@SS123456 she still could come by tomorrow I guess - it's only Thursday morning and they do say 2nd labours are quicker, you might go into labour tonight and have her by tomorrow lunchtime!

I'm not getting my hopes up - 37 weeks is definitely on the early side to be going into labour so it's probably just my body gearing up super slowly. It's my first baby too so my body doesn't know what to do and will probably take longer anyway.

Im so glad you're not uncomfortable though!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 19/08/2021 13:58

@TheOrangeMonster I went into labour with both of mine at 37 weeks!!!! So it really could be any time!

@SS123456 of my gosh! So so close!!

I'm thinking of you both! So excited to hear about your arrivals!!!!

@mabelelsie my baby was in 10th percentile the whole way! I even had a scan the day before she came snd they estimated 6lb but she was 6.7 she was and still is very chunky and short haha x

@TheOrangeMonster keep us posted as it sounds promising! As @AnxiousAnnie86 says, 37 weeks is perfectly normal for labour to start so you never know! 🤞🏻

TheOrangeMonster · 19/08/2021 19:48

@SS123456 @AnxiousAnnie86 thanks - I can't help thinking how statistically unlikely it is though 😅 only 50% of mothers have delivered through spontaneous labour by their due date, average for a FTM is 41 + 1....

I haven't had anything further happen today other than the standard back and rib ache, and baby squiggling around as normal very low down (bump dropped last week).
Nary a Braxton Hicks, even.

@SS123456 it's your turn first anyway 😜

AnxiousAnnie86 · 19/08/2021 20:01

@TheOrangeMonster @SS123456 oh it's sooo exciting you are meeting your babies any time now!!!! 😍😍😍

Thank you @TheOrangeMonster @SS123456 you girls are really on the home stretch now, super exciting! Do you feel prepared?

Oh were they @AnxiousAnnie86? Did you get extra scans? I’m feeling much better about it and keep reminding myself that not all babies can be the same size!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 20/08/2021 10:53

@mabelelsie no they didn't seem concerned at all, I had lots of extra scans but that was due to reduced movements and placental location etc. Like o said I was always below 10th percentile! I will say get some tiny baby grows! Every the normal newborn didn't fit at all! The only ones that fit were the 5lb baby ones from Sainsbury's and next! X

@mabelelsie I think I am as prepared as I can be but I'm super anxious about the birth now. I did a brilliant hypnobirthing course which has been amazing though so I'm hoping that will help 🤞🏻. I put up the next to me crib yesterday as well so we are good to go I think 😬

TheOrangeMonster · 20/08/2021 13:33

@mabelelsie we got all the physical stuff sorted a couple of weeks ago so it's been ready a while, which is probably why I feel like I've been waiting too long already 😂
I'm trying to tell myself I've got at least another 3 weeks to wait, I mustn't assume it'll come early - but after the whole journey it took to get here I've become super impatient so that's easier said than done.

I have the worst acne at the moment, it hasn't been this bad since I was 14! Driving me nutty, nothing I do seems to clear it up. I'm hoping it's some hormone or other rising ready for labour.

@AnxiousAnnie86 how's the bottle mission going? Will she accept it yet?

@SS123456 if it's any comfort I don't think anyone goes into this not being anxious about the birth. I know you've got bad memories of your last one too which must make it worse, but someone once told me that feeling nervous is the body's way of gearing up for performance. Like rising to the occasion - you almost do better when you're nervous than when you're not.
(And I should know, I'm a professional musician!)

Blossom428 · 20/08/2021 14:42

Oooo getting so close for you guys now!!! I hope both your labours go as well as they can, and make sure to let us know the safe arrival of your little ones @TheOrangeMonster @SS123456

I've had pretty tough couple of weeks, think Harley has colic, he cries ALOT! And it's really hard seeing him so unsettled. Trying all the tips and tricks. He does have moments of calm and he's just the cutest, but it is a lot harder than I imagined. Luckily got some good support around me so my mum currently has him whilst I'm having a bath and chilling out!

SS123456 · 20/08/2021 16:01

Thanks @TheOrangeMonster , that is a really good way of looking at it 😊

@Blossom428 I'm sorry to hear that, colic is so horrible 😔. How you tried infacol at all? I found it a god send when my son was small

AnxiousAnnie86 · 20/08/2021 16:52

@Blossom428 oh nooo! Colic is the worst!!! G has a bout on an evening from 6-9 where it's really hard to settle her she screams a lot and cries constantly until bath time at 9, I've found going on walks helps etc. I don't have any help unfortunately apart from her dad who works long hours :( she's a good baby though.
How's harleys sleeping?? Guin had been sleeping from about 10 till 2:30 then 3:30 till about 7 which was amazing! But last night she was up from midnight till 5am!!!! Are you doing bottle of BF?

@TheOrangeMonster well we've found a bottle she will take, but won't take formula only expressed. But I struggle to find the time to express! She hates to go down! But it is a start!

