still struggling with the feeding. Jessie had her tongue tie snipped yesterday (thankfully she barely batted an eyelid!) but I'm still struggling to latch her properly. She will sometimes feed for 1-2 hours straight and come off starving and I then end up topping her up with formula. She won't lay/sleep anywhere that isn't on one of us so we have resorted to doing two nightshifts between us through the night for the moment (OH does until 3am and I go to bed early to then be up from 3am for the day). It's not ideal but hopefully she'll start using her crib at some point!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 03/09/2021 06:01

@SS123456 oh my gosh, that sounds so hard :( with regards to the crib, have you heard of a cocoonababy, Guin goes down well at night and I'm certain it's due to this, x

Guys these uterus after-cramps are the worst aren't they!

SS123456 · 04/09/2021 05:01

@TheOrangeMonster they feel like contractions don't they! Mine lasted a few days and then eased off but they are pretty intense, especially if you breastfeed

@AnxiousAnnie86 thank you I'll take a look at those!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 04/09/2021 06:51

@TheOrangeMonster awful!!!! How are you doing?? X

OP posts:
TheOrangeMonster · 04/09/2021 11:24

They do feel like horrible period pains, yes! @SS123456 especially when she's feeding.
Midwife just popped around, she said I've got milk already which means Siân is doing a really good job of bringing it in. Except she point blank refused to feed to show her - she just wanted to sleep 😂

I'm super tired as we all are and movement is a bit tricky - and because I'm hobbling around like a 90-year-old loads of random muscles I'm using instead of my abs have started aching....

Hope we're all doing well.

@mabelelsie where are you now?

SS123456 · 04/09/2021 14:42

@TheOrangeMonster It feels like it is mother natures cruel joke to give us cramps at the same time as crazy pain from a baby feeding on red raw nipples! 🙈. Keep an eye on the milk coming in fast as I got crazy engorged very quickly which then gave me the mastitis as my body went into over drive making way too much

TheOrangeMonster · 04/09/2021 14:52

@SS123456 I'm worried about that - they're huge and hard now and she just wants to sleep! What do I do!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 04/09/2021 16:10

@TheOrangeMonster can you pump and freeze it? Xx

OP posts:
TheOrangeMonster · 04/09/2021 18:28

I was thinking of that but then won't that increase my supply even more? 🤣 ah it's so tricky, all this stuff! @AnxiousAnnie86 @Blossom428 any clues as to when c-section pain/movement becomes manageable?

SS123456 · 05/09/2021 02:51

@TheOrangeMonster if you can a small bit of hand expressing could help as that won't release a massive amount

AnxiousAnnie86 · 05/09/2021 04:27

@TheOrangeMonster also if she's asleep try a warm bath or shower wirh a flannel, my c section pain was so bad as I can't take codiene or Morphine. I'm allergic. I'm pretty sure within a week it was manageable though abs gradually improved from there. X

Blossom428 · 05/09/2021 10:00

@TheOrangeMonster yeah within a week I felt soooo much better. I was actually surprised how well after a week later. Just got the take things steady, and kinda roll to the side to get out of bed and off the sofa rather than pulling up using your abs. Keep taking your painkillers even if you feel well.
Good you are getting on well with Breastfeeding though!!
We are still having lots of crying from Harley, switched on to so colief stuff to see if this helps with his wind and breaking down the lactose. 6weeks yesterday- how time flies!!!

TheOrangeMonster · 05/09/2021 18:06

Thanks everyone!

Sorry for the belated photo....

@TheOrangeMonster oh my gosh!!!!! She is so beautiful!!! Look at that hair!!!! Xx

SS123456 · 06/09/2021 11:36

@TheOrangeMonster ah look at her hair! ❤️. Beautiful! 😁💖

TheOrangeMonster · 06/09/2021 18:19

@AnxiousAnnie86 @SS123456 she has so much hair, they were commenting on it in the hospital! I hope it doesn't all fall out too soon because it's so sweet, like a little fuzzball.

Ugh this heatwave! Poor little babies in the night.

@SS123456 I am so much in solidarity with you on the night time not using the cot thing - we are now doing pretty much the exact same thing.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 06/09/2021 19:57

@TheOrangeMonster honestly as I said before I cannot recommend the cocoonababy enough!!! No way would G go down without it! X

Blossom428 · 07/09/2021 15:39

Aww she's adorable @TheOrangeMonster 🥰

SS123456 · 08/09/2021 05:21

@TheOrangeMonster it's exhausting isn't it! My 'shift' started at 3am today so I'll be done in before I've even done the school run and started work for the day

SS123456 · 08/09/2021 06:33

@AnxiousAnnie86 I feel a bit nervous about putting sleep aids in the cot but thank you I'll def take a look x

TheOrangeMonster · 09/09/2021 07:18

@SS123456 we think we may be onto something- wanted to share with you.
Siân has now gone down in a Moses basket placed inside the cot two nights in a row, she's been pretty happy to sleep there between each feed as long as she's deeply asleep enough when we transfer her in.
We think this is because the cot felt massive to her.
We didn't want to spend a fortune so this is the Moses basket we bought - it has a sleep safe mattress.

Our midwife also advised me to take the breast pads or a milk-stained bra I had been wearing and put them up the top end of the basket all day so it smells of my milk, and I think she's been soothed by that.
Twice is a coincidence but three times is a pattern so I'll let you know if it works tonight too. Might be worth a go and not too much financial outlay if it doesn't work?

SS123456 · 09/09/2021 09:42

@TheOrangeMonster so glad you have found a way that works, long may it last! 😁

We have actually tried the moses basket too but she won't settle in there. I think she just hates sleeping/laying on her back. When she sleeps on us she is on her front and settles really well. I will definitely give the milk/bra things a go though, thank you 😊

TheOrangeMonster · 03/10/2021 10:07

@mabelelsie any news?
