I am starting this thread a bit early. I tested yesterday at 9dpo and got a faint positive, which was much darker today. My due date would be the 29 September, but this is my second child and my first was super late, so am assuming this will really be an October baby.

@BeginnerMummyxx @BrightonR welcome! Nice to know we're not the only ones who fell pregnant so quickly, hoping for nice healthy pregnancies for us all

LunaDreams · 24/01/2021 20:00

Hi everyone- can I also join in the chat!?

I got my BFP this morning. Like a few others, it happened a lot quicker than I expected which is very fortunate but has thrown me into a bit of a tailspin! It's our first so I have absolutely no idea what to expect or what to do with myself! I'm about 4 weeks so I think my due date will be roughly 4th October. Nice to see so many October babies in the making :)

Feeling very grateful for the internet and for Mumsnet today. Not telling anyone yet and think I'd go crazy if I had no one other than my partner to talk to as he is in just as much of a state of shock as i am!

CaptainSpirit · 24/01/2021 20:00

Lots of straight away pregnancies! We were surprised it happened quickly too, I only got my period back last month after having my one year old. I'm still breastfeeding her as well so I'm hoping that if I get sore boobs soon it isn't too nasty. 😬

LauEli · 24/01/2021 20:04

Welcome newbies 😊 October babies are cool, I already have one whose birthday is Halloween 🎃

nellly · 24/01/2021 20:06

It's a strange feeling, obviously feeling so lucky but also terrified now at impending motherhood!

CaptainSpirit · 24/01/2021 20:12

Would it be worth posting our stats? I've seen it on other pregnancy threads in the past, it might help to remember everyone's situations? Smile

So like mine would be:

Or something along those lines!

I’ve had more brown spotting today. Then when trying to pass bowel motion (sorry) there was bright red. I’m sure this happened with first child so trying not to worry too much.

@nellly @LunaDreams glad you girls can relate as I've been feeling very guilty and then worrying something would go wrong or I don't deserve it cause I'm not as happy as I should be or something? Weird cause like nov/dec when I got AF I'd be so gutted, I was constantly reading about TTC, got the apps, did opks, hoped it would happen quick then it did and I was like oh fuck I thought I'd get to do xyz first. I think with covid as well it's my first so I'm like will I get a baby shower, will things get worse and my partner won't be allowed to hospital, will I get to take my baby swimming, is sept/Oct a good time to have a baby then in my head listing why it is and why it's not. But nov/dec I had had tearful moments, what if it won't happen for me etc. So I think we just torture ourselves don't we 🙃 anyway

Due 30/9 ish
DC1
Age 27

nellly · 24/01/2021 21:15

I really do! I was desperate to get pregnant and been thinking about it for ages, had the implant out in December and couldn't wait, couldn't believe it happened so soon, then I keep thinking we should have waifted a few more months to be further out of the pandemic, then I feel guilty for even doubting it and worry that I've caused bad karma, I'm driving myself crazy

Mcmcmcmc · 24/01/2021 21:44

Hi all! It’s my first time here Smile
I am 37, had the Mirena coil for 10 years and removed it last July. We were TTC but trying not too think/worry too much about it as I knew my chances weren’t great due to my “advanced” age...Grin
My period came back quickly and was pretty regular, but this month I am 2 days late and decided to buy a cheap pregnancy test (my first ever!).
Used it today and it looked pretty positive! I was a bit unsure and tested it again (also positive), then I tested DH’s urine (negative Grin).
Due date according to the calculators is 3 October.
I really want to tell my mum but will try to wait a bit longer as this is my first ever positive pregnancy test and I know the chances of losing it at my age are about 20%...
Those of you who have DC already, at what point did you tell your parents (if you are close to them, I mean!).
Good luck to all x

BrightonR · 24/01/2021 21:50

Amazing so many people have got pregnant so quickly. I was reading so many MN forums about it taking months and months and even bought some OKPs to start using next month.

My stats are
Due: aprox 4/10
Baby #1
Age: 27

CaptainSpirit · 24/01/2021 21:56

@Mcmcmcmc Congratulations!! I love that you got your DH to test as well, just in case. 😂

With my first pregnancy I told my mum and dad the very morning I found out! Same the second time around, although unfortunately we did lose that one.
We kept quiet with our third pregnancy (I fell pregnant three weeks after losing the last one so was feeling really shook up still) and told everyone at 12 weeks.

Not sure what I'll do this time, if we're lucky to keep this little one then I'm tempted to wait until after the scan again!

RachelBlue · 24/01/2021 22:09

So many mixed experiences on here, but lots in common.

Due: 30/9 or 01/10 ish

ttcSam · 24/01/2021 22:11

Hi all. I had a faint but definitely a line there test this morning 2/3 days before AF is due. What an amazingly positive thread this is, lovely to ‘meet’ you all and hopefully keep in touch on this very scary journey!

Due: 5/10
Baby #1
Age: 28

TTCBaby1 · 24/01/2021 22:24

Due 4/10
First baby (had a missed miscarriage in nov)
Age 28

So many due date twins on here!

LauEli · 24/01/2021 22:27

@Mcmcmcmc congratulations 😊
I told my mum and dad the day I found out with number 1. This pregnancy I've not yet told anyone except hubby who was there when I took the test. My mum has just been track and traced so won't see family for 10 days, so gonna tell them all then I think.

I too got pregnant on my first minth trying in both pregnancies, I'm so glad, but nerves are a huge part of my life, I hope it goes quickly 😂 I've been trying to decide when to finish work already, or whether I'll even be allowed to carry on working 👀

ttcSam · 24/01/2021 22:32

@LauEli what is it that you do for work, if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m in a school and the other pregnant people seem to be in work as normal, there was a couple that have wfh but I assume they may have complications or are Vulnerable.

So hard not to tell people isn’t it. It’s easier now we’re not able to go out and avoid social situations with alcohol!

LauEli · 24/01/2021 22:38

@ttcSam no course I don't, I'm a carer, it involves a lot of manual handling using hoists, moving equipment, forward facing vulnerable people. During the first lock down another pregnant member of staff was put off work for the duration. It's not what I want, I enjoy my job and think I'd be bored senseless if I couldn't work. I may just ask if I can be choosy in those that I support, we shall see how I progress over the next few weeks

BrightonR · 24/01/2021 22:53

@ttcSam
I work in a school too. I don't really want to tell them until I am 10-12 weeks but I know some schools have risk assessments in place that stop face to face teaching. I think it is really important to keep safe during the third trimester? But with covid it is all a bit scary anyway.

LucyrGilbert · 25/01/2021 08:18
