OK it's a boy. DH is Irish, I am English but half-Indian. Here is the shortlist:

Irish:
Killian
Malachi
Taigh (not sure of spelling; pron is first syllable of tiger)
Dara

Other (i.e. mine):
Inigo
Noah
Emmanuel
Inyaki
Rafael
Raju
Damien (DH's)

He hates mine, I don't like his enough to name my son any of them. Killian is probably the frontrunner although I have huge issues calling my son anything that includes the word 'kill' (and rhymes with Gillian )

Any comments/suggestions gratefully received

We've got a Kyno (Keyno or Keano for the Man U fans)in school. Thats a bit different.

I used to read the credits at the end of programs/films for ideas.

toomanyballs · 02/11/2007 14:21

I would but he is No 3 and I would have to buy a bus and I love love love my car too much. Shallow but true, will need to wait until Ds1 can drive himself

DH says they are not allowed African first names-dd's middle names are both African, one is Yoruba (DH's dads side of the family), and the other Tswana (his mums side of the family)so we'll probably do the same for this LO.
So looking for anything really...as long as it's not African!

claireybang - my DH liked Aoife ( Ee-fer ) for a girl, it is Irish, but we don't do girls so never got to use it.

One of them Mums at my school is a Remy, like that too

skidaddle · 02/11/2007 15:51

toomanyballs - what a coincidence - we would have called this baby Aoife if he'd been a girl - if you can think of a male equivalent...

DH likes Remy but I don't really.

Clairey - can you tell us some possibel names so we can suggest others - it's too hard for my pg head to think them up from nothing!

Claireybang - not sure what sort of names you like but a few suggestions (these are totally random, but not common) - Atticus, Hogarth, Aldous, Jasper, Ignacio, Ezra, Fidel, Fingal, Hani, Hector, Morgan, Woodrow, Piers, Seymour, Orion, Marius, Mars, Thor.

Not saying that I necessarily like all of these but just a few suggestions!

claraq · 03/11/2007 10:56

Sorry - those are all boys names, forgot that you don't know what you are having!

claireybang · 03/11/2007 11:05

Erm, thats the problem Skid, We don't really have any possibles other than dd's offerings! Whatever i suggest dh hates and vice versa...
DD is Caiela if that helps at all...

toomanyballs · 03/11/2007 14:12

Two names that i have come across reacently are Hector and Oriol not sure thats how you spell it but pronouned O-re-ol.

We did consider Coran but didn't like that it may will get shortened to Corey

Our friend has a daughter called Tuscany ( for claireybang )

skidaddle · 05/11/2007 08:08

Caiela - that's beautiful clairey - will be hard to come up with a boy's name that beats that but wil let you knwo if anything occurs to me

Not keen on Hector or Oriel (that's the spelling I know) toomanyballs - both remind me of badly-behaved student I have had!!

Am still working on Inigo, think DH is at least going to give it another chance but it doesn't sit right with him

Thanks Skidaddle-took us forever to find it!

We are now considering Xavier for a boy (if anyone nicks it or tells me about any horrible children called it I will be cross!). We'll pronounce it the French (proper?) way, not Zay-vee-er.

So looks like either DH's Arielle or DD's Nayari for a girl at the moment. hmmmmm...
