I am starting this thread a bit early. I tested yesterday at 9dpo and got a faint positive, which was much darker today. My due date would be the 29 September, but this is my second child and my first was super late, so am assuming this will really be an October baby.

Hi can I join? I got my bfp today which was a huge shock as we have been trying since June 2019 and had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in November 2020. We hadn't even really tried this month and I only took a test because a felt a bit meh and wanted to put it out if my mind as I was co differing applying for a new job!

I'm 31, this will hopefully be my second child due 5th October, my first will be 5 in August.

Currently trying to put out of my mind the miscarriage and be positive but feeling a bit cautious about getting excited yet.

Huge congratulations to everyone who has just got their BFP...exciting times ahead! My stats:

Due 5/10
First child
32 years old

Had my first day in work (NHS frontline) today- can't believe how terrible I feel now and also how anxious I suddenly am going in to a high risk Covid area. Am not getting my vaccine now so feel a bit scared!

Wondering how I am going to do 8 months of work feeling like this. Hoping it will get better??

What symptoms are everyone having?

I am exhausted, mildy nauseous and bloated but not sure if that is pregnancy or just being a bit run down!

Report
CharlieBH · 25/01/2021 17:42

@BrightonR

They're the exact same symptoms I'm having. Bit tired and nauseous but really bloated. Feels strange because I haven't got many symptoms so don't feel like it's real yet!

Hello!

Got a positive this evening 🥳 with a clear blue 6 day early test... can't tell anyone as so so early (apart from DP).

I am having very vivid dreams, insomnia from around 4am onwards, slightly swollen boobs. Did the test early as need to give up my usual lockdown glass of wine in the eve when DS asleep and wanted to know now. How I am going to survive lockdown with a toddler without wine and caffeine I don't know....

Congratulations everyone!

Hi all, Congrats fellow October due dates!
I have a very similar story to you @AnotherDayAnotherHope..
Miscarriage in December 2018 and been trying ever since. Positive test on a frer this morning around 12/13 dpo and working out due date as 5/10/21. I was trying to avoid testing but after a tiny bit of spotting yesterday I couldn’t resist this morning. Hoping it was just implantation bleeding! Super cautious and will just take it a day at a time! Trying to be positive!!

AnotherDayAnotherHope · 25/01/2021 20:39

That is so similar @Hopeful1988 and the same due date Smile I'm feeling a bit like it isn't real and a bit cautious about getting excited at the moment. I'm really hoping this is it because I don't think I could do it again.

I've been tired but that's nothing new! But felt a little bit nauseous most of today and had a horrible headache yesterday which is slightly lingering. I had awful headaches early on with both my son and the miscarriage.

Those who have said they've felt strange/guilty/shocked by getting pregnant first try, I was exactly the same with my DD 4 years ago and my head went round and round so many different things about how I felt. This time it's taken longer (6 months but 5 months of trying) and I've stressed every month about why it's not happened straight away when it did last time. Either way I think the whole process of trying for a baby makes us question everything and stress ourselves out over what's happening.

@Mcmcmcmc I told my mum and dad straight away with DD (3.5). I'm really close to them and knew that I'd need them if anything went wrong. I've not told them yet but I've also not seen them because of Covid. Normally I see my mum almost every year because she's my childcare bubble.

@LauEli that's sad about your mum not been as excited as you hoped. Have you spoken to her about it since?

@LucyrGilbert Facebook group is a brilliant idea.

@CaptainSpirit love your attitude! I'm going to try and channel your positivity.

@ttcSam @BrightonR @CharlieBH I work in a school too. I don't know whether being in work with key workers suggests I should tell my headteacher sooner rather than later but I'd rather wait. Have you thought about when you'll tell work? I told my boss pretty early on with DD and he told at least 3 other memebers of staff outside SLT so almost everyone in school actually knew by the time I announced I was pregnant after my scan.

Report
ttcSam · 25/01/2021 21:56

@Pebbleinthesand yes I plan on waiting as long as possible. I started a new leadership role in Sept and work in a small team where I am the only subject specialist so I know I am leaving them in a rubbish situation, which I just want to avoid having to think about. I am just going to push COVID out of my mind as it won’t actually change anything in work at the moment except for a risk assessment that wouldn’t change anything either except being able to park a bit closer to the building! It looks like We won’t be going back until after Easter properly so that’ll take us to the 12 week mark I think.
What about you? When are you thinking?

Report
Pebbleinthesand · 25/01/2021 22:02

@ttcSam to be honest based on what happened last time I'd be happy for work to the the last to know so I'm thinkiny probably after 13 week scan. If we were in school as normal I'd probably tell my TA earlier but at the moment I'm only face to face with key worker kids one day a week and not with my TA so I might just have to keep pulling out the baggy jumpers for a while. Yeah I'd worked that out about 12 weeks and not going back in fully until after Easter too.

LauEli · 25/01/2021 22:16

@Pebbleinthesand she is excited, just would be more excited if she wasn't in isolation and when everyone else knows. She was there when I tested with number 1 so perhaps she was a little sad about that. She's happy though, we've spoke since 😊

Yes @Pebbleinthesand I’m on the same page, I am in secondary so no TA but would probably tell the staff I work close with, especially if I was struggling with sickness etc to be able to cover my back, but as you said there is just no need at the moment. Nice to know someone else in on the same page. Also disappointing that somebody spread your news like that, how infuriating!
