@madeoftea im so glad it all went okay for you! So are they rescanned you back at the EPU in a couple of weeks? How far along are you? So pleased for you!

@mrsmcNtobe im going at 6+5 weeks all being well too! Window to the womb say the nearer to 7 weeks you are the better but I know people who have gone bang on 6 weeks and have seen baby so hopefully 6+5 will be okay too? Im going straight for transvaginal i think, I dont want the anxiety of them not seeing anything!

@Bubbles1st most early scans are done transvaginal just because its so tiny and hard go see anyway, plus if you (like me) have a tilted uterus they really have to do it that way to see anything. Im having one as had a prior MC so for my anxiety I need to know if there's anything in there so I can prepare myself! I just hate the thought of MC at 6 weeks but not knowing until 12 weeks if it all doesn't come away. I just think itll help me sleep easier if I see it on screen (hopefully!)

MrsMcNtobe · 20/01/2021 16:58

@unicornpower ahh brilliant! When are you booked for?

I think I’ll do the same as you, you’re totally right it could save 5/10 minutes of worry if the transabdominal isn’t clear and they have to then try and get you ready for Transvaginal

itssquidstella · 20/01/2021 17:04

I'm also having a scan next week when I'll be 6+3. I had a blighted ovum at the end of May, and when I was scanned at 8 weeks it was clear the pregnancy hadn't progressed - there was just an empty sac. I need reassurance this time that there's actually a baby in there; I know things can still go wrong, but I'd like to feel like it's a "real" pregnancy, at least. And if I'm really unlucky and it's another blighted ovum, I'd rather know as soon as possible so I can deal with it and try again, rather than having to wait until 8 or even 12 weeks to know there's a problem.

unicornpower · 20/01/2021 17:05

@mrandmrslobster congratulations!! 2-3 weeks means you're about 4-5 weeks pregnant! Yes your doctors will advise you what to do as to whether or not they refer you to the midwives or you do it yourself xx

@MrsMcNtobei havent booked it yet but im going to try for Feb 1st I think! Are you looking forward to yours? Have you had a transvaginal before? I was so worried about mine when I went to the fertility clinic but actually preferred it to a smear test tbh 😅

Bubbles1st · 20/01/2021 17:11

Well I a couple of weeks when you all start having your scans I might end up caving and booking one.

I need to get my booking appointment first, they called last week and said I couldn't be seen in my area because it's so busy so I said where I'd prefer to be seen. When I called them they just said oh we are busy call back in a week and we will make an appointment.
Bit put out to be honest as surely if they are busy all the more reason to get me booked in.

Anyway, I will call again Friday once it's been a week and hopefully as I'll be nearly 7 weeks the wait for the appointment won t feel so long.

Madeoftea · 20/01/2021 17:22

Thank you @unicornpower! How are you doing? Has your spotting continued?

They agreed that I'm more around 4 weeks than 5 which I knew from tracking with OPK's, I estimate 4+3. They said to see what my hcg results are like on Friday and then will decide when they want to scan me again to make sure it's progressing and there's nothing hidden anywhere else.

Honestly I thought that because this is my first pregnancy they wouldn't take me seriously or do much, but they got me in so quick, all the nurses were so kind and they put me right at ease. Even my partner could be there. I know that because of covid a lot of areas are not the same right now though!

I hope everyone else is doing OK so far! Also don't worry if you have to have a transvaginal scan, it wasn't bad at all!

bluemagicalsky · 20/01/2021 17:28

Hey @Bubbles1st I'm with you. I'm not going to have an early scan, so you're not alone ☺️

mrandmrslobster · 20/01/2021 17:33

@unicornpower

Thanks! I'll be phoning my GP tomorrow.

Can I ask what you mean when you say 2-3 weeks actually means 4-5 weeks?

Also I see people saying they are "6+2" and things like this and I've no idea what anyone is talking about. Does that mean 6 weeks and 2 days? My timekeeping is atrocious and something tells me I'm going to be clueless through this whole experience Confused

hippinghen · 20/01/2021 17:36

All 4 weeks today and I feel soooo exhausted. First time I've really felt it. Anyone else similar? Xx

unicornpower · 20/01/2021 17:37

@Madeoftea its kind of intermittent, it hopefully seems to be on its way out (hopefully i havent jinxed that!) Seems to happen in the morning and then tails off but the midwives said thats quite common but we are going to do another test on Saturday just to see if im still 3+ as thats how we found out I was miscarrying before when my tests just got lighter so hopefully it'll be okay!

