OK it's a boy. DH is Irish, I am English but half-Indian. Here is the shortlist:

Irish:
Killian
Malachi
Taigh (not sure of spelling; pron is first syllable of tiger)
Dara

Other (i.e. mine):
Inigo
Noah
Emmanuel
Inyaki
Rafael
Raju
Damien (DH's)

He hates mine, I don't like his enough to name my son any of them. Killian is probably the frontrunner although I have huge issues calling my son anything that includes the word 'kill' (and rhymes with Gillian )

Any comments/suggestions gratefully received

lol broccoli - don;t even know what a dipping sauce is!

empen - is De'Ath a middle name or a surname?

nappyaddict · 30/10/2007 13:58

devi?

Fennel · 30/10/2007 14:00

dd1 was going to be Inigo, if she'd been a boy. DP likes it after the character in the Princess Bride. [geek emoticon] The other "famous" [hhmmm] Inigo.

nappyaddict · 30/10/2007 14:00

jai, hari, kailash, kalyan, kavi, kiran, lochan, mani?

Fennel · 30/10/2007 14:00

...

Fennel · 30/10/2007 14:01

sorry, just working on my [hhhhhmmmmm]s

nailpolish · 30/10/2007 14:01

India is a nice name for a girl

my friend has a girl called India Blue (Blue being middle name)

nailpolish · 30/10/2007 14:02

Sonny for a boy is cool

nailpolish · 30/10/2007 14:02

or Mack

empen · 30/10/2007 14:14

don't worry De'Ath is surname - we are not choosing it as such!!

skidaddle · 30/10/2007 14:45

empen - oh good!

yeah I like Mack nailpolish, esp as shortened vesion of Malachi

not too keen on any of those nappyaddict, thank you anyway

fennel - didn't know there was another famous inigo - less geeky than an 18th century garden designer surely?? makes it almost cool

I once knew an indian guy called Sonny but think it was spelt Sunny.
Great name.

Pmsl at your dh's latest suggestions of Mowgli and Reef

Put them together and you get a druggie jungle boy.

skidaddle · 30/10/2007 15:38

yeah I know a Sunny too but his real name is Sunhil (sp?)

Mowgli Reef - won't even suggest that to DH - he'll probably wet himself in excitement

Zahra
Corran ( i LOVE that name)
Eshveer (not sure if boy or girl)
Farhan
Kyle

those ar eunusual ones i can think of

skidaddle · 30/10/2007 15:44

Is Zahra a boy nailpolish? I love the name Zahara for a girl

Corran is quite nice too - sounds a bit Irish - might suggest it to DH [ever-hopeful emotion]

No Skid I think you have to go for Mowgli Reef. He will certainly be unique at school

My dh has suggested Bloodclot Pusshole for a name (he is very influenced by all things Jamaican...). As you can see he is not taking the name game very seriously either! But I am relying on the tried and tested method of being able to chose the name as I was the one who gave birth!

skidaddle · 30/10/2007 15:53

claraq - if only my DH wasn't serious when he suggested reef and mowgli!!

good luck with the 'I just gave birth so I choose the name' plan - certainly didn't work for me last time - did it you?

OP posts:
claraq · 30/10/2007 15:58

Yes sort of - we had a list of potential names we had both agreed on and then I decided on the final two (1st and middle). I think we're doing the same this time for girls - we have agreed on a boys name. But there is not one girls name that really stands out so I am hoping that something will just go bing when the baby is born (if a girl).

Bundle · 30/10/2007 15:59

I've a friend who called his son Kiran (he's asian, his wife has some irish blood) which I think is quite nice

nailpolish · 30/10/2007 16:01

Zahra is a little indian boy

kittylouise · 30/10/2007 16:02

Can't you turn on the tears (blame pregnancy hormones) and say 'I reaaallllllly want Inigo waaaaahhhh!'

To be honest though, bless him and all, but if he comes out with Reef and Mowgli he doesn't really deserve a say in it

nailpolish · 30/10/2007 16:03

speaking of zahara, what about maddox or pax? they are cool names

kittylouise · 30/10/2007 16:05

DD (age 11) is reading over my shoulder and has asked to make her own suggestion - she has chosen

John
Luke
Joe

I don't think that is quite in the spirit, is it?

However, she agrees that Mowgli is a nice name.

Bless her!

skidaddle · 30/10/2007 16:11

kitty - I asked my dd (just turned 2) what she wanted to call her little brother - she said 'mummy poo' - slightly (and only very so slightly) worse than her father's suggestions!!

OP posts:
skidaddle · 30/10/2007 16:12

but thank you kitty's daughter - quite like Luke actually but don't think it will swing my DH