X

Blossom428 · 20/08/2021 20:27

@SS123456 yeah we are using infacol, not currently had any effect as of yet but keep using it.

@AnxiousAnnie86 very exhausting. During the night he's not too bad- depends how the evening feeds fall, but usually feeds about 9.30, then 12, then 3.30, then 6. Can take an hour to feed an settle those times though. But today he was awake from like 1-6 just fighting sleeping and crying constantly, was awful. This morning he started crying and took him out in the pram which eventually settled him. Is bloody hard though, I find myself keep crying / welling up. Hormones lack of sleep all getting on top of me I think. Hopefully it will pass soon 🤞🏽🤞🏽 xxx

Blossom428 · 20/08/2021 20:28

@AnxiousAnnie86 forgot to say, he's just on formula now. I stopped pumping a week ago. We switched to kendamil formula to see if that would help a couple of days ago.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 20/08/2021 21:43

@Blossom428 you are a few weeks behind me, and G was 9:30 then 12 - 3 - 6 an hour each time, for the past ten days or so she's lost the midnight one. It's so so hard when they don't stop crying but it does start to ease! We had it horrific about weeks 5-7 she still does it but not quite as bad, a very slightly warm heat pack on their tummy helped us, but very mildly warm not hot in the slightest. Also, what was an absolute life saver during the screaming hours was a sling, not the walking type, but the fabric ones, I swore I would never use one as my sisters baby lived in hers! But she bought me one and it has genuinely been a god send! Even the doc said having them upright in a sling helps! Plus it means I can get jobs done in the day, will link ours
I wouldn't of got through the last months without this!

@Blossom428 also, to add the NUK bottles have helped with her throwing up, it's the same sort of thing so maybe it would help you? X

TheOrangeMonster · 21/08/2021 08:52

@Blossom428 have you tried "the hold" - I was watching videos of it and this paediatrician calms about five babies in a row immediately by doing it. Something to do with their orientation. You hold them leaning forwards with one hand under their chin and the other holding their bum and wiggle their bum.

It sounds like loads of babies get the evening heebie-jeebies, I wonder why it's particularly around that time? Weird.

TheOrangeMonster · 21/08/2021 08:56

@AnxiousAnnie86 I've bought an Elvie pump and an Elvie curve, the reviews have been incredible and one of my friends uses one and she said she can literally pump anywhere. The curve is for putting on the other boob when baby is feeding on one, just uses natural suction, and the pump just goes in your bra and is virtually silent. I haven't tried it yet obviously but I've turned it on and it is REALLY quiet. Like, people wouldn't notice quiet.
They're bloody expensive but I figured anything to make life easier!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 21/08/2021 09:08

@TheOrangeMonster yeah it's so strange!!! They call it witching your!!

We are going to buy an elvie! I can't continue wirh the one I have. I looked at it when I was pregnant but decided to wait to make sure I could definitely feed first xx

Witching hour, which is silly as it lasts multiple hours!!

OP posts:
Blossom428 · 23/08/2021 17:38

@AnxiousAnnie86 oooh it wil be good when the 12oclock feed is dropped!! I feel he's not taking like full bottles of 4oz though, just takes about 2 or 3oz so isn't completely full.
Being weighed tomorow so we shall see, but he's defo putting on weight.
Yes I have a sling, had him in it today- he screamed for a while but eventually settled thank goodness! Last few days haven't been as bad.
@TheOrangeMonster oooh I will look that up!! We've tried so many different positions, songs, white noise, bouncing around- at least all this movement will help me shift some baby weight haha!!
Yes the witching hour 🙈🙈🙈
Although atm Harley's seems to be in the day time, usually after a feed which makes me think it's more like trapped wind. He does always do a huge few burps after feeds. But doesn't poo for like 2/3 days, but always trying to push bless him. Health visitor said it was normal up to a week, so they don't think it's an issue.

TheOrangeMonster · 23/08/2021 19:01

@Blossom428 yeah just search "the hold " for colic on YouTube. There's loads of videos with it.
Someone also said to me "imagine how you get rid of trapped wind" - which is more by lying on our fronts or sides than patting ourselves on the back!

Aaaargh so sick of being pregnant. I BET I go to 42 weeks and have to be induced. I'm going crazy. @SS123456 I hope you're close/have had your wee one by now!

SS123456 · 23/08/2021 19:48

@TheOrangeMonster still no sign of baby coming just yet! 🙈. I'm really hoping she comes this week 🤞🏻

TheOrangeMonster · 23/08/2021 20:00

@SS123456 are you at the pineapple & curry eating stage yet? 😂

SS123456 · 23/08/2021 21:09

@TheOrangeMonster 😂 not quite yet but soon maybe! She is feeling really low down on my cervix though. I'm under strict instruction from my son that she can't come tonight though as he wants me to take him to the cinema tomorrow 😂🙈