Thats great they got you in so soon, I guess if they were concerned it was an ectopic they needed it to be sorted ASAP but im glad it wasn't! Im nervous about the midwives haha you hear so many stories about grumpy midwives but at least yours were nice 👌

unicornpower · 20/01/2021 17:41

@mrandmrslobster yes sorry! So clearblue will tell you how far you are from conception so in your case 2-3 weeks, but the NHS dates you from your last period so you usually add 2 weeks to that, but if you're not sure of your cycles etc then don't worry. So 2-3 weeks becomes 4-5. Does that make sense? Its not an exact science and at your dating scan they'll usually change your due date anyway 🥰

It took me ages to work out the + numbers too! So yeah 5 +1 is 5 weeks and 1 day xxx

AdventuresAwait · 20/01/2021 17:50

Yes @hippinghen, I am six weeks and am absolutely exhausted. But also waking in the night too when I just want to sleep!

Taybz · 20/01/2021 18:12

Has anyone developed a bump yet? I'm just under a month and I've got a bit of a bump! Getting worried there's something wrong and also that family will start noticing!

Bubbles1st · 20/01/2021 18:24

@Taybz do you think it could be bloating?

I'm overweight as it is so you you could be mistaken for thinking I've been pregnant the last 2 years. However at just over 6 weeks I definitely think it's a different belly I have. I could literally go out with a right top on and people I'm sure would ask how long left!

My partner doesn't think I look any different though - still just fat!!

Taybz · 20/01/2021 18:53

Thought it might be bloating but it's very noticeable and unfortunately I'm quite petite so it shows. Feels like there's an air or water balloon there!

mrandmrslobster · 20/01/2021 18:55

@unicornpower

Thanks for that. It's all a minefield!

NommyChompers · 20/01/2021 19:20

For those spotting like me, my midwife friend said only worry if it’s more than a teaspoon in one go - sounds silly but I put a tsp of water on some clean knickers to visualise it and it was actually loads More than you’d think - helped reassure me my spotting was a lot lighter than this and put my mind at rest a bit.

CherylLW · 20/01/2021 19:33

Does anyone have an early scan booked for next week? I’ve just booked mine for Wednesday... so excited but so so nervous x

NommyChompers · 20/01/2021 19:39

I’ve booked one for 8 weeks - don’t want the stress of it being too early but obviously everyone’s dates are slightly different :D I hear bad stories but think I’d love some reassurance and would rather be dissapointed sooner if that’s the case...

AdventuresAwait · 20/01/2021 20:06

Hi @CherylLW, I booked an early scan today for next Thursday. Keep wondering if I should change it for the week after but also keen to go soon. I'll be 7+1 by scan day.

CherylLW · 20/01/2021 20:47

@AdventuresAwait I think 7+1 sounds good, they can do scans from 6 weeks and so much happens in a week so early on!
I’ve booked mine for next Wednesday... I’ll be 8+3. I wasn’t going to but I’ve had a previous loss so I’m hoping this will reassure me a bit of all goes well.

@NommyChompers I feel you, I would rather know sooner than later is something bad has happened. With my first pregnancy I had a MMC and didn’t find out my baby had died at 7+2 until 11+4... it was hard. I have to ramble that everything happens for a reason and every pregnancy is different.

Hoping all our early scans go well xx

bigsweetpotato · 20/01/2021 21:13

Hey guys. I'm 6+2 and woke up this morning to a bit of pink spotting that totally freaked me out. It stopped this afternoon but it's not happened before (and it's my first pregnancy) so I'm quite worried. I feel a bit crampy too :( still got a couple of weeks to go to my proper midwife appointment and then the scan so I'm praying everything is still ok...

NommyChompers · 20/01/2021 21:30

@bigsweetpotato is it more than a tsp of blood with the spotting?

AdventuresAwait · 20/01/2021 21:48

Thank you @CherylLW, hope all goes well next Wednesday xx

Mamamccarts · 20/01/2021 22:12
